  1. Tangential emulation may or may not help but that's where I'd start too. I have mixed emotions on emulation. The problem being that there is no clear direction on when and where the blade needs to be raised to help cut, how tight a corner gets a raised or not etc... Summa makes a true tangential that the computer actually controls the blade spin and I'd like to have one for such things but I don't hardly cut that thick so I have never pursued one. You might try slowing it down a little or like mentioned trying two passes (a PIA to set pressure on though)
  2. I don't have that cutter, but how thick is that material? Maybe you need to make 2 passes when cutting, looks like the blade is extended out to far to me, maybe slow the machine down also
  3. If you want the file to cut over the top of it self multiple times select the number of passes in Send to be Cut.

USCutter is cutting the design twice...

did you check to see if you have one image laying directly on top of another - think that is what skeeter was saying - not that the cutter is set for 2 passes - if there are 2 images it will cut both of them but to the naked eye it looks like one
  5. Ok I'll check it out. It just sucked because I'm doing 18 decals in one print and have some registration marks because I'm doing two colors. So it will cut all 18 decals but before it cuts the registration marks it goes over all 18 again. I could stop it early if it didn't wait til the end to do the registration marks. But I'll look and see about the 2 passes thing.

USCutter is cutting the design twice...

It is usually double paths on the designs. Ai files will do that,, If the background is white, it thinks it is a color also. So it will cut 2 times.... See if you can delete part and there is another design under it.. And make use you don't have 2 passes checked in your software.
  7. I purchased vinylmaster xpt. Which listed the L25500 in the demo. Once i activated the full version, I went to setup the L25500, and I got a little pop window saying the driver is pending or something to that effect. I was then given the links you listed and downloaded the driver. It now lists the printer. I have installed a few profiles into the media profile. I was wondering does vinylmaster xpt allow you to adjust the settings of the printer, such as drying temp, curing temp, and how many print passes to set the printer to?

    Photo tex self-adhesive cutting question

try two maybe three passes with normal pressure, trying to hog through in one pass may be your issue. I have never cut that material but that is how I cut multi layer multi material projects.

    Inkscape to vinyl cutter help

I drew a design using the bezier curve and circle tool in inkscape. I would like my vinyl cutter to trace the pattern one time as viewed in outline display mode...real simple. If I select everything and assign a 1px stroke width, the cutter will make 2 passes (sees the line as having width) If I select everything and assign a fill color, I get 5 extra vertical lines where the stripes meet the circle (cuts what you would see in normal mode) even though the segment there has been deleted. Maybe I'm going about it all the wrong way or missing something obvious. Rsample.svg

    Best way to cut coroplast

Not necessarily true that Coroplast will emit HCl or Cl gas if laser cut. True Coroplast is not a vinyl product. According to the MSDS, it is polypropylene. PVC (vinyl) molecules contain chlorine which produces HCl and Cl gas when vaporized. Polypropylene molecules only contain hydrogen and carbon. Though it probably wouldn't be a great idea to directly breathe the fumes from laser cutting, it doesn't appear to produce anything too detrimental to people or equipment. I've never tried cutting it myself, but I have a spare piece that I can try out. I've read that it is rather flammable if cut at too high of a power setting, but multiple passes at a lower power can remedy that.

    SC 34" Inaccurate Cuts

I have less issues cutting through cardstock, mylar, & layered decals when I make multi passes with nominal change in pressure vs 1 pass with the force cranked up. What slice said - I misread the question... ooops
  12. I have an issue with the cutter lifting more than I think it needs to. Using AI with Cutting Master 3 . Here is a short video example of what I am talking about (cutting 2 passes here but the excess blade lifting is obvious) https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B72LKAZyPz2hNXp5ZS01Y1dnS0k/view?usp=sharing Here is the same section shown in the video . The extra lifts increase the cutting time and wear on the machine. Cutter is a Graphtec Ce-6000-60 cutting magnetic sheet 2 passes. Thanks for any help.

    Double Cutting

Most cutting software has an option to cut the same design 2 or more times,, This is mostly done for thicker materials, Too thick for the blade to cut through the first time, So you would have the cutter make 2 or more passes to cut through it.

