Got my new vinyl cutter up and running with no problems! Surprising considering I had no idea what I was doing because I'm new to all of this. I also got the cut right on the first try! My first decal ever, and my first glass etching project ever. Some spots on the glass turned out cloudy but not bad for my 1st try. (Don't mind the cat paw prints everywhere =P)

QUESTION> " can anyone make this a eps or ai vector? " ANSWER> Yes... (well, evidently, not just ~anyone~.) Sorry, that sounded "smart-aleky'... Let's add you to the 'Yes' catagory. Accoring to a previous thread, you have Illustrator and Inkscape... open Inkscape File>Import... (in this case) "WithFade.JPG" Click on top left arrow on left hand tool bar> "Select Tool" Click on the imported raster image Get rid of the color and gradient with Extentions>Raster>Level Type in "1000" for the 'white point' >Apply (Note... Inkscape is not the greatist raster program, I usually clean or otherwise 'massage' the graphic in Photoshop.) Path>Trace Bitmap (radio button 'Brightness Cuttoff" > Ok Close box and throw away Raster Image If you wanted clean text, here's where you would click on the text tool and add that. In this case, first, using the Node tool, remove the existing text. Save new Raster image as svg or eps or png, whatever suits. I've written ot out in slightly different terms here.

Cricut vinyl sells great for me on CL. Also get the occasional sign and shirt order from there too. As for spam I have a delete button in my mail that takes all of 15 second to check them and hit delete. Also way less spam now that my email is not in the ad and I use the blind email through CL itself.

Nope nothing on the GCC. I had not even heard of it back then. I had not heard of the forum back then. , I learned everything on my own. I was only researching between Graphtec,Vinyl Express and Roland.

Guess what????? I'm still researching................. I'm going to be up all night and my GF is going to kill me. haha lol OK What's up with a Vinyl Express Qe6000? Is it Exactly like a graphtec? Why would anyone buy a Graphtec if the Vinyl Express is exactly the same? OH So much to learn? As far as making my money back........ It'll happen in 4 months at my current rate. I have a meeting tomorrow with the GM at the local KIA dealer. The same owner has 3 other dealerships in the area. He's got a ton of ideas. If it's as good of a meeting as I'm hoping I'll have my money back in 2 months.

I can't remember where I read this, but actually placing a sign up that warns of a potentially biting dog actually raises the threshold of the homeowner's liability in case of an attack upon a visitor by that dog. The legal theory is that once you place a "warning" notice up, you've acknowledged that your animal is more dangerous than the average dog, and thus, you have an increased level of responsibility to prevent it from biting (you need to tie him up or otherwise control him). In other words, you are at greater risk of being sued for negligence should that pet attack. Without any sign, you can simply say "I had no idea he would do that -- he's normally NOT a dangerous dog, he's a good doggy." but once you put up a "Beware" notice, it shows you have prior concerns about his violence-prone behavior, and as such, you've got to take additional care to make sure nobody is injured by coming into contact with him.

I dropped $3000 on my cutter in 2008 and never regretted it...I have never had a problem and use it everyday. Had my money back in 5-6 weeks. You can do so much more with a professional cutter, than a value cutter. You don't have to guess, can my cutter cut that? Does it have enough memory.? How will it track.?... A Graphtec will cut it every time the first time... If there are errors it is user errors. I can cut 20ft if I want, no problem, And cut it correctly. You don't have to do a tweek every time you cut.. Put you vinyl in, pre feed, set origin and cut... All I change is the speed, depending on the job. And I can do that right from my computer, with the Graphtec cutting controller. .I only cut sign vinyl, for large vinyl graphics. UScutter does have financing also. I also gave my son a loan to get a new Graphtec CE5000-60, in 2012. I did not want him to start with a value cutter. I already knew the frustration with one. My first cutter was a Seiki..

I'd like to hear what some other people think because I haven't been doing this long. If they were ordering more like 50 then I'd be down to $12. That's just me.

Salt Life and John Deere are copyrighted/licensed trademarks. So, if you get sued, would it be worth it? You could also get the Boutique owner in trouble as well, if they are selling them,,and It is being sold on their property. You cannot reproduce/sell copyrighted/trademark items without permission from the owner. Salt Life and John Deere are very protective of their logos and trademarks. A Good Read, before you get caught. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/17644-warning-to-everyone/?hl=+dewalt%20+decal Here is a larger scale of what copyright infringement is, big or small ,,, illegal to sell copyrighted/trademarked items. Does not matter what the item is T-shirts, decals, banners, what ever. http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2014/02/store_owner_sentenced_for_sell.html#incart_river_default

Its nice that you did it and can offer the design but until they learn to do it themselves they will keep asking. Chances are this is a paying job and he just made money from your work. I would feel way better teaching him step by step how to do it.

Guys if we are not still learning we are either dead...or maybe a politican
  21. 1 point
actually that is what makes the forum so valuable bouncing ideas off each other to spur on innovative thinking. we constantly teach each other

I've been doing this going 12 years this year and I am still learning just like the rest of you. what's funny is it's not just on the new stuff i'm learning. We have a guy here who started this fall and has been making signs for 20 years and we are showing each other new ideas and old tricks.

Know how you feel, OW... seems it never fails... go the extra mile on a project and it turns around and bites you. My wife tells me, "You gotta know when to Lay Up". and "No Good Deed goes un-Punished"!

When using water and a couple drops of liquid soap make sure the liquid spreads across evenly. Sometimes when there is not enough soap mixed in you get dry spots which traps the liquid. Squirt just plain water on back of your vinyl and watch it seperate...thats what traps the water

Here are a couple of glass pieces I finished. The 1st is a 21x31 1/4" tempered. My friend at the glass shop I deal with gave me 32 pcs. that size because someone ordered the glass the wrong size. And a couple of others that I tried something different with like the cross hatch on the pistol grips. I blasted thru a piece of window screen to try and get what I wanted Bob
