Sue2 920 Posted May 5, 2015 I have a customer wanting a monogram...for a logo. Gotta have a place to start! He has difficult initials to work with...JWK Is there a Monogram Creator site online where I can test out out some fonts & styles and have monograms created? Thanks for any help! bigmax 166 Posted May 6, 2015 Depending on what cutting sofware you are using, there is probably a "distortion" feature that could be used. There are "monogram" fonts also
security802 686 Posted May 6, 2015 http://www.markandgraham.com/resources/mark-it-guide/monogram-maker.html try this Sue2
Sue2 920 Posted May 6, 2015 Thanks...that may be a good place to let my customer look and see what type of monogram he prefers. I know already he doesn't like "curly girly" ones. Sue2
TT57 135 Posted May 6, 2015 yea, i like the MarkandGraham one also. Also check out the font= HEX monogram on dafont. That is more manly.
Cal 393 Posted May 6, 2015 I use Suitcase Fusion to categorize my fonts. It will allow you to preview what it will look like. My niece wanted me to do her initials in VantasyHouse a short while ago for her car. Cal
Sue2 920 Posted May 6, 2015 That HEX font doesn't seem to be working online or on my computer. The first and center letters are right but the right hand letter is shaped backwards. http://www.dafont.com/hex.font?text=jWk&psize=l Am I missing something? KYSIGN 233 Posted May 6, 2015 The right side letters don't have a keystroke assigned and instead use ligatures. You can manually select them from the glyph/insert character menu depending on the software you use.
Sue2 920 Posted May 6, 2015 You should be able to double click it from the Glyph / Insert Character option on your software. Ohhhhhhhh.... Thanks, that worked. That little tidbit was nowhere in the hex monogram instructions!
TT57 135 Posted May 8, 2015 sorry Sue, just seeing this. i have not used Hex yet, i have only downloaded it. Glad you got it to work and thanks for the tip KY
Go-C Graphics 856 Posted May 8, 2015 The right side letters don't have a keystroke assigned and instead use ligatures. You can manually select them from the glyph/insert character menu depending on the software you use. I have no idea what this is. Can inkscape or VM4 do this?
KYSIGN 233 Posted May 8, 2015 I don't know if Inkscape or Vm supports them. They are supposed to work in Corel Draw x6 and I know they work in Corel Draw x7 because that's what I use. Example.
Sue2 920 Posted May 8, 2015 In Corel X4 in the text drop down menu select: INSERT SYMBOL CHARACTER Another window will open Choose your font and you will see all the lettering options available for that font. Double click on the one you need to add. Sue2
Sue2 920 Posted May 8, 2015 Oh and by the way, after 6 PROOFS and many hems & haws..... This is what they ended up with...... Something they made on their own. Thank you everyone for your help!

jaybyrd 3,770 Posted May 9, 2015 I tried Sue's version for x4 (I have x3) and it doesn't show the rt. side letters. Any other suggestions?
Sue2 920 Posted May 9, 2015 I tried Sue's version for x4 (I have x3) and it doesn't show the rt. side letters. Any other suggestions? Try this....it works in X4 To find out how to get at all those graphics hidden in them (fonts). The best way to do this is with the Insert Character Docker. Note: This Docker has been known by other names in versions prior to CorelDRAW 12. Since the name of this Docker has changed a number of times and its location in the menus has also been elusive, we'll stick with a shortcut key to make it appear. Press Ctrl-F11 to bring up the Docker http://www.unleash.com/articles/specialcharacters/
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted May 9, 2015 Still no show. Wonder what's up with that
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted May 9, 2015 I've got left and center but no right
Sue2 920 Posted May 9, 2015 I've got left and center but no right Well, at least we found the "Insert Character" area! The right glyphs were at the very bottom of the docker window after all the other characters. Does it work for other fonts? Maybe the Hex font you downloaded didn't have the alternate glyphs. fustratedinhawaii 71 Posted May 9, 2015 I've got left and center but no right you must have the "trial version"
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted May 9, 2015 Got it off your link. My guess is my poor x3 isn't up to the task. Now I wonder about trying in vinyl master so it may be time to do some reading up. FH trial version is right I'm trying and my version isn't working lol
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted May 9, 2015 Update: I can access them through the computers character map and the copy and paste. What a PIA way to do it though.
skarekrow 1,842 Posted May 9, 2015 Had some success with the alternates in VinylMaster using the shift key.
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted May 9, 2015 I get the center letter with the shift key but that last letter just doesn't want to cooperate today.
