Sue2 920 Posted January 23, 2016 Weather report from the tip top of Virginia..... This was our back patio this morning at 9AM.. It was about 18-20" deep with the drifts going to about 30". Have had to shovel out a space for the dog three times so far......... Snowing here now about 2" per hour and is expected to continue until late this afternoon. Reports say we have had 30" so far.... Thankfully, so far no power outages. Oh, fun...got to shovel the dog a spot again! Sue2

Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted January 23, 2016 wow - keep warm even though you have to keep up on the accumulation. it is kind of weird to see someone else getting hammered while we are getting little - usually with the lake effect snow we get hammered while everyone else gets a little
mfatty500 454 Posted January 23, 2016 Looks nice, just keep it there, we got little to none here in the Western Suburbs of Chicago

Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted January 23, 2016 during the great 1978 blizzard I had a friend that stayed up all night plowing the snow from the driveway across the yard and filling as it kept going - in the morning he had a clear drive even though the road was impassible but he chuckled as the rest of the neightborhood was paying big bucks for a loader to come in and dig out their driveways because it was too deep to shovel anywhere. the only indication of my pinto was the 4 ft cb antenna that was attached to the cars gutter (remember when cars had little gutters to keep the rain from running inside the car when you opened the window lol)

Sue2 920 Posted January 23, 2016 Woo-hoo! They lowered the forecast of 8-9 MORE inches of snow to ONLY 2.8" It's getting hard to toss those shovelfuls over the growing piles of snow! They are saying we are at 30" so far. The end of this weather is near.....really!
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted January 23, 2016 Doesn't look like you're going out that gate for a while. Stay safe
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted January 23, 2016 hopefully another one doesn't come right behind it - el nino is wreaking havok everywhere. now if only there was a cheap way to send a snow blower down there to sell it. stay safe is the most important thing - seems like every year up here several people push too hard in the snow and have heart attacks. Sue2 920 Posted January 23, 2016 It's officially 33" now and still snowing... & it's up to the bottom of the mailbox out front. Again, thankfully no power outages...probably because the snow is light....but that makes for great BIG drifts.

dcbevins 340 Posted January 23, 2016 I am in far western Va., (the other tip.) When you get to Roanoke, keep driving west 4 hours. We only got about half a foot or so. The middle school wrestling couch, some of the wrestler's and a man or two from local churches were going door to door with an ATV and some shovels, shoveling sidewalks. They refused all monetary offers. Pretty nice to get your walk shoveled.

busterbay 326 Posted January 24, 2016 I live in the Midwest and the last few years we had our share of snow. Here is proof you can get your car out. This is my truck last year, it took a few days to dig it out the 3rd bay of garage didn't thaw out until April. Hang in there it gets better.
