first red flag is he wants to use 651 on the body panels - he should be using a cast like 751 or better to do the contoured panels.

Many good points. We were paying $1k a truck for vinyl and that's what go the wheels turning. I found a local guy who does it on the side and will do them for $500 using Oracal 651. I think this changes the equation drastically. I'm already in the office from 6am until 7pm 5 days a week and atleast 10 hours on the weekend, I don't think I need a second job. By the way, all of you who mentioned it... Stick to cutting vinyl and I'll stick to HVAC and Plumbing I guess!

Agreed, but it's for a party, not a permanent business fixture...

Some noob just opened up a vinyl shop here in town and has been plastering his business Facebook page with John Deere, Monster Energy Drink and every other popular brand logo you can think of. We actually have a major John Deere facility here in town, so he's really playing with fire. I considered being nice and warning him, but do I really want to help my competition?

Never seen any legal proof of a particular percentage. At the end of the day it's up to the judge and the jury whether you broke the law and even if you win lawyers aren't free.

Fair use is a great defense when you are in court getting sued for everything you own.

buy a graphtec ce6000-60, good app tape, oracal 751, cutting mat, squeegees and for around $2K you will be all set to do anything you need to do now and in the future. you can get going for as low as about $800 with a sc model cutter and the above supplies but think you will want the better servo machine doing a lot of trucks - read the reviews and comments in the help section of the forum - lots of happy graphtec owners out there. on the learning curve you might want to download signblazer from the support section (free) and practice with the vector graphics program to get an idea of how to use it. working with vector graphics will be different than pixel based raster pictures you have been used to. as far as if you want to get into "printing" then you are talking closer to $20K to get going - but what you have shown can be done easily with cut graphics

This forum is a community...... Most of the people here provides help and receives help. It's a give and take. Some give more then other but overall it's a well balanced community. I've never met anyone here in person but I'd do whatever I can to help them out. Now if someone only comes here for help it upsets the balance and that person it nothing more then a leech. I'm sure if you come around alittle more, join in on some off topic conversations the community will be more inclined to help you. Hope you have a great day.
