when i import an image and vectorize it, it keeps the border of the image and cuts out a square around my design, how do i get rid of this border so it only cuts out my design? please help, i’ve looked everywhere

Hi all. I imported an EPS file. However, the software is not recognizing it and the vecortize option comes up. However, when you click on the vectorize button nothing happens. When you go to cut the image it is not recognized at all. All my other EPS files are good so far (knock on wood). But this one particularly is just not cooperating. Any ideas on what I might need to change. I've even renamed the file and made a new file and still this image just is not working in MVC 4.0. I create my own images with Affinity Designer. TIA!

Hello, Is there a good software program that will vectorize images easily? I use inkscape and trace bitmap, but whether the "smooth" or "smooth corners" boxes are selected or not, the image always turns out funky.

There is a technique that I have seen in some specialty software that can vectorize an image using a single color such that is has a photo-realistic effect. This can be useful in some applications like engraving, etching, and cut vinyl. Here is an example of what I am talking about. Until recently I was just aware of commercial software able to vectorize in this manor. But today I have found ZebraTrace and have been experimenting. It is open source. It outputs SVG files that are vectors and not embedded bitmaps. It can be found at http://maxim-s-barabash.github.io/ZebraTrace/. A guy that is in the #inkscape chat room on freenode pointed it out to me. Just thought I'd let you guys know about it. It's a nice tool to have handy I think.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum but have found lots of great info from everyone. Now I need help. I have not been doing this for long and I have a friend that sent me a pdf file of a love bug and wanted me to do a board for her for a christmas gift. I have been sitting here for the last hour with two programs trying to vectorize this. I am about to pull my hair out. If someone with more experiance can help me that would be very helpful. I am trying to cut some Carolina Panthers decals on my PCUT but they get messed up when I try to vectorize them...any tips or suggestions?
