Graphtec FC2200/90 Cutter Firmware-Update
inonyman posted a topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Dear community, I am the proud owner of a newly purchased used Graphtec FC2200/90 flatbed plotter from about 1989 to 1992. The plotter is in a generally excellent condition and ready to use. Since I have problems using the Plotter with Adobe Illustrator in combination with Cutting Master 4 Plugin, I would like to know, if it is possible to update the plotters firmware to ‘Plotter Firmware v4.50 for Graphtec FC2250’? I am not sure, weather the FC2250 v4.50 Firmware is suitable for my FC2200/90 plotter. I would also install the ‘Windows Driver OPS662 (v3.90)’ on my Windows Laptop and install ‘Cutting Master 3 for Windows Ver.2.2.1252’ instead of the current version. I would be extremely grateful for any help!!! -
Best Third-Party Software for USCutter... Easy Cut Studio
2BrokeCollegeStudents posted a topic in Other Software Programs
As someone who is relatively new to the industry and this forum, I wanted to share my thoughts on a software I settled with and would definitely recommend. I would also love to hear your thoughts as well! After recently demoing multiple trial versions of vinyl cutting software and as a hobby user who is new to the industry, I settled on Easy Cut Studio for my vinyl design and cutting software needs. In addition to being very intuitive to use (for example, I downloaded the trial version and within two minutes had connected it to my US Cutter machine and printed my first (pre-designed) decal), Easy Cut Studio and its developers know the needs and desires of those cutting vinyl for hobby, business, and professional use. The platform boasts its knowledge of these needs through many easy-to-learn advanced features (many of which are still far beyond my current understanding and needs) and options for importing files and fonts in a wide range of file formats including: SVGs, open type, and true type fonts, and also PDF files. I was particularly impressed with the way Easy Cut Studio made it possible to scale and format a specified group of decals without needing to go to a lot of extra hassle to get them formatted. Additionally, the software gives the user the ability to “nudge” a design a fraction of an inch if it is not quite printing right in order to better utilize your vinyl – a feature I found really nice for when I’m printing on high-priced material (like premium 3M vinyl). I outlined a few pros and cons below for you to consider when looking at Easy Cut Studio for your personal or business needs. Pros: Really intuitive for a beginner user and has enough advanced features to keep a professional user busy with options. Connects very easily to a wide range of printers (in my case, I am using the US Cutter MH871-MK2 via USB cable and it was flawless and simple to connect) Quick file import and export speeds - this depends on your computer but is also something I've noticed various software types having minor differences in. Options to use pre-loaded fonts and typefaces in addition to the ability to download and import your own desired fonts/types. Free trial version where you can actually print the decals you want to test plus utilize the many features that come with the platform. Many diverse size and scaling options for making the most of your vinyl and materials. Easy and simple one-time payment as opposed to other platforms with costly monthly payment options. Cons: There are multiple small lines that the software will cut through your designs until you purchase the premium - basically if you want quality decals, you must purchase the premium. That said, this didn't distract me much from moving forward with using the software. Interface doesn't appear quite as updated/modern as some Adobe products or other vinyl cutting platforms. Bottom line: I would absolutely consider utilizing Easy Cut Studio for your vinyl cutting needs, especially if you're a beginner or moderate user like me who desires a wide range of diverse and intuitive features for a one-time price. I am very happy with this choice and look forward to hearing your thoughts. I will work to keep this updated as I go with any additional pros or cons I note. Cheers! I recently pulled out my Vinyl Express R series for the first time, it was given to me by my Mom. I assumed it would just be plug and play, but so far I haven't been able to do anything and it seems like any link to software I might be able to use with it doesn't exist anymore. If someone could please give me some sort of information on where to start it would be greatly appreciated, I'm running windows 10..not sure what other information would be helpful other than I have no experience with any of this.