    Double Cutting

What do you mean when you say "2 passes"? In the cutting software itself? Or in Illustrator where I made my document? (Also, in other cutting software, what menu is "passes" located under? And it is only one layer of vector so its super frustrating that I can't figure out what is going wrong...
  15. MZ SKEETER

    Double Cutting

It is usually caused because you have 1 layer of vector on top of another layer vector, So it cuts twice.., Try deleting lines from the top vector, and see if there is another vector under it.. If so then delete the top vector, Or make sure you don't have 2 passes selected in your cutting software. I don't use SCALP, but this option is in other software...

    SC 34" Inaccurate Cuts

Also this could be an issue "set to 600" I cut through 6mil laminated decals with 34 however I make 3 passes. 1 pass at that pressure could be your problem, I was never a fan of hogging though the material if I could make a few passes. Think of it like this if you were working with metal would you remove 1/4" at at time or would you make a few passes ?

    Glass etching

Nice write-up Icomstock I have used the USCutter sandblast mask. It works pretty good on flat surfaces and comes up easy afterword. It's fairly thick so you might have trouble cutting with some of the value cutters. I don't like to strain my expensive Summa so I just make a couple passes at a lower setting. Takes a little playing around to figure out what pressure to run for a double cut. You will need a 60deg blade to get through the thickness. It's a little tough to get small designs so for glass I just use the Green Star (GS) vinyl now. The adhesive is easier to get off than most of the Oracal vinyls and it cuts easier while still being heavy enough to handle glass work. (I don't do a whole lot of blasting but do occasional 1-off work)
  19. If my memory is right it's the u shaped black plastic thing on the right in your picture. Above the pinch roller is a metal tab that passes through that when the head goes side to side and triggers the sensor.
  20. Make 3 or even 4 passes..... it will eventually cut. I would suggest using 5 mil. It's easier to work with and it actually makes a better stencil as it is easier to form on uneven surfaces.
  21. I have cut several types of media for stencils on my MH,since it's a "lesser" machine than your laser point this short guide should work just fine. Write down your current settings for vinyl, keep this in a safe place. Buy a second blade holder Insert a 60 degree blade in this holder ( you will want less blade dragging through the material) Extend the blade twice the length of vinyl ( or just a bit past the thickness of the stencil material ) Crank the pressure up..... then crank it again; On my MH I cut vinyl at 10 downforce plastics 250 downforce. Make two passes for 7 mil ( hogging through on the first pass is asking for trouble.) ( 7 mil was two passes - 5 mil one pass) Use a carrier sheet - one with a sticky back type works best BAM you have your stencils. Oh almost forgot - It's a good idea to mark your blade holders it kind of sucks when you grab the wrong one.
  22. Have you tried making a couple passes?
  23. I physically went in person to Graphtec UK today since they're close to me. We tested the machine and it's working normally according to them. They had another unit set up and trialled the same fonts at the same sizes and it produced EXACTLY the same results as my unit... the only way I can get around having the tiny hang nails is doing 2 passes.. so that's what I'll do I think!
  24. Thanks for the reply - it does cut very well otherwise, it's just the rings and 0s gs etc that it sometimes has problems with. It's not hugely noticeable but it is there, however when I make 2 passes it's perfect aside from a slight overall degradation of quality. It seems to me like it's not completely reaching the start point of the cut on the rings, hence it's fine with 2 passes. Anyone with a Graphtec CE-6000 have any ideas? Does your cutter do this? I actually have a 60 degree blade on the way so will give it a go when it arrives. Do you know what the offset should be for 60 degrees? Cheers!
  25. Hello, new to cutting and new to the forum! Bought myself a Graphtec 6000-40 and I've noticed that I'm getting some very small hang nails on some of the smaller letting, but only where there is a circular shape. I'm using the stock 45 degree blade and I've played around with the settings a bit, but the only way I can completely get rid of them is to make 2 passes of whatever I'm cutting. It's almost as though the blade JUST stops short of where it's supposed to. Quality wise, everything is superb and I'm very happy. Just wanted to know if this is normal or not. I've read of several other people with the Graphtec 6000 cutters having this happen. 2 passes fixes the hang nail problem but the quality of the work overall is very slightly diminished as far as I can tell. Can anyone confirm this is ok? I'm working with lettering around about 7mm in diametre. Thanks!
