QUOTE> "he said if i didn't do it (paint over the existing vinyl) then he would find someone who would.. " Tell him to do just that. (or, alternately, commit yourself to being just another face in the vinyl crowd; without principle and willing to do anything for a buck.)

So the wife and I took a trip to South Western Va. And Eastern Tennessee Bristol,Johnson City, Greeneville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg I get back and a few days later get a ticket from Bluff City Tn. From a camera generated speed radar. The fine is only $50.00 so it's not feasible to go and contest the ticket. It had 3 photos of my truck with a close up on the license plate. Like the small fine is conducive to just pay and no points. I will pay it but it seems like a crappy way I f issuing a ticket. By the way I don't remember Bluff City but I was mostly on 321/11 i81 and I 40

everyone decides what amount of risk they wish to take in this business - some just chose to not mention it on an open internet forum . . . being from north of the chicago area I am sure you had seen this one from that area a couple of months ago - I am sure they are not looking for more people in that area that might be filing the void. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1MSIM_enUS596US596&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=arrest+for+selling+sports+logo+goods https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/chicago-area-business-owner-arrested-selling-unlicensed-sports-merchandise

I didn't call any names... I described an activity I try and avoid. And note the word "Anything". I work for money too but, it doesn't control my decisions. My work ethics and principles are mostly responsible for that. You folks get to make up your own. If money is your main objective, then go for it. Seriously, your client is just next in line. There will be another after him.

I bought a Key Span and everything worked and has been working perfectly. I'd get one Qaquinonez, you never know. It's worth it.

I'm new in this. I just got my Vinyl Express R series II, it came with the "Vinyl Express® LXi Apprentice". I had the same problem many of you described. Getting a lot of random lines. I thougth that my EPS files where wrong. Change to several versions but with no luck. I then decided to get the Flexi Sign Cloud Subscription... and same problem... At this point I thought that the problem will be the cutter. "Vinyl Express® LXi Apprentice" and Flexi are from the same company. SOLUTION: 1. I changed the speed to cut on the cutter panel to 300 2. When you press the plot/cut option you have an option that is 10 inches enhanced cutting. This option is checked by default. Unchecked this option, this will cut all elements in the order elements where created. This fixed the problem for me. Hope this will help.

I wont be taking the cutter or press out on jobs I have a cheap press for that, along with an older laptop, and printer for t-shirts and I will probably use my Silhouette for decals, and HTV on the road.

There will always be trial and errors its the name of the game if for seasoned professionals. As for your questions you have to measure each item, and draw them out in a program, either a vinyl cutting program which you can find a lot about on this forum, or you can create it using Adobe Illustrator,Corel Draw, or a free program called inkscape. Then save the file as one that a cutting program will open such as .eps etc (depend son cutting program). I wont deny that there are programs that can help with the dimensions but its always a good thing to measure out the items you want to wrap/ put decals on. Seems you just want to rush into doing this without you having to do much work, unfortunately that is not the case for vinyl cutting. This is harder than you think, you have to have a sense of graphic design, understanding how nodes work and so much more. I suggest you watching some videos on youtube to get the full understanding of how the mechanics work from the program to the cutter works. As for your equipment you want to get the best you can afford, the cheaper the cutter the worst it is. Its like the saying you get what you pay for. Same for vinyl and tools. Like I said learn the mechanics of this before you dive head first into this business. And the search function on this forum is your best friend along with YouTube. In no way am I trying to say don't get into this or anything like that just know a few people where I live that jumped in and put lots of money into it and failed cause they thought everything was 1,2,3 and make money. However some have done it that way and been successful. I hope I gave some answers that helped and I didn't come off as a big jerk lol.

There are no settings set in stone, every cutter machine will vary. Once you set your blade depth correctly, then you adjust the force, With blade offset start at 0.25mm Adjust at 0.05 + or minus...until a square has sharp corners. Speed depends on what you are cutting, material and design. I cut small text slow, as well as detailed designs. Here is how to set you blade depth correctly. To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting. You should only be cutting the vinyl and barely a mark on wax paper backing, Adjust blade to get there, Then put the blade holder back in machine, and use the force of the machine to get there, same results, only cutting the vinyl and barely a mark in wax paper backing.

With all due respect, I asked for a little constructive advice ... I didn't have "$500" to spare- and thought this would be fun- I bought the 50" cutter and wanted a good starting point because there are a lack of businesses in our area to provide this service satisfactorily. My husband needed decals for his truck and hadn't had great success getting what he wanted when he wanted it so we thought we'd give it a go. It sounds to me, like everything else, even the most experienced of user have issues, but it's a lot of trial and error and listening to advice from those that have more experience. I didn't want a costly investment on something that I might not like to do on an ongoing basis. Everyone has to start somewhere and so far this seems to have been a good small investment. I have had a ton of success cutting with this machine so far thanks to the willingness of the helpful people on these boards that help out - and the great advice from the UC Cutter people. I have narrowed down the possible issues and am trying again this morning. I had increased the pressure and it seems my depth might be too deep -so I might have been using too high a pressure & too deep a cut for this type of big project. Tammy

try youtube.com do searches... I don't use LXI. It is just rebranded Flexi...

it wouldn't be called layering,, you would be cutting by color, selecting objects by color. layering is what you do with the vinyl after it is cut..

It has to be a vector file.. Inkscape.org It is a FREE program.. http://support.uscut...s-with-inkscape

you have to make registration marks on your design, don't put the design in wireframe mode. Click the color you want to cut first. then advance to the next color

Lxi apprentice is the same as Flexistarter, I have been using Flexistarter for over 5 years. No problems. Any design image will have be vectorized in any software you use or you can't cut it. Then you import the vector image in LXI.. You have to learn any software. Flexistarter will cut layers and so will LXI. At the top of your layout screen.. Should be HELP. Click it and read. You can't just cut clipart in any cutting software, without it being a vector first. Signblazer is FREE for windows only. LXI can import more different and current formats than Signblazer.
