Yesterday i posted up for some advice on applying to coroplast. Got some great feedback and some very helpful tips. Well today i went the wet application route and when i peeled the app tape back i did not see one stinkin air bubble.. I was happier than a kid on christmas morning. So here is the 3rd one i did that turned out great
Jaybird nailed it. We had a 2000 Century. Good car, comfortable and got darn good gas mileage (30+) with the V6. But, I had to do the intake gasket. If you are mechanically inclined it is just a time consuming job. Another issue it had was the LED dash lights and related gauges. That could have been about a $500 dealer fix, found a youtube video that walked me through the fix. $1.25 for resisters at Radio Shack and 45 minutes to fix...

If at all possible install install the decal in layers. Don't preassemble, air gets trapped when there are unequal levels of vinyl and your squeegee can't apply pressure equally to the vinyl.
This last snow was the worst of all year. It was on top of about a foot of snow already on the ground. Wednesday the snow was so heavy and wet, I could not even use the snow blower, I tried. It just packed in the chute. I was digging out 6" diameter packed snow pancakes. about 6-8" thick. LOL.
Some people use the R-tape with RLA. (Release Liner Adhesion)
I personally use Main Perfect Tear medium tack paper tape. I use cello tape to tape the ends down anyway before shipping, Have for years now.
I am so wanting a cutter with Servos. I like my SC but at night I need quieter, and I have servo envy after seeing alot of the servo cutters end product
It was a nightmare. I didn't use HT55 low tac transpfer tape. I didn't know it mattered. I'm still learing, still new to the game.
I sure hope that doesn't fall of from all the bullshit we went through putting it on.
That took and hour and a half. It's only 4' long by 18" high.
Leason learned. read, read and read some more on apply vinyl.
(sigh)
I order 10 yds. of most colors but the reason is the shear number of colors I stock makes 50 yds. cost prohibitive. As for age I've only had 1 roll ever age out and I bought it on clearance from my supplier and it wouldn't even stick to a banner. I have a few odd colors over 3 years old with no marked degradation and I believe 2 years shelf is listed on Oracal's site and you know they are covering their butts so I always assume at least 3-4 years.
Looks pretty good. Did the gold get off on the hoofs a little? I have found a little technique almost by accident that has helped a TON on fine detailed stuff. I use a piece of parchment paper (for backing cookies, my wife keeps huge rolls from Costco on hand), nothing sticks to that stuff. Just peel your carrier off and slap the parchment on and you can lay it right on the lower layer and see though about as good as having the whole thing on a lightbox. Then I tape it in place with a hinge and pull out the parchment paper and it's right in place at that point. It has saved me tons of times since I started using it. I still use reg marks but the added ability to nail a perfect placement is nice.
Get rid of the Greenstar. vinyl for starters. and get some good vinyl. The Greenstar stuff I saw, was stiff and thick. Not pliable like Oracal 651. I have seen others write, they use it to cover their shelves, tape boxes. Practice with,.
Those be them... They just got the standard options, Good Luck!
When working with templates always verify measurements as a flat image can't account for convex or concave curvatures of the vehicle bodies.
There are many options for both of these vans.... I've attached the 2 most common. If you have the wheel base and total length for both I can give you the correct files.
