I bought my cutter in September and started glass etching in November. I had never done any of this before. I figured out I love etching Glass! Here is some of the stuff that I have done. I build all the my own frames and bases also. Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Travis The first thing I cut with my cutter Glass etched with oak base and led edge lighting. Subject: Grandpa Gets An iPad... The following short clip that takes 32 secs. A daughter is visiting her father and is helping in the kitchen. She asks: "Tell me dad, how are you managing with the new iPad we gave you for your birthday?" This clip is spoken in German but it's totally understandable in any language. http://www.snotr.com/embed/8965 Love it Sue2

I was looking local for the printer but honestly, having cobra set it up ahead of time seems to be the best bet.

I usually shoot for 1/4" minimum and it probably wouldn't hurt to overlap with the flow but I would seriously doubt there will be any lifting issues. If it's not cast then you will want a little more because it will shrink.

Going to order a Epson WF7110 from CobraInks all set up and ready to go. Seems to be the best price on the CIS system with the printer. Getting the Sublimation inks as well. I'm also gonna take a peek over at Conde to pick up a few things. Any suggestions on items to start out with. I'd like to do some shirts, Dog Tags, Lic plates. Phone cases are big on my list and not sure what to start out with. I read that for iPhones it's a good idea to stay away from the aluminum plates for the phone cases. Just looking for some ideas on what papers for shirts mugs etc I start out with. I figure to stock up on ink as well. I can't imagine the 4oz that comes with the printer lasts very long with cleaning every other day or so. I was thinking the Richo but after looking at those ink prices..nahhhh Plus the Epson gives me a larger format as well. BTW, I blame you all for this purchase!!!!...LOL Joe

sounds like maybe you don't have your blade set correctly. Set it like this. Also make sure that you haven't broken the blade tip off. To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting. You should only be cutting the vinyl and barely a mark on wax paper backing, Adjust blade to get there, Then put the blade holder back in machine, and use the force of the machine to get there, same results, only cutting the vinyl and barely a mark in wax paper backing.

Do it like your cutter would cut. it cuts with the blade tip.

If your blade depth is set correctly, it could not cut thru the vinyl.. Yea it's `addictive. I bought the carts for a printer I grabbed on holiday sale and added a set of 2oz bottles so your 4's will be plenty to keep you rolling. I don't do a huge amount of regular printing but only go through a 2oz bottle set for the pigment printer about every 8-10 months. Richard has paper there as well at Cobra.

I don't use cut master either but I upgraded my OS X 10.6 to the new 10.10 and really didn't suffer much. I had to upgrade Fontagent Pro which cost $50 but the new version works much better with AI so that was a plus too.

Scalpro will cut lines across the work if it's not registered / activated.

I do this after every job.

My $30 would include slapping them right onto the truck sides (first giving it a wipe-down with 70% isopropyl alcohol).

You are all bad  You will be fine with the aluminum plates ... Give Richard my name and he will take 10% off of whatever you buy...

Oh yeah....didn't I warn you, this place is full of enablers. AND they are all experts at spending YOUR $$$. But, it's soooooo fun. Now, let's go look at that glass etching stuff... you need a blasting cabinet for sure...... Sue2
