slice&dice 2,450 Posted September 24, 2015 Flagging on Craigslist is not ONLY for things specifically prohibited. People flag according to their own evaluation of the ad. Using ALL CAPS is sufficient to get flagged. Being a big jerk is sufficient to get flagged. Asking $100 more than the price at retail is sufficient, in my view, to get a flag. I doubt enough flags are accumulating on these ads, so they stay up. I did my part.
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted September 24, 2015 So you're the one flagging my escort ads. No wonder I'm not getting any calls
busterbay 326 Posted September 25, 2015 USCUTTER is now providing COREL Suite x6 for $149.Plus the MH 871 for $249. I flagged that $550 ad in LA (and I've flagged the one from the top-post, also) You are all welcome to do the same, and help the Craigslist community from having to even see such nonsense. So if we were to take this logic anywhere else you should have a problem buying any of the following: Cars Homes TV's Food Gas Air at the gas station It's called free enterprise my friend, the last I knew it was legal in America. If I can sell a widget for $5 or $20 that is my right to do so. As long as they do not monopolize a service or product and enter into price fixing they have done nothing wrong. Just my 2.5 cents
slice&dice 2,450 Posted September 25, 2015 Is it legal? Yep. Is it bulls*t? Yep. If I had a way to INFORM the readers of those craiglist ads that the pricing is exhorbitant, I would do so. Since no such option exists, the next best thing is utilize the only method the CL system offers, and attempt to have it taken off the site, thus preventing people from being abused. Nobody has the desire to police the entire site and spend hours evaluating the legitimacy of ads. That is why flagging exists, for all community members to try and keep things real. Otherwise, the site would quickly become UNUSABLE totally, and the rip-off artists and spammers would rule it. (as it is, they've managed to get a seriously strong foothold on CL) By the way, I don't purchase air at gas stations, because I know where it's FREE. Sal316 166 Posted September 27, 2015 If you want to alert others to the potential scam/ripoff/fraud/whatever, just create an ad in the same section with the title of the ad formatted like so: Ripoff Alert: 34" Vinyl Cutter - $350 Then in the body post why it is a ripoff/scam. Mention they can buy the same cutter on USCutter.com for $250, or whatever price it is.

gcextreme 475 Posted September 29, 2015 i am on 2 different local facebook sales group pages. One lady on one of them posted that she has sold her RV camper for $800 to a guy on the other page, and now 1 month later, he is trying to resell the same camper for $2,000...she put up a huge drama fit and people were going crazy. I was like, well its his camper now, he can try to sell it for as much as he wants, it doesn't matter what he bought it for, its called capitalism, to make a profit. That $1.69 bottle of pop at the gas station, the station paid $0.59 for it... i guess they are making too much of profit on that pop. If i had a friend sell me a car for $500, and i turn around and sell it for $1,500 and the new owner finds out that i only paid $500 for it, yeah he might get mad, but WHAT I PAID FOR IT, is NONE of his concern. Do you tell people what you paid for your roll of vinyl? 24"x30' roll of 651 is about $27...so lets round that to an even $30. $30 for 30' is $1 a foot. I just sold 3 decals, 8"x 22" So i used 24" of it, 2 feet, so i used $2 worth of vinyl. Sold for $25. WOW.

jaybyrd 3,770 Posted September 29, 2015 I sleep fine like that because I know my bills are paid. The people who complain the most are the ones who would bitch about working for what we make on some jobs.
