In light of the new info I would add that the most important info on the shirt has become "FIREFIGHTER". Perhaps it should also be the largest?

You have to test the waters as Carolyn Said . I have been on ebay since March 2000 and have over 7000 feed backs all positive, no negatives, that helps a lot. I love etsy the fees aren't as bad as ebay and I do all right there. Have been there for a few years... This is etsy Ebay

Kids when grown are hard to buy for. I'm tired of giving momey.. They're not.. Hahaha. So I decided to make something for them and this is what I came up with. She and my son-in-law have the same birthdate so my gift was fitting.

So went back and did some math... I buy all of my 651 vinyl in 24"x50 yard rolls and all my application tape in the biggest size as well. I round up and come up with about $1 cost per linear foot of material, vinyl and app tape. So about 50 cents a square foot. I did this job of 90 small decals took about 9' of materials, so lets call it 10'. So i have $10 in materials in the job. It took me about 2.5-3 hours to weed, tape, and cut them apart. I charged $1.50 each (which i'm told is WAY TOO LOW to charge) and got paid $135. That's $125 profit for 3 hours work with no overhead, and that comes out to $41 an hour. I think I'm ok with that... But everyone says I should charge more, but I can't imagine charging what this calculator tells me to. I think I would lose customers.

QUOTE> "Technically, it's not possible to fit those dimensions without altering either the length or height outside of spec." Exactly what I did. I lengthened the horizonal bars to give the OP what the wanted.

One thing I have done in the past when I have under charged is let the customer know at the time of delivery that I made a mistake but would honor the deal I had made. I basically did a bunch of hats too cheap (first hat order ever) and didn't want to do more at that price so I let him know I was off on the labor to perform the work and that I couldn't afford to do them that cheap. He felt grateful for me honoring my bid (which I would even at a loss, a bid is a bid. Take your lumps and learn) and then was aware that they were going to be more on the next order. No problem, I have been doing tons of stuff for him ever since and was able to get my prices up where they are profitable (or more profitable as the case may be). There is a point where I would rather turn the machine off and go hang out with my kids than work for minimum wage. Like a big percentage of us on this forum I am a part timer and don't rely on this to support my family. Just extra cash and the first hobby I have ever had that was a money maker instead of a money PIT!

I've made my living on ebay for 8 years....haven't sold a thing on Etsy in the 2 years I have been on there. Heck, ONE ad on Craigs list got me more business than Etsy. And it ended up being a regular customer for 5 years now

Looks pretty good. Did the gold get off on the hoofs a little? I have found a little technique almost by accident that has helped a TON on fine detailed stuff. I use a piece of parchment paper (for backing cookies, my wife keeps huge rolls from Costco on hand), nothing sticks to that stuff. Just peel your carrier off and slap the parchment on and you can lay it right on the lower layer and see though about as good as having the whole thing on a lightbox. Then I tape it in place with a hinge and pull out the parchment paper and it's right in place at that point. It has saved me tons of times since I started using it. I still use reg marks but the added ability to nail a perfect placement is nice.

Correct, I have sold nothing on Etsy. My son also sells on EBAY,,, he has been busy. He doesn't sell for pennies either.. I showed him how to write good ads. for our products, and trained him. And we both have Graphtecs. And ship fast. We are both TOP RATED SELLERS.. And I am a Power Seller, which is over $1000 a month, each month.

Howdy from Texas.... word of mouth does wonders. You will be surprised how many people need signs, banners, T's etc. Once folks find out your doing it you should be as busy as you want to be. Youth sports is a good area to look into. Moms love shirts with their little ones name on the back and the love bling too!

Before I changed the blade I tried backing the pressure down to 20g, and now it works tons better. I figured more pressure would equal a more complete cut.....seems the opposite is true.
