3 pointsThat is 100% correct. No point in getting defensive when you ask opinion. Opinions were given, not their faults you didnt care for their opinion that you asked for

1 pointSome of you know I have an old Pinto wagon and they're famous for blowing up when rear ended. Well I was watching the news this morning and they were talking about a recall on Jeep Grand Cherokee same as my shop truck. Wanna guess what the recall is for? Potential fuel tank explosion if rear ended. I think I should just buy a bicycle before I of my rides kill me.

1 pointMy question to those of you who don't care for the design, layout, or whatever the case may be... if in that same situation, would you all have turned down a $900 job, because you disagree with the way they wanted things? I'm not in a place that I have enough business, to be able to turn down an order of that size I guess. Maybe eventually, I'll get there... but, even then, I'm not sure I'll be the type of business person that turns down an order because it's not to my personal liking. I see all of your points, and my feelings aren't at all hurt by any of the comments or criticisms here. Like others have said, I do believe that if you don't want to hear what others think, don't post it. I was aware that not everyone would think I did a good job, and I'm alright with that. I'll always take what others have to say, and use what I can to improve. And if anyone has any suggestions as to how to more effectively sway someone into a different design realm, please do share- because I did try, and more than once.

1 pointEver hear of a starving artist, Personally I like steak, I try to guide but in the end it's their money and their choice. What you are telling me is I should force conformity based on my views of what is appealing to the eye and what is not. I think that was tried before in Germany as well as a few other places and never ended well.

1 pointI guess the way that I see it, is that it's not how I would have chosen to showcase the design. But, the work is good. It's quality work, with quality materials. Everyone has a different view of what looks good, and what doesn't. Do I love the layout? No. And even more than that, I dislike the way they spread all of their lettering out all over the truck. It isn't eye catching, and certainly not how I would choose to showcase MY business. But, I'll be known as someone who does what the customer wants, and the way they want it with quality and efficiency. I advertise "Custom" work... that doesn't mean doing things MY way, on THEIR product.

1 pointAs I read through this entire thread.... I spotted where I have been guilty of both attitudes..... There have been times when I did exactly as asked.... after issuing warnings.... AND There have been times when I let the person know that they needed to have their request filled somewhere else....... I'm thinking there is room for both avenues depending on circumstances.

1 pointSome people think anything more than 1 color should be printed, I tend to like the look and durability of cut vinyl. That and I don't own a printer...

1 pointChoppy? are you sure there is something wrong with it or is it just the low quality image Signblazer produces on the screen? try zooming in and out to see if the choppy look changes. Do your settings match what I posted? Are you selecting "Import" and "use full postscript interpreter"? If you post the eps and svg we can look at them but I understand if its not something you can share.

1 pointHad to kind of chuckle about this. As with many of you, I am signed into other cutter forums.... But, this is kinda like home to me. I lurked here gathering knowledge BEFORE I bought my cutter. Folks in this forum are most accommodating. When I posted my first cut.... Most commented about the non-readability of my font..... Which I knew... (But I wanted to see if I could cut something with fine cuts) The one who slayed me .... Was Slice and Dice...... He told me I wanted too much for the car... Cracked me up...... This place is simply a good online coffee house for cutters

1 pointI used to do sales and construction for a flamboyantly gay florist / interior designer. There was never a dull moment around him and he was very successful. I witnessed him on numerous occasions "fire" a customer because they questioned his opinion or design. When I had just started working for him he had me deliver a full size van full of flowers, decorations, centerpieces and large pots for a high class party. The lady mentioned to me when I was setting everything up that some of the flowers were not what she expected. I stepped outside and called the boss so he could fix the problem and keep the customer happy. The boss said to load everything up and bring it back. I didn't understand at the moment and told the customer that he said to take everything back, we both thought he was going to fix it for her. To my surprise back at the shop the boss was angry and yelling that she dare speak that way about his work and that she wasn't getting anything from him! I couldn't believe it that he fired a customer! I did realize that his snooty attitude kept him in business with the super rich elite members of the community and aloud him to charge ABSURD amounts of money for his products. The moral of the story is that in some situations this type of attitude can work but more times than not, you will lose out on business. P.S. my old boss is dead because he was shot point blank in the face by his neighbor about a year ago.

1 pointI somewhat disagree with a few sentiments here. I have principals about the quality of work I want to produce. If the potential client's opinion is going to get in the way and severely compromise the final product, I'll pass on the project. (In my mind, I fired them!) ...and I don't lack work either.

1 pointThere are no hard and fast rules about whitespace (negative space)... Peter Bilak wrote: "Right and wrong do not exist in graphic design. There is only effective and non-effective communication."

1 pointHappy customer = happy bank acct. Our opinions mean nothing as long as they are happy.
-
1 pointThey wanted the negative space on the signs, I questioned that myself, before cutting anything, and that's exactly how they wanted it. I had pictures to follow, showing how they wanted the lettering... so while Moore's may not follow an exact arc, it's to their specifications. And most importantly, they love them.

1 pointI'll go one step further with this --- Let's suppose that Leon wants to put a decal onto an RC car for his son. Is the Roush Fenway Racing team even OFFERING such a thing in the marketplace? In other words, just because someone has a copyrighted image, that doesn't mean they are actually providing the public with an opportunity to obtain the image in any retail outlet.

1 pointAlways thought it said "Slutlife" and was wondering why people would have that on their car haha.

1 pointYou can check the ribbbon cables inside the unit to make sure they are connected securely. You will only have to remove 2 screws to get to the cables. If the two ribbon cables appear to be ok, it is more than likely just a bad control panel which is $50 from UScutter. If it is the motherboard, you are looking at $150 for a replacement from UScutter. If you would like, you can send me your control panel and I can test it on my machine to see if the control panel is faulty.
