Been doing vinyl about a year now, come to this site regularly for advice. Figured it was about time to post some of my stuff for critique... Be nice, but be honest. Majored in art, so I can take "constructive" advice

I produce signs like these daily, and the work brings in plenty of cash. These three jobs were billed at over $600. A-Frame for a storefront church (2' x 3' coroplast) Wedding placard - LOVE - (3' x 4' pvc) Yard signs for restaurant (1.5' x 2' coroplast) By the way, that rose came directly from the Library in SignBlazer. So did the prayer book (I've simply added the cross) and the fancy separator in the church sign. I use reverses often, it's a quick way to make things stand out.

I am sure this is no surprise...... I too have been moved to go elsewhere. I have used Sign Warehouse now several times (thanks to US Cutter) and have no problems. I have even been contacted by them twice out of the blue welcoming me for being a new customer and to follow up on my order to see if my stuff arrive quickly and unharmed. So far so good for me.

Black sheep here, my last purchase with Sign warehouse actually impressed me. I was contacted by a sales rep out of the blue one day so I ordered some vinyl remover, Teflon sheets and frog juice. The order showed up fast. Unfortunately the vinyl remover leaked in the package and ruined the Teflon sheets though. I emailed the rep that evening and she responded with a tracking number the next morning. She reshipped the entire order, no questions asked. She apologized repeatedly and said she would personally ensure my future orders would be shipped in a way to prevent this from happening again. I agree that it has always been cheaper to order from US Cutter mainly because of the $9 shipping. I have had neutral and negative experiences with USC but never been impressed. Recently I found a local supplier that I never knew existed. They are cheaper then everyone else and have amazing service. The killer part is that if I don't have time for the 10 minute drive they will deliver my order for $7 the same (morning order) or next day (afternoon). They do not carry removable wall vinyl though so I will continue to order Oracle 631 from US Cutter.

after cutting the tip of my finger off, I bought a safety ruler-long- to go along with my rotary cutter. The hand held rotary.

I got my first cutter from Sign Warehouse (and paid $49.95 shipping vs. $9 for any order from US Cutter) and the one time I needed support it took numerous attempts to contact them before I finally got a call back telling me "Yeah, sorry, you didn't buy a professional grade cutter and so you need to buy a better cutter - your cutter can't do that.". That was the last time I called Sign Warehouse and I switched to US Cutter almost exclusively for my supplies (I do get some oddball stuff from other vendors if US Cutter doesn't carry it) as their $9 for any order pricing usually smokes the competition on prices (when shipped). When I ordered my Graphtec package it came in 3 very large, very heavy boxes and arrived less than 72 hours after I ordered it and it only cost $9 to ship... it's really hard to beat that. Edit: I forgot to add, no matter where you buy your cutter and supplies, these forums are open to everyone, so you can always come here for help... You don't find that at many competitors, either...

All right, lets give the Mickey Mouse guy some info, although we're not reps of US CUTTER. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/38914-about-to-buy-new-ce6000-60/?p=297356 Your underlying question is just like asking "why buy from one car dealership vs. another?" Pricing is just one factor, and there are other considerations, such as --- support, service, and who you intend to enter a business relationship with. Remember one thing ----- As soon as you plug it in, you'll be needing consumables. If you want to be a customer of USCUTTER, you will be able to order and have them ship ASAP. Many people on these forums do just that. I don't know anything about SignWarehouse, and you will have to do your own investigation about them.

If you would go into that same Vinyl Category...thread that you posted this question in, you would see your question has been asked and answered a zillion times, same for the "transfer tape" that is the tacky film you are referring to. .. Have fun reading...Forum is open 24-7.... Just look at the Thread titles.

It'd be the first time I knowingly bought a broken cutter. I may be going backwards here but is a broke Graphtec better than a chinese cutter? Maybe.

Go with a Graphtec, more bang for your buck. .. You have to pay extra for a stand with a Roland.at a higher price. And I would never purchase a vinyl cutter without a stand. Graphtec has more force than the Roland. For thicker materials. I have never had a problem with my Graphtec, Purchased new 2008. I also purchased a CE5000-60 for son in spring 2012. Never a problem.. And is great for small detailed work. That Graphtec CE5000-60 bundle is on sale $1525.50. I would still buy it, and save some money over the CE6000 http://www.uscutter.com/Graphtec-CE5000-Series-Vinyl-Cutter-Equipment-Bundle

thank you so much everyone. i am once again at work and didn't have time at home to look at this. i believe i will be able to smooth down the edge a little to make that a happier cut, i just couldn't get the word inserted. OW, your sequence of pics looks like what i tried but i just couldn't get the line behind to disappear. I guess i needed to 'add' a node at the points at which i wanted the line to disappear? I sure need some video tuts. Other than experience, how did everyone learn all these tips. ? Does anyone on here have tuts and if not, you geniuses need to make some. Thanks again all. I still need to post my pig for the neighbors grill but he hasn't applied yet.

I used a 24" Lp1 for quite a while and upgraded to a Graphtec. Man what a difference on the smaller stuff and the tracking on the long runs.

Yeah, anyone who is serious about mugs will skip a mug press and go with wraps. The mug presses just don't apply even heat over the entire surface of the mug, especially the handles. Scott/Dakotagrafx has posted some excellent example pics showing how the wraps give you consistent color edge to edge without the fading you see around the handles in a press. Also, by going with wraps, you can add a new wrap for a new size mug for $20-30, vs. buying a whole new mug press to do a different size. I picked up a counter top convection oven for around $20 at a live auction and use that for doing non-flat pressings - mugs and crescent award glass from LRI - no way could those be done in a press... Oops, I stand corrected - they now offer a 3D heat press - http://www.laserreproductions.com/Sublimation-3D-Heat-Press-Package.html I've not seen anyone ever post "I bought a 5/6-in-one press and love it and it was worth every cent!"... I guess you could always be the first...

This is something my wife came up with. She asked me if i could cut the words in vinyl. She stuck the vinyl down and the painted over it in black and this is the end result.. She does the bottle caps on a daily basis for people.. I thought this truned out pretty good.. Her caps are covered with resin so the image never fades or gets destroyed