VinylExpress R Series II R31 - Driver, cutting problems
GrandCanyonSigns posted a topic in General discussion
I am in need of some helpful information about the VinylExpress R Series II (RedSail) plotters and the driver problems with them. I have the R Series II R31, and I have the LXI that came with the plotter from signwarehouse. I have had the plotter for over a year with only a few problems here and there using LXI. I've been in the business off an on for over 20 years and when I started out I had Vinyl Master Pro and a 24" Graphtec that I loved and never had a single issue with. Recently I purchased a new copy of VMP and for the past 72 hours I have not been able to get my VMP to match up with my R Series other than to cut a bunch of really bad text. As an example, if I try to cut the word "TEST" it will cut part of the first letter, all of the second letter, nothing for the third, and only half of the last letter, on top of drawing lines through everything where it is not picking up the blade through a cut. Signwarehouse is no help as they only help with LXI/Flexi, support from VMP is limited to them telling me that several customers have problems with the R31 plotters and their software and they emailed me some things to try and fix the problem, but, as of yet, none have done the trick. Is the idea of getting my VMP to work with my R31 totally out of the question? I'm hoping that you may be able to help me and/or point me in a direction that can help. Is there another type of code for program i can use or is there no point? If any information is needed to help me please let me know.

I recently inherited an MH MK2 and am a mac user. It took me a couple hours to figure out the cheapest way for my mac to talk to the cutter, but I did it! I am an AI user already, so making SVG files was no issue for me. I downloaded a software trial called Easycutstudio and got everything talking to each other. The trial is free to test out, the software is SUPER easy to use and most self explanatory. I am really enjoying learning more intricate pieces of it too. I grabbed a jpg online of some tentacles and traced them out in Adobe Illustrator, imported it into Easy Cut Studio, click on cutter, chose my machine, and BOOM! It started working!! I was so amazed at how easy all of that was, and it didn't cost me a fortune to get started!! Once I get really savvy with it, i'll post some snap shots of the software in action. But I had to figue out what was best for my mac, and I couldn't find a lot of options out there. Hope this helps other people who might want to pick up a used older model cutter and are mac users! Thanks!

Software for invoices and inventory
handcraftedbyjennilee posted a topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I am looking for software for our beginning business. We currently do sewing and embroidery, heat transfer, and vinyl application. I would like to track our sales to determine which products are selling the best so I know where to invest our money later. I would also like to track our orders to know what needs to be filled and who has paid and who not. I would prefer one software for both applications. If there is a free trial version would be great. At this time I don't feel like I need the extra bells and whistles that most programs offer. ie; tax stuff, profit loss margins or graphs. I just want something simple with a quick learning curve. I have read that some use quickbooks for the invoice process. I use quicken deluxe but would need to upgrade to home and business ,$60, to utilize it. My fear is that it will not be detailed enough. I have not found any good tutorials yet. I know there are many free excel downloads but I do not currently have office on my computer. While it would be helpful it's $100 a year. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. -

I have been using RazorCut for a little over a year now with little issue. At some point and time during my office move, I misplaced the RC case that had the serial number for the software. Now that I had to purchase a new PC, I cannot install RC (no CD key), so I thought I would try out the free version of VinylMaster Cut 4.0 that came with my Titan Cutter. I have never been more disappointed in a software before. It is very similar to RC, but does not allow me to stamp & punch out. These are two main features that I use. I dont know if it is worth the money to upgrade just to get access to those tools. What other software is out there that will work with my Titan cutter?

Hey guys, new to cutting and the forums. Purchased a second hand AIP 1120 44" cutter/plotter, came with a dinky old computer running XP but i already had the intentions of using the cutter with my MacBook pro laptop running the latest software (MacOS Sierra 10.12.4). The softwares I am using are Signcut Pro1 and Inkscape, saving the images/text created in inkscape as either ".eps" or ".svg". The cutter is connected to my laptop using a USB to Serial adaptor. So I install the software, and the website has a little tutorial for a test cut, which i perform and the machine cuts it out flawlessly (well some flaws, i have to adjust blade height because when its not cutting, its scratching the vinyl moving around), so i disconnect the cable, go sit down and make a few logos I wanted to cut out. I saved them, made sure they were vectored and all, open it up in Signcut and click cut, then nothing. The progress window pops up then instantly goes away. The settings all look correct, havent tinkered with those, baud rate and everything match, tried shutting off laptop, turning cutter on and connecting to laptop, then starting the laptop and tried cutting again to no avail, uninstalled the software and reinstalled multiple times, tried saving the image in either ".svg" and ".eps" formats and still nothing, tried changing the usb port its connected to and again nothing. When I disconnect the usb, signcut says that it cannot connect with the cutter so i know that the laptop and software are recognizing the machine, but it for some reason wont communicate with it? The cutter is not offline, I have set the origin so it knows where to start cutting. I am stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My paper width is 130 cm and my cutter can eat 130 cm paper so thats fine but max cutting width for the cutter is 120cm. Should I customise my artboard to be 120cm? Or 130cm and draw inside a 120cm area? Please help

