$995 for a cutter with a stepper motor...wow. Definitely might want to pay the extra $300 for the servo.

Get a zip-top bag, preferably a heavy duty one, and a cut a hole in the side just large enough for the area you want to engrave. Put the ipod inside the bag and thoroughly tape the perimeter of the hole to keep all dust and abrasive away from the rest of the device. Then, after you're done blasting, detach the blaster and attach a dusting nozzle (or anything that will let you blow air from the compressor) and blow off any and all dust and abrasive remaining on the outside. Then, take a paper towel lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol or clean water and wipe off the etched area and then the rest of the bag to remove any dust or abrasive left behind. Then, take the bag somewhere well away from where you did the blasting and remove the ipod from inside the bag and make sure there is no dust on the device - if there is, blow it off with your breath or a can of compressed air - don't try to wipe it away as it will scratch the device and the screen!

Did this pitcher and some glasses for a fundraiser at my wife's church, she loved it. I was pleasantly surprised that the fine details came out, previously I would blow the vinyl off, must have been using too much pressure. On a side note, I found a use for some old app tape I wasn't using (paper app tape). I used it instead of painters tape to mask off the areas I didn't want etched and it worked great; protected the glass and came off easy. I do need to get better at placing the design though, I wish I had placed the cross higher on the pitcher.

since you are using USB, are you also using a keyspan adapter? The SC cutters have a very small memory and can't handle larger files so you must use a keyspan adapter to help out. Belkin brand. Also, make sure you ground your cutter to your stand (if you have one).

Tons of threads on this very issue.... off the top of my head (and seeing this is your first post) most likely a grounding issue and/or a com issue or, static. first.... are you connected via USB connection?

UScutter does not do support for SCALP. They did not create the software Craftedge.com does support for Scalp.. Contact Craftedge.com Just like Adobe is support for Illustrator. Have you done all the updates for SCALP? Is your cutter actually cutting the design like that? Or does it just look distorted on the screen? Post your file and let someone look at it.

i figured it out, i took the cover off the cutting head and found all the screws were coming loose causing the blade holder to wobble and drag

You mean without using transfer tape? yes it would be possible. Probably would be easier to apply the background wet rather than dry though.

You guys really helped me out. Turns out, the carriage was off track. I should've realized something was wrong when I noticed it was dragging a bit with the forward motion of the vinyl. Since I'm new, I didn't know any better. But I just wiggled it upwards and placed the wheels on the track. Now it's cutting perfect squares! Thank you all so much!

I remember when we first started, we wanted to just set up a booth somewhere and sell vinyl decals. A few years later and 95% of our work is t-shirt related. It's funny how you find your market.

Small details like taking 15 seconds to make sure your lines are level and straight make all the difference.

Select the object Paths>Trace Bitmap Radio button "Colors" Here's where you can play with the "Smooth", "Stack Scans" and "Remove Background" options to learn what that's all about. Click "update" to preview Click "oK" to trace Seperate the 2 images you are left with and delete the Raster {bitmap) one. You are left with the Vector image... Save to desired format. Rinse & Repeat til mastered.

I have received so much items for the business, I received 13X19 sublimation paper, mug sized sublimation paper, Unisub's dog tag jig, 4 charm bracelets, 10 sublimated license plates,CMYK bottles of sublimation ink, CMYK bottles of UV archival pigment ink, cleaning cartridges, and a bottle of cleaning fluid, that was all Friday. Now today Saturday I received my CIS parts from cobra, 2'X10' roll of Diamond Plate Vinyl, and 5 free samples of Subli-Patch. I seriously cant wait to get things rolling after Ghost Adventures.

Hey it looks great and even matches the body lines and looks straight. I am continually amazed at how crooked some people get their graphics sometimes.

Check the blade carraige. One member had issues and her carraige had jumped the track.. Both circles are not messed up the same, so I would guess its movement either in the carraige or the vinyl slipping. again just a guess
