So I am continuing to work with my new MH721-MK2 but I am getting really rough cuts. I am using the settings recommended in one of the UScutter videos of Cut Speed=500ms and Cut Press=100G. If you look at the edges very closely it looks like the vinyl was torn more than cut. The blade like the machine is brand new. It is a 45* blade. Does it matter which way the blade is facing? None of the material I have seen has specified. Also since it is not giving a clear cut, the weeding is also difficult, in most cases pulling up all of the vinyl instead of just the excess. What is the likely culprits here? Crappy blades, crappy vinyl, wron settings, crappy machine? I know these things are difficult to troubleshoot remotely but any advice would greatly be appreciated. http://s1265.photobucket.com/user/xtrachrispy/media/decal2_zps81983f23.jpg.html ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ OLD Just got my Vinyl cutter the other day and still trying to figure it all out. Have looked through various forums and youtube videos and have been able to solve all of my problems so far but this one. When doing a test draw using the pen tool (why waste vinyl when it's not working right yet) and it is drawing lines but doesn't seem to really ever move the paper forward, so essentially it keeps drawing over the same spots repeatedly. when doing a larger design it moves a bit more but not much. I have posted a video to youtube to show what I am talking about. I am hoping this is just a settings issue and not a hardware problem. thanks in advance -Xtrachrispy

This is a tip not a question: After you remove a decal from a vehicle no matter what your method there is usually some residue left behind. And at times this can be as hard as the decal it's self to remove. Today I tried something new, a magic eraser... it worked like a charm. Quicker than goo gone and less mess.

Jaybird, I will tell you what my girlfriends Father told me, about 25 years ago, about this place. He said; "Let me tell you something, mister, some of that $h!t out there MIGHT be junk, but THIS is a salvage yard"! I laughed till my sides hurt! I have never forgotten that!!! You are absolutely correct about that grease thing! I can walk by it in a store, and get dirty!!!

I have read that many people include instructions, saying. "not dishwasher safe," .....with glasses, plates. etc. that covers you. Just doing a search here on forum. for dishwasher http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/26710-dishwasher-safe-vinyl/?hl=dishwasher

NOT being snotty and somebody might chime in and help . After answering the basic questions many times over the years , many tire of it . The search function here is not that easy to use , but there is little that is not covered . Takes ALOT of reading . Skeeter deserves a trophy for typing the instructions about adjusting blade depth a zillion times or more .

If you are setup outside and it gets windy, gallon jugs of drinking or distilled water make great, cheap anchor weights for tying down your display and keeping it from blowing over. A gallon of water weighs over 8 lbs and costs $0.88 at my local grocery store - the jugs also have those convenient handle holes to attach your tie downs to. Or, if you're rich, you can buy a set of padded sandbags for $40+ per set of 4 from Walmart or other camping supply store. Attaching solid fabric to a large upright surface will create a sail effect - look for something with a loose weave or perforations that will allow air to pass through. I put up a canopy this week and it was breezy, but fine until I attached a 96"x24" banner and then I needed the jugs of water to hold it down...

The bubbles or tunneling are usually cured with practice. The best I can tell you is lay the print face down and peel the liner off at a sharp angle.

Reg marks - used for multi color/layered designs. You put a plus or X or what ever at the edge of the design. Then when you cut your two or how ever many colors you have a point to line them up with so everything comes out looking right. Weeding lines - extra cuts made by the cutter to help make weeding easier. Can also be done manually with an exacto knife. Weeding - removing the unwanted vinyl from the cut design.

Very simple instructions: Turn shirt inside out and wash in cold water. Air dry in dryer(inside out with NO HEAT) or put on a hanger(right side out) to dry.

Hi Jess, good questions. jaybird gave you the lowdown, which covers the basics. Think of it this way --- you are going to create a design that is LINE ART. The cutter is thinking only in terms of OUTLINES. This is the type of graphic that a cutter loves --

1: no they don't have to be 1 color. The reason you see so many 1 color design is to simplify the design to be cut in 1 color instead of multiple colors. 2: The software will have an option of what color to send to cutter. The cutter doesn't "see" color it only receives the information to make a line kind of like connect the dots (nodes are the dots) 3: Unlike pictures (raster) design made for cutting (vectors) are infinitely adjustable for size after completion without affecting the quality of the design.

I had exactly the same experience. Everything OK except for cuts from right to left with a screaming chatter noise with a perforated cut. Numerous adjustments to blade depth and pressure without results. In my case the problem turned out to be a rough blade holder tip. Here's how I diagnosed cause of my problem: First, I created a simple test plot to cut a wide and short box which would force the cutter to traveled all the way across my vinyl sheet without wasting a lot of material. With the blade and blade holder installed, I got a great cut from left to right but got an unusable perforated and noisy cut when the cutter moved from right to left (looking at the machine from the front). Then, I removed the blade from the blade holder, reinstalled the blade holder without the blade in the machine and tried the cut again. Same smooth slide from left to right, but same noise and chatter from right to left!! Therefore, the problem must be with the blade holder. I inspected the bottom (contact area) of the holder and it was hard to see anything wrong outside of a little circular ridge (almost invisible). But it had to be the holder because it would chatter with the holder in (without the blade), but not with a pen and pen holder instead. Here's how I confirmed the diagnosis and solved the problem: I took the holder and ran the contact end over a fine file until the ridge disappeared. Then I took some automobile polishing compound on a cloth on a hard surface and polished the filed end (vinyl end) of the blade holder until it was very polished. Take your time and make sure it is super shiny! After the blade holder end is polished, clean the holder carefully inside and out as the polishing compound is abrasive. Try the holder without the blade again. Same machine, same vinyl, no noise, and no chatter!!! Put the blade back in the holder, set the depth, and say goodbye to chatter, perforated cuts and weeding nightmares. I hope this is helpful.
