Thanks to the tech support at Conde I finally got my Ricoh 3110 installed tonight. I have to admit, at the cost of the cartridges it was a little nerve wracking firing it up the first time! Anyway, I made a sample bag tag for my daughter's orcherstra instructor as we have been talking about doing some business together. I might be making tags for each of their instruments as well as for the students when they go on their field trip. I'm also working on a window decal design for the. The "Cut the pineapple" name tag is an inside joke at work. Not too bad for my first attempt.

I worked full time while I was doing signs and everything else I could do in my spare time but I could never really get in to deep because of my full time job. In feb. I quit my job. Freaked out for a week. Then hit the ground running. Making and doing everything I can with my cutter. I love it . I love looking and getting work . Its much more satisfying . I will never go back to working for someone else I so go for it. Its alot of hard work but worth it

So i had to travel up north to Pennsylvania this past weekend. I left last thursday afternoon due to wanting to knock out some hours of driving. so i drove 5 hours and stayed in Florence SC. Well before i got there i stopped at a Walmart in Walterboro SC to look for a cheap Gps due to mine just quit working. Well did not find anythin and left the store and went on to Florence. While in the hotel my wife got a facebook message on her business page. A lady seen the back windo decal i just did and got her info. The lady stated that we had clipped her in the parking lot. Not her car put clipper her physically. So i and my wife started to think of everything. Well the lady said she had filed a report and called the Florida DMV due to i have a florida tag. So at 1100 that night i called the Walterboro police and asked if a report was filed and they said no. So we went on about our trip and came back home and not heard a word. So i am putting this out so some people see a business on a vehicle and think they can scam you for something. By the way for all that live up north in Penn. and New Jersey and any other states ups there you people are some damn crazy ass drivers....

yes sorry about the run on paragraph was just trying to get all the information in there As for static and grounding yes the cutter is grounded to the stand has been since day 1 and after reading many posts about this value cutter i wipe down all my vinyl with dryer sheets before cutting already. as far as being set up as a printer that is the way us cutter tech support set me up after several issues with the usb. i purchased a keyspan adapter and was unable to get that to work at all. Again called tech support they said maybe you got a bad keyspan. i returned and exchanged for another keyspan same issue. As for saving for another machine already well on the way to that i have been setting enough aside to cover expenses for each project and almost all of the profit has been set aside since i got this cutter (about a month ago) to upgrade only need two or three more decent projects and i believe i will be purchasing a titan 2 by then end of july.

Thanks all. I learned a couple of things, like to hide the layer with the boundry lines so it doesn't print onto the artwork. jaybird - As much as I hate to spend the money so soon I'm planning on order another set of cartridges very soon.

switching to the pen is giving you a clue... It could very well be static from the vinyl.. Try wiping vinyl with dryer sheets, Static Guard sprayed in area. I hope you have your cutter grounded to the stand if you have one Also serial connection is the best for those cutters. Some can run on USB, but many more do not. Serial card, a Tripplite Keyspan Adapter or a Belkin is another choice. Just enter Keyspan Adapter in the search bar and you will see where that has helped tons of people with the value cutters and these kind of problems.

Well all I can tell you is make sure that flange is on the lip of the blade holder. Set your blade like I have posted many times, then use the force of your machine to get the cuts the right depth.. Do the cutter test cut..

Can you explain a little more in-dept, I just noticed my plunger/blade was not completely on right and when I went to adjust it. I started getting the above uneven cuts. On one side it cuts thru the paper and the other side not enough. Mine was sitting like this and working fine.. Now it not.

I did one for my Spanish friend one time "Quatro por Quatro" or something like that. I'll have to find the picture. I like your designs. They look great.

Well, with that said, I'll take the 5600. It seems to beat out the 5500 in every category that matters....

Resale the decals, of the images? Uscutter has discs of clipart.. many online. Ebay. other auctions. Amazon. Pretty ez to search.. Vector designs images...clipart. depends on what category you want to sell. Stars? Stripes?, Horses?.. what ever is pretty much out there. How is the Graphtec?

Are you telling your customers to peel the backing away from the decal.? And not the decal from the backing? It makes a HUGE difference. People don't know, and they are trying to LIFT the decal from the backing, They will lift the paper right up with it doing that.. They need to peel the backing away from the decal. I actually write it on my decals every order, by pen. .. Peel backing away...

Thats a good point too lol. I dont see why someone would want to spend money on a cheap plastic disposable bag over a reusable canvas bag?

I've done it and you can do it. Left a great corporate job in 1994 and never looked back. My husband had the benefits with his job so of course that made it easier. My last child left home in 2000. I work out of my home in the woods in a rural community but I'm involved with my community (Chamber of Commerce is most important (to me anyway) and my town takes care of me. I am self taught on everything I do. I started out just doing typesetting then started brokering the printing. This led to brokering signs then when I saw how easy it was to make signs I bought a Graphtec FC-7000 and started making my own signs. I outsource my full color work to a local sign shop and that's been great. I also sell promotional products. It's too easy not to now with the internet. Just this year I discovered heat transfer vinyl and started doing shirts. Wish I would have discovered it a long time ago but I didn't. I just did 40 shirts today for a bridge run tomorrow. I create all my signs and shirt designs in Adobe Illustrator. I am a one person operation and occasionally need my husband to help me with an install). Remember there is a youtube video for everything so if you need to learn a certain thing for a certain job just google it. Good luck and look forward to hearing how it's going for you.
