    1st heat transfer project

1st heat transfer project. I did a dumb thing, forgot to cut as a mirror image and had to re cut. Then I did another dumb thing, the temp sat at 300* for awhile, I kept checking it, and I got the 'geeky' positioned and pressed it, I lifted it and it was a little bubbly, and had scorched the fabric a little so there is a discolored square, I looked and the temp had climbed to 400*! The rest came out ok. Lessons learned. Gotta figure out how to use my vinyl scraps now, I have some decent sized pieces after doing this project. I tried cutting on the left over smaller pieces and didn't turn out that great. kept moving a little, I guess that will be something I'll get better at too. Anyways, I think the bag turned out pretty dang good for a 1st try!

    First decal ever

Got my new vinyl cutter up and running with no problems! Surprising considering I had no idea what I was doing because I'm new to all of this. I also got the cut right on the first try! My first decal ever, and my first glass etching project ever. Some spots on the glass turned out cloudy but not bad for my 1st try. (Don't mind the cat paw prints everywhere =P)

Sorry I'm still new to all of this and don't know what that means Thanks, I can't remember where I got it from I've had it saved for awhile, I found it through google somewhere
  5. Screen printing is cool and everything, I did it in high school in graphics class, it's kinda messy, and if you're not doing a lot at a time it would seem like a hassle. With heat transfer vinyl you can also have a better view of where your design is going. I dunno, I'm still new to it all myself, but when I think about screen printing, it just sounds like a headache. I don't have the huge space needed for all of the stuff, the sinks for degreasing your screens and rinsing off ink, cleaning up, etc...can you even wash that stuff down residential drains, would it clog them? Just sounds more complicated than vinyl. Vinyl is no mess, minimal clean up, and seems like you would have a lot less mistakes. If I did screen printing I don't think I would enjoy it as much, I feel I would look at it as a chore instead of something I enjoy doing. Just my noobie 2 cents! (don't know about printing onto iron on vinyl quality doesn't seem that great for those, I do the solid color vinyl, no photographs, etc)

I'm not sure what you mean, aluminum oxide? From what?
  7. Turned out pretty good for a newbie! My first heat transfer t-shirts ever. The 8-bit is mine and the other I made for my husband. That one won't be a shirt I can sell though since it's based on the trailer park boys tv show. The k got a little messed up during weeding because it was so thin, had to cut a little bar by hand and just stick in on there Hey it works for a test shirt. (top right of the k)

Sure cuts a lot pro that came with my cutter.
  9. Totally cool, never heard of the rub and buff. Do you etch it and smear something on it?

    First heat transfer t-shirts

Will wash them a couple of times but I think the vinyl is there to stay, I can kinda see the fabric through the vinyl.

I might take you up on that some day. I'm trying to concentrate on vinyl projects right now, I'm starting to wonder if the glass stuff will be worth my time....hmmm..I don't want to take on too many projects at once. If I decide to try it I'll let you know, and thank you for the offer
  15. I have sure cuts a lot 3 pro that came with my vinyl cutter, I cannot figure out how to isolate each color and cut them separately. I also cannot figure out how to select part of the image and cut it out. I have something traced and it has a couple words on it that I'd just like to erase or cut out of the picture (not in the literal sense) but I only see where I could delete whole objects. Such a simple thing and I can't for the life of me see any option to do this. I just want to select part of the image and delete it or cut it out like you can in paint.

  21. Thanks so much guys it works. I had tried that before and it didn't work I think it was because I didn't have it selected right. Made my first tote bag! Will upload pics later
  22. Helpful video but my picture is just 1 object, not multiple sections I can delete, It 'moves around' as 1 picture and I just want to delete some lines from it, I might just have to do this in paint and reopen it in SCALP. Thank you for the video though good information.
  23. I don't even see any nodes on the image. it's a premade image that I have traced and want to erase some of the lines and stuff on it but i can't figure out how.
  24. I've tried searching for answers on here and google but I'm just not seeing it. I know this is probably a really stupid and simple question but I can't see how to do it.
