Hello Just joined today. I'm Emily from South Florida. I worked at a sign shop back in high school but that was 12 years ago. Just placed my first order including my machine. Can't wait to get my hands in and start making things happen. Looking forward to sharing (well.... asking a whole lot of questions) I'm very excited that I found this forum...makes jumping in head first just a little less scary

I THINK the background color option in Inkscape is just to give contrast. It is not included if you export it as a bitmap and I don't think it is rendered when displayed if left as an svg. It is just there to help in cases such as drawing white images. It is nice to have a dark background to work against. It is also helpful if you are printing on colored paper or media. If you need the actual image to have a background just draw a rectangle the same size as your canvas. Align it to the center. Lock it in place to ease working. If you give it a fill of "none" then it gets saved as transparent if you export as a png.

I only use Oracal, Avery, General Formulations, 3M sign vinyl and Avery Chrome. I NEVER change my blade length for different vinyls..For similar vinyls, you change the cutter force, NOT the blade length... I have to change to a little higher force for Avery chrome. Similar sign vinyls, just a matter of a step up or down in force.. Blade length is always set where it is, for months and months, maybe at 6 months, when a little duller, I give it a hair more length to get more out of the blade.. I usually change blades at about 9 months.

I paid around 1400-1800 for my stone cut pro, I do not use it, it sits on the shelf. I use winpsign 2014 and Easystonetemplates macro with Corel 6 the most, Most programs have demos, try them all,,, there are a ton of programs out there,, sew what fits, you!
