if they carry them "best" products I have found is Marck http://www.marckassoc.com - you do have to go thru the whole set up process with your license to buy but quality wise they are hard to beat - price wise not so much. I came to the point a few years ago that I would rather pay .50 more and get no broken product and have a much sturdier product with even coatings and have not gone back to any of my old suppliers

These 2 brands are what is highly recommended to be used with vinyl cutters.. Mentioned tons of times on this forum.. Tripplite is the only brand that UScutter will sell. Can you use a serial card in your computer to the cutter,? Your welcome

The other guys do use solvent prints that's why. When you use pigment or dye based inks, they just don't last long.

I too prefer wholesale shirts but have done more wally world shirts than I can count and never had a failure that I know of. Only failures I have had were from lack of pressure right beside a collar (before I bought a pressing pillow) and a few when I first got my press and didn't know the heat was way too cool.

thats how many of us did it only we started much lower on the totem pole - I started with a p cut and kept working up every year or so. buying a cutter isn't the end = plan on updates and upgrades. I updated the graphtec last year I think it was and the roland printer just the past couple of months - I try to update every 3 years or so now. nothing wrong with starting with a value cutter - in fact they teach you a LOT about set up and troubleshooting - then you appreciate the better ones later when you decide the business is for you

Thanks all. I have been lurking here for a while. I'm not ashamed to admit that when I was on job sites I came here and looked for tips and tricks.

It was a hard choice to even update . . . But you have to distinguish yourself from the run of the mill printer. My father has sold the best oil in the country for over 45 years and successfully test against any other brand . . . He thought about changing and selling a cheaper oil but couldn't bring himself to do it . . . . He has influenced me greatly in that respect

I was sitting here trying to figure up my expenses on a few decals I just made, and thought why not just make a spread sheet that does it for me. So I sat down and figured out the formulas and here ya go. I have attached the Excel file here. I was going to get a little more advanced, and I am up for suggestions. It will let you put the Name of the vinyl, your Supplier, the width and length, then it calculates your cost per square yard, foot and inch. Then at the end you can put in a length and width for a sign or decal and the number of color layers and with let you know the cost per decal/sign. It's basically a running list of your materials with some calculations in it. So you get a new roll, you put it in the sheet while you have the invoice handy and then when you need to know what a project it going to cost you enter the numbers. Kind of like a mini Inventory. If you have more rolls that the sheet I sent uses, just copy a row and paste it back in below the bottom. It should copy the formulas etc into the new row. Let me know what you think. This was done in Excel 2000, but it should open using OpenOffice spreadsheet too if you have it. ***EDIT: Updated this one to the new version, Roll Vinyl Calculator 2.zip Roll Vinyl Calculator 2.zip
