I decided to get out of dye sub and move into a slightly different market. I have been reading everything I could about CNC Routers and calling up all the manufactures in my price range with lots of questions the last two months. I decided early on I did not want to build one because I would rather spend my time learning the software. I also wanted all metal except the spoil board and not HDPE which narrowed down my choices considerable. In the end I went with a Probotix Comet It arrived this afternoon and I was up and cutting in a few hours. I will say I have a lot to learn but I have had a smile on my face all night

I received a couple of these 3 weeks before I went to Indy. I had some ideas but then some company started a contest for patriotic work we did. So I created this. It is sublimation and curious what everything thinks. Yes i know you all have seen the artwork but adding the American flag and putting it on an aluminum sign just is sort of neat looking to me. Then I decided to enter the can coolie as well. Any and all feedback is welcome.

I am going to take this Color chart from my Corel Draw X7 and transfer it to 5 Colored shirts and see what colors play well with others....Going to Sublimate on one side and JPSS the other......Figure this is the best way to show customers what can be done on colored shirts....Stay tuned for the results.....

Some others ordered them also above... Even if 75% off, they still should work right.

We have a soup kitchen here in town called Blessings Soup Kitchen. Unlike what most people think of when they hear "soup kitchen" this one is a lunch-only restaurant where you pay only what you can afford - if you can afford anything. Each day of the week is a different meal, and it's usually not soup... Anyway, shortly after they opened, I made 20 "I (heart) Blessings Soup Kitchen" buttons and took them down along with a $0 invoice. I told them that they were welcome to wear them, sell them for a profit, whatever, and if they wanted more to give me a call some day. Flash forward a few months and I get a call today that starts out with "Are you Michael from Ottumwa Decal? Did you make us some free buttons a while back?" and she proceeds to tell me that she would like to get a few more. They're starting a Blessings Baking Club with various church groups that will donate baked goods to the kitchen and she would like to give buttons to the church ladies who volunteer. She asks how much they would cost, and I tell her it all depends on quantity and she then proceeds to order 200 buttons and insists that she be allowed to pay for them. Well, if you insist... I guess I'll take your money... ow, ow, quit twisting my arm! Buttons cost me ~$0.10 each to make, so I put $2.00 into the original free gift and now plan to earn that back plus a lot more and I don't even feel guilty about it. Not everyone can see the value in inexpensive promotional items - until they get their hands on them and see that people actually want them... Then they're willing to place an order and spend money.

Yes SCALP4 will open all previus versions. But will ask you to resave as a scut4 file extension if you need to modify and resave.

Joe, You are wanting to turn a regular photo into a cutable silhouette? Skarekrow will have the best advice. I have an old version CS2 of photoshop and I turn it into a black and white then play with the threshold to get it close and then trace it with AI but auto trace tends to make a lot of noise. Also occasionally do the trace in AI with the color settings on 2 or 3 colors and get that layered look that is pretty good. Have only done this once and spent a lot of time cleaning up so I could cut it.

Walking Dead is on summer hiatus, but coming back in October - plus there is a spin-off series that is supposed to be starting, too. Zombies are always popular!

Your welcome. I was just sitting here trying to put together a little visual explanation. But if you got it that's great. There are a lot of tool that Flexi offers that I use and they are accessible through the View then click Toolbars. You have space on your desktop to place them. I use Group, Align, Combine, Order and Path Edit. Once you click the check box to choose a toolbar it will place it on the desktop. You can then just grab it with your mouse and drag it to the borders. Here is my desktop

Maybe Zebratrace? http://maxim-s-barabash.github.io/ZebraTrace/ It takes some fiddling to get it to come out cuttable.

Yes there is. It's in the Combine tool bar and it's called remove overlap. However it can be tricky to use, especially with your EPS file. That file has many layers that need to be sorted out. Once you get the file down to two layers you group each layer together, select both layers and click on the remove overlap icon. Now it's going to trim the bottom layer right back to the upper layer. there won't be a gap between the layers like in Moody Blue's version. For that you'll have put an outline around the rank insignia, remove overlap and then remove the outline. This is a powerful program and if you really want to master it I suggest that you pick up Mark Rugan's tutorial videos. They are well worth looking into.

Hopefully it will be a good investment One of the main reasons I decided to go the CNC route is exactly what Dakotagrafx said there are not many people offering it especially if you compare it to cut vinyl which is very over saturated unless you have a really good niche or are selling trademarked decals.. Thanks Guys. Once I get past the learning curve there is just so much you can do with a CNC

For walkins they go for buffied, ariston, old English, waltograph and penhurst but it changes all the time. For design work I use whatever I feel works best.

I've had a cheap chinese swing away for a few years and it gets the job done. The main problem I see is there are so many different contours to the front of the hat depending on style/ manufacturer that it's impossible to get a lower platen that'll work well with all of them.

like little dovetails? Try a little over cut in your cutting software. Also make a small square,, and make sure the corners are sharp...If not adjust the blade offset a little. 0.25mm is about normal... then adjust at 0.05+ or minus 0.05 and see if better or worse...

Make sure you didn't break a tip. A lot of people (Myself included) knock the GS vinyl but IMO it actually cuts pretty good. Some have trouble but I never have (with the cutting). I have never tried Arlon 5000 that I remember but I have tried several others including what my local guys sell here and find almost nothing that I like as well as Oracal (now Orafol) The 651 us a great intermediate calendared and the 751/951 are fantastic for higher end work. I have a roll of Scotcal (3m/gerber Series 50 calendared) that i bought locally and I hate it and try to use it up every chance I get that is something without small lettering because it weeds about like sucking pond water through a straw.