Thought I would give you guys a heads up that a publilc beta of Affinity Designer is out. I've been tinkering with it. It supports Pantone and CMYK. I don't now how much it will cost in the end, but the mac version costs £39.99, a bit over $52.00. Could be the Brexit brought the price down. This is a better link to the download as the main download page as a one version older: https://affinity.serif.com/forum/index.php?/topic/23086-affinity-designer-public-beta-1508-windows/

Does anyone use the CuttingMaster 3 plugin for Adobe Illustrator?
mpanek posted a topic in Adobe Illustrator
I just bought the LaserPoint II vinyl cutter and was wondering about my cutting software choices. I know Illustrator very well and I have used the cutting master plugin at my school. Will this plugin connect with any type of vinyl cutter? I downloaded and installed it, but when I try using it no devices to cut show up. I installed the drivers via the setup web page but the device is still "unknown". I really don't want to use the Vinyl Master software that came with the cutter because I was hoping I could sell it online and get back a piece of my investment. If I have to use the Vinyl Master software to activate my cutter I will, but I don't think that is the case. - Sorry this is a bit of a two question post but I really want to get this thing started! -
need help with pcut ct0630 - stops towards end and quality poor
Adie1974 posted a topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Discussion
I have been using a redsail cutter with winsign pc (importing from corel) however it packed up and aquired is pcut ct0630 the usb does not work so purchased usb to serial and run com 6 with buad rate of 38400. it now cuts. I downloaded a trial of sign cut (now expired) however on both programs the cut stops towards the end - i.e i cut 9 compressed gas signs in two lines (5 & 4) and it did not cut the last two "d" in teo of the signs. this ruins the whole sign as the letter weeded out so you can see the letter through the square. What i have had to do is click sort object and put some random text "test" at the end of the project so that it cuts "tes" and misses the "t" however i have completed signs. anoying but solved the problem. This problem has manifested in both sign cut and winsignpc (sign cut now expired and prefer winsignpc) However the quality is poor it looked like i had cut the letters out by hand - only a few have come out acceptable quality. I have just replaced the blade to eliminate a bad blade any help would be great -
Hi just want to say hello to all the fellow cutters out there. I have been making signs, more as a hobby for the last 2 years using redsail 24" cutter and winpcsign. Unfortunately it packed up and someone i do signs for sold me a pcut ct0630 (near new) it took me a few days to get my lappy to talk to it and even downloaded the trial of sign cut. I now use usb to serial adaptor with baud rate 38400. I’m using win 10 and import files from corel draw x6 Ofset is set to 0.3, It don’t work much past 50 on speed due to causing jagged lines. It also does not complete its job i.e it might miss the last letter or the top inner circle in the letter "B". The carriage is ok, blade rotates and is sticking out the thickness of a credit card. I’m going to try my blade holder from redsail tomorrow see if that improves the cut Advice would be greatly welcome

Hi I'm new from Western NY. I have a small business where I need to add something more to the shop. I was thinking of making personalized mugs where someone can bring in a picture and add that image to a mug. I was also thinking of doing plaques, and plates. I also have seen wine glasses with some sort of decal added such as for weddings: names and dates. I just don't know what I would need equipment wise to do these. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated! I don't have a big budget to work with so if it's several different set ups, which should I go with first to get started? Which would be cheapest to start off with and on a beginner level?
