If you don't know or can't see them then you shouldn't get into the business. Its cold how I put it because its getting crazy how some people cant figure it out and want to get into this business.

It's very popular to affix a decal to the face of your cutter carriage.

I prefer to just sit back and see what happens. More entertaining that way but honestly would someone start building houses if they didn't know how to read a tape measure? Seeing a lot of that lately.

(Not to be confused with the Project) Its a all out function from a Police escorted, American Legion Riders Post #81 and Brevard County AirBoat Association Parade and Operation Outdoor Freedom, Friends and the Community who go all out and take our warriors out. We Hunted area 540 on the St John River... Hope you enjoy the photos ... I worked the event this year to help out and hunted it last year getting a ten foot plus ... I haven't reached mine yet. I don't mind helping but at least have some clue as to what you want to get into. I'm sure there are people who are building houses that don't. It really does freak me out knowing people are getting into this not knowing 1 thing other than they need a vinyl cutter and don't know what to do. Then they decide to look for a forum and come here and ask a million questions that could be answered with using the search button. And if they are too lazy to do that or google it they are too lazy to be in this business. Happy Monday / Tuesday wheres the Tylenol?

Checked out your website Threader. Just trying to tell it like it is. There's nothing unique there. It's all clipart and copyright/trademark graphics that are floating around everywhere on the net. If you're looking to be a successful business, you need to find your niche. Vinyl cutters are a dime a dozen. Anyone can (and everyone does) make decals like yours. That market is saturated. What are your other interests or hobbies? Chances are they have use for vinyl decals. Even just talking to people and mentioning you have the capability to do something can elicit ideas and possible business opportunities.

I'd say the uses are only limited by three things. Your skill, your equipment, and your imagination.

It works fine I use a scrap of the metal with double sided tape and screws if the joints hit between ribs.

I am by no means someone who knows very much about this, but it would seem to me that if cjblevins is seeking to work exclusively with transferring graphics to fabrics, perhaps a direct-to-garment (DTG) full-color printer is worthwhile investigating?

Backups for everything. I've been where you are and now live by 2 is 1 and 1 is none.

Yes some.....havent worked on any other sites but my own lately. Wasn't getting enough business just doing websites, so started doing the vinyl, then the apparel, now dye sublimation, all to expand my products/services. There are too many online large companies that do websites for basically free....so nobody wants to pay a local guy to build one. Last year i did a website for a local large event, a RIB FEST event, did there site and updated for only $400. This year they didn't want to pay me $200 to change it for this years new updates, etc. They found someone to do it for FREE. Of course i kept all my original artwork and stuff. Then got emails from the new guy who kept asking me questions on how to do stuff.....told him i wasn't going to help.

To answer yes it can, however unlike some member I will be polite and say I hope theres a better photo. higher resolution will give a better image on the shirt.

Garbage In = Garbage Out. Looks like a pretty low resolution photo. It will look fuzzy and grainy just like it does now, unless you have the original high resolution photo.

I'm in the midst of making 100 2-layer decals for my daughter's orchestra department and thought I had a plan. I made a quick and easy layering stand using some PVC and acrylic sheet stock I had laying around where the acrylic was set on a 45 degree angle vertically; I had the decals all cut and weeded with registration marks to align the two layers; I had some lamps to use as backlighting. I was eager to get started, that's where the plan began to unravel. I didn't like the 45 degree vertical surface, the lights weren't bright enough, and the registration marks weren't in the most convenient of locations. I revamped the table to be horizontal and grabbed the 4' fluorescent light off of the ceiling and stuck it under the work surface. I then had the thought of cutting the backing piece in half to allow me to expose the registration marks in the center of the page which allowed me to apply two decals at a time instead of four, much less problematic. If you look at the photo of the 4 decals close up you can see that the only exposed and stuck surfaces are the stars right down the center. So, what's the point of all this? Two things; First to share what worked for me and what didn't. Second, to remind you that it's never to late to change the game plan in order to make things work better. Okay, now back to work during the commercial breaks of Gotham, pretty good new show.
