You guys really helped me out. Turns out, the carriage was off track. I should've realized something was wrong when I noticed it was dragging a bit with the forward motion of the vinyl. Since I'm new, I didn't know any better. But I just wiggled it upwards and placed the wheels on the track. Now it's cutting perfect squares! Thank you all so much!

Hey it looks great and even matches the body lines and looks straight. I am continually amazed at how crooked some people get their graphics sometimes.

Did this pitcher and some glasses for a fundraiser at my wife's church, she loved it. I was pleasantly surprised that the fine details came out, previously I would blow the vinyl off, must have been using too much pressure. On a side note, I found a use for some old app tape I wasn't using (paper app tape). I used it instead of painters tape to mask off the areas I didn't want etched and it worked great; protected the glass and came off easy. I do need to get better at placing the design though, I wish I had placed the cross higher on the pitcher.

Select the object Paths>Trace Bitmap Radio button "Colors" Here's where you can play with the "Smooth", "Stack Scans" and "Remove Background" options to learn what that's all about. Click "update" to preview Click "oK" to trace Seperate the 2 images you are left with and delete the Raster {bitmap) one. You are left with the Vector image... Save to desired format. Rinse & Repeat til mastered.

I have received so much items for the business, I received 13X19 sublimation paper, mug sized sublimation paper, Unisub's dog tag jig, 4 charm bracelets, 10 sublimated license plates,CMYK bottles of sublimation ink, CMYK bottles of UV archival pigment ink, cleaning cartridges, and a bottle of cleaning fluid, that was all Friday. Now today Saturday I received my CIS parts from cobra, 2'X10' roll of Diamond Plate Vinyl, and 5 free samples of Subli-Patch. I seriously cant wait to get things rolling after Ghost Adventures.

After examining the blade holders some more here's what I figured out. The OEM hold that came with the graphtec doesn't need a spring but the aftermarket hold I got from ebay is designed different and needs a spring.

While not wishing to get into a pissing match regarding the relative benefits and considerations of mac vs.pc computers, the entire main point of this thread must be kept in perspective ---- Cutters are fairly unsophisticated devices, developed in the 1950's (by Hewlett Packard) and virtually unchanged technologically for decades. I successfully ran my sign store for years using a used $70 Dell computer. Yessir.

Your trying to run the cutter as a printer, and it is not a printer. You cannot adjust blade offset, over cut, or any other cutting features that would be in a cutting software. And I don't think there is a feature for blade offset on your cutter, the MH. I don't know anything about windows 8. I stay back on XP. and have XP back up computers. much more stable.. Can be picked up on Ebay for under $100, . You don't need a new fancy computer for vinyl cutting. You should have a computer just dedicated to cutting.

I think if you had a pc that was not connected to the net and just cut with it you would probably be fine. Personally I didn't want my design computer tied to the cutter. In your case that sounds like it will be a laptop. I am sure it can be figured out to go with a mc and if for some reason in the end it won't then your only out the cost of an old pc that won't need to be big fancy or fast, in fact I think most cutting software would prefer widows xp, I don't think that is true of flexi but I'm still checking that out. You are going to spend 95% of your time on the design side and just a few clicks to send to the cutter so I would def go the mac way for designing.

I remember when we first started, we wanted to just set up a booth somewhere and sell vinyl decals. A few years later and 95% of our work is t-shirt related. It's funny how you find your market.

I design on a mac all the time and cut on a windows 7 without any problems. Never had any file conversion issues, I have mac illustrator and a copy of cs2 illy on my windows laptop, have used Scalp on the windows and still use SignCut on it both cutting files built on the mac and directly transferred with a thumb drive between the two. I think the old days of mac incompatibility are gone as far as .ai, .pdf, .eps, etc... macs are awesome and I will never go back to pc for my main work but they are a bit more picky where drivers are concerned. BUT if you can get it to work at all it will work great. PC's are just software whores, they'll sleep with anything that comes along and that's most of the reason there are so many glitches. Does anyone even know how many pc software builders there are? Too many to count. There are like 12 for mac, LOL

yea i picked up the harbor freight air eraser it was like 23$. its a mini air brush looking thing. works great. it uses aluminum oxide I believe as a cutting or etching agent. I saw a video on YouTube where if you take apart drill out of three pickup holes that are in their, and drill them out just a little bit you can use baking soda which is a lot cheaper. This will be my project for tomorrow I will see how it works and I will post it back to let you guys know

great advice and if you are going to print it (have it printed) zoom in on it and examine it first - garbage in - garbage out

Everybody and I do mean everybody has done something that they shouldn't have at least once. However I really wish they would crack down on copyright because of the shear volume of people with cutters doing almost exclusively copyright designs and stealing away customers from the rest of us who want to make a honest living.
