I don't know if anyone else on here is one of Jehovah's Witnesses but I wanted to brag! My oldest girl got baptized at our Regional Convention this last weekend, which is also why I haven't been on here for a few days.

I've been using mine for about 2 months now and LOVE IT!!!! I'm still using SBE for design and cutting with no issues. I just do part time cutting on the weekends and I have already paid this machine off, and the time and labor it has saved me is fantastic!!!!! I love the fact that I can cut right from my laptop through USB - no need for a seperate computer with a serial conncetor. My poor old Laser Point has not been turned on since I got this thing. Did I mention that I LOVE THIS THING!!!!!!!

I tried to commit to buying with the option to pay upon picking up the item but that wasn't an option. I did fully commit to buying, after paying the shipping charges ($2.52). I heard from the seller who said they didn't want to ship as they have had too many problem when shipping heavy items. I have their e-mail address, street address, and phone number so I'm feeling pretty confident. Thanks to the power of Google street view I see that the neighborhood looks pretty good, not rundown or sketchy at all. I'll be going Saturday afternoon on my way to a graduation party.

I work on 8 everyday on other peoples computers that are screwed up. I wouldn't use 8 on any of my stuff even if paid to. I truly hate it. I install classic shell on everyone I work on just to make it easier to work on. I have loaded 7 on so many clients systems that bought 8 and hated it. The only good thing about 8 is all work I got installing 7 on their systems.

If you are adobe trained then you're set my man. The cutting part is fairly simple and there are a lot of options. You might try out the week of free demo from SignCut Pro. I use it and design in Illustrator and it's a great combination and has illustrator plug-ins to cut right from the program and great live tech support. SignCut is real handy once you figure it out and has a great selection of weeding and tiling tools. Also has step-by-step cutting which can in certain circumstances greatly improve your ability to cut real long graphics with less tracking issues. I used to use the step by step a lot with my P-Cut and it saved my bacon more than once. Did I mention that it is about the only quality cutting program out there that is cross compatible windows or mac? That was one of the big factors for me.

The vector programs you mentioned ( of those 3, I only know Inkscape) are fine for tracing the original graphic. However, to effeciently arrive at my results, the important work is done in a raster-based program such as Photoshop, Gimp, or Corel. Here, once agin, knowledge of pixel based software is needed. After desaturating the image in photoshop, grab the Levels control ('Curves' works too) and pull the middle values out. This control allows you to shift the middle values (semi-transparent) objects toward pure white or black. I pushed them to white and they were gone from view. From here it's just a matter of Saving the image, tracing it in a vector program, adding back the text, and resaving.

Flaming doesn't really happen on this forum, even when it might be warranted.

My brother has dealt with Ebayers coming and going, pick up sales, for years,,at his house, and has never had a problem, He deals with the John Deere bigger yard tractors, smaller tractors selling and buying. He hauls 5th wheel trailers all over the US,as his job, and he will buy a JDeere on Ebay and get a load that direction..Pick it up, Then fix it up and sell it, So they come to his house and pick it up, or he delivers for a price. He also sells those JDeeres on Craigslist

just curious if people are warming to it - I see jay uses it. I personally still hate it and when I build a new system later this year will have win 7 pro on it, but curious how many people have converted and like it? when I use my daughters laptop with win 8 I would just about sit in the hot tub on a 95 degree day sipping hot chocolate than work on it.

cut vinyl you should be fine with the high end cast - print vinyl has the marine grade and it really really expensive. the 3000 post on blade depth has been to correct an incorrect instruction and video created by newbie techs at usc that stated to use 1/2 credit card depth for a blade length so it has been very very necessary to repeat it every day as those videos and instructions live on causing a lot of problems with accurate cuts. as far as the keyspan it has helped many people with the less than robust usb chipset and memory in the mh. many do more complicated graphics with them. but that part will show itself in more time. again glad you got it all worked out and on your way

EE here. The static build up has nothing to do with the floor or the physical room the plotter is in, it is from the vinyl itself, you can feel it some times, the hair on your arm will raise when near the vinyl just after you unroll it. You can even hear it some times as you unroll it. As dakotagrafx said, it has to go someplace and if the only discharge point it through the knife and cutter head it will likely fry something. Technically the stand doesn't need to be grounded, just the vinyl. Since most stands are metal and the vinyl is making contact with the metal, grounding the stand is the easiest option.

The grounding issue is documented by uscutter and I believe it even has something about it either in a setup video or instructions. I am glad you have it up and running but every thing that I personally stated is my honest review of the mh based on thousands of people struggling with similar issues and also on the personal experience of owning one along with a Master, Seiki, Laserpoint 1, Laserpoint 2, and a Vinyl Express qe60+. I have been inside some of these machines so many time that I can honestly say that I have more hands on time than many of the techs. My advice was free and it's up to you whether or not to use it but I really am glad you got it fixed and can enjoy the hobby that is vinyl.

The windows button and "D" should get you back to the desktop. I'm getting used to it but to be fair I just use the thing, I don't try to reengineer although I did use stardock at first to help emulate a win7 experience.

Yes and no. It boots up to a regular desktop like Win 7 but the native Win 8 apps want to stay in that environment. It's sometimes hard to get back to the desktop if you get away from it. For me at least.

Microsoft tried to get cute with Win8. Win8 is a phone / tablet OS that is being forced on the desktop world and it has been a well deserved flop. MS hedged their bets that they could get more future users by having a consistent OS experience across phone, tablet, and desktop. Win 7 was FANTASTIC!!!. I'll give them a mulligan on this one... I'm anxious to see what they do with Win9. (they totally botch every other OS anyway) Vista ring a bell? Millenium Edition? I highly recommend this site if you don't have a touch screen capable Win8 machine: http://www.classicshell.net/

Part of my business is making custom pin-back buttons using equipment from Badge-A-Minit. Each month they have a Hot Button contest and people submit their button designs for a chance to win prizes. One of my designs was selected as the Hot Button of the Month for May 2014. This is the 2nd time I've won the big prize, and I once won a runner-up prize. The first two times I won, I held on to my gift certificate for when I "really needed it" and ended up letting them both expire, so this time I had it spent within an hour of receiving it, wasn't going to waste it again! The trick to winning, I've found, is to include a good story about how the buttons are an inexpensive marketing tool and easy to sell to people - each time I've won, the design itself wasn't anything special but had a good story with it - some of the more elaborate designs that didn't have a good story didn't even get recognized...

You did a good job...the boat looks just fine. Easy weed really IS easy. I just wonder if it holds up as long as the heavier ThermoPlus. Now you're hooked on the t-shirt fun....... and wait till your friends find out you can do this! Sue2

Are you looking for all the lines or only the dark ones or just the shape in general? There are a lot of things going on in that design.
