Yup gonna miss it but also got 12 acres in Tennessee waiting on me and a dying mother to tend to so somebody else can play with my awesome elevator . Truth is it hurts to do it but life goes on.

The President of the United States requested that we honor France in this time of tragedy. I just took some white coroplast 18x24 blanks and laid down the rectangles. Placed several out front of the shop, on the lawn.

I just inherited 2 plotters and a metric ton of 30" vinyl. I have years of install experience but now I own everything I need for a sign shop. Flexi 8 and 10. A dozen 4x8 sheets of white and black coroplast, half dozen sheets of alumalite, multiple size scraps. I know how to survey, mock up, cut and install vinyl. Just have no clue how to properly bid/price jobs.

I have built a few Wordpress sites and had decent results with Hostgator.com the last few years. ... not too hard to manage if you have a little software savvy. ... and (it seems) everyone wants 'cheap'.

I live just across the river from Louisville. I've had a package go from Nashville, to Louisville, to Indianapolis to Louisville then out for delivery with UPS. Then I had a DVD I ordered go from less than 3 blocks from me to IL, then Hebron, KY which is near Cincy and back to Louisville. Took 3 weeks through USPS. If I would have known the place shipping it was 3 blocks away I would have walked there and picked it up.

DC mentioned another great method (envelope) Text on a path is the preferred method for a clean look but arched text in some instances produces a good look. Usually with lower arch/arc values like in the High School lettering. See the Arched leaves the lettering vertical whereas the Arced causes the letters to swell at the top to fit the arc. Once you leave about a 35% arch/arc either quick method starts distorting the text. (Again I'm not sure if SCALP can do these but I think Inscape can)

thanks you all for your suggestions, they worked. i switched to sign blazer, used the keyspan adapter and simplified the image in illustrator. i got a few maps cut out and even had time to start staining some of the orders.

So i use Ai cs6 and i get 1000x better results and send to scalps or just inport svg and cut... So far nothing beats Ai in my own opinion.

The type on path function in 4 still sucks. The actual arcing feature is decent. But you're right, AI hands down.

A lot of softwares and devices are not ready for Windows 10. No updated drivers.. Many people had to roll back to windows 8 or 7 because their vinyl cutters and softwares, went dead...or acted a mess..

Sign blazer is one of the best for giving text an arc I think, that's about the only thing I use it for. Give it a try. Donn

That's smart to begin with paper and pen. Good job. Many people fail to go that route at the start and it's a better way to learn your machine. I don't use the software you are but I see looking at it that the design width is actually over 11 inches so you would be running off no matter what you do. Once you place your paper (or vinyl) you will move your cutting head to the spot you want to call zero (or the edge of the cut in both directions) Then you will zero out your machine. This is usually done on the machine and will give it a starting point of zero x and zero y axis to start cutting from. The other potential problem that you can get into is whether it will cut from there immediately into the design or whether WYSIWG (What You See Is What You Get) which will offset from the edge of your work space the same as you have it sitting on your computer. Most of us don't cut in WYSIWG but occasionally it works better like if you are cutting stencils and want some space around the edges of the design. Hopefully this helps. Most of the time I don't try and use the vinyl under the rollers. Some do some don't.

Best thing is to put a value cutter on a Tripp lite Keyspan adapter or a Belkin.., those are the brand names. Value cutters don't have true USB connection. Very flakey Your welcome
