  1. While I understand that you're not trying to get this done in SBE, SBE serves as a very good way to test a multitude of cutter/plotter issues, including connectivity/communication. I know that for SignBlazer Elements, the COMPort need to be 4 or lower. I would recommend you download SBE, check Device Manager and change the COMPort that Windows has assigned if necessary, then see if you can cut/plot out of SBE. Windows 10 is notorious for automatically downloading and installing updates, which can sometimes cause issues with the cutter. You may need to go the extra step of getting a null modem cable and connecting it to your machine with a keyspan adapter.
  2. I'm debating on the Titan 2. Can this be used with Illustrator? I used to use Flexi but have been using illustrator and I am hoping to find a cutter that can be used from it. If it isn't the Titan 2 what would you recommend? Thanks
  3. When scrolling through the options using the set button on my Titan 3, I see that there is a Tool X adjustment and an Offset Y adjustment selection. What are these used for? I do all of my adjusting through SCUT Pro. Is this for making finer adjustments directly through the machine?
  4. SO I got a Titan 3 SE a few days ago and I mostly do print and cut, contour cut stuff. I have a Titan 1 that I was using for this and it was fine (using the laser to set the registration marks)... so the Titan 3 has ARMS and that was supposed to cut my workflow down a ton... so on and so forth. Well I can't get the thing the cut accurately. I'll print out let's say 100 3" x 5" rectangles, 5 to a row, 20 deep. The Titan scans the barcode, loads the job, and gets to work. The first row is cut perfectly, then the issues start at the second row. It will cut too high (towards the front) about .5mm and then goes up from every row after that. By the time it's in the middle, it's a good 2mm off. If you let it run without doing any adjustments, it will get back on track and the last couple of rows will be closer and then the last row is perfect. I try this same thing with just 50 rectangles (5 to a row, 10 deep) and it is the same outcome. Using VinylMaster and I have calibrated the ARMS offset and Laser about 100 times, it's dead on when doing the tests and/or practice cuts. The vinyl is being loaded straight (no issues with left to right). I called USCutter support and they said to make sure some options were unchecked (they weren't even on in the first place) so that wasn't the issue (for reference, they said "Tight Packing", "Force Position", and "Preserve Cutting Order" but again they were never on to begin with). Anyone have any clues as to why this is happening? At this point I'll try anything. This ARMS stuff was supposed to make my life so much easier but all it's done so far is cost me money.
  5. Long time lurker, first time poster. Purchased a Titan 3 recently, and set-up is going okay, except that the machine will not close it's cuts. If I set the 'Blade Comp' to 'Vertical', the machine struggles with closing CIRCLES. If I set the 'Blade Comp' to "Horizontal', the machine struggles with closing SQUARES, or straight lines. Circles are passable however. Using VinylMaster LTR for software. Is there a software calibration or setting I'm over-looking? Is there hardware set-up that I'm over-looking? I've been working with this machine the past couple of days, trying to figure out what it wants. I wrangled a MH721 into really good shape for the past few years, so that I felt confident (at first) that I could figure this one out too. Looks like I was wrong, please help!!
  6. I am having some problems with getting my titan 2 working. it was working fine, but now im having issues. Im running windows 7 ultimate 64bit I installed the drivers from USCutter and those installed fine to my USB008 Port In devices & printers it shows an unspecified device called SAGA Cutter Plotter I have the plotter installed in devices and printers and its pointing to the USB008 Port. I setup everything in Flexi19 and im trying to cut and its giving me an error. Ive tried changing printer cables, deleting the drivers and reinstalling them, with no change. any help would be great!
  7. Quick suggestion, try using a different software, to verify the problem is hardware-related. SignBlazer is available (use RedSail machine driver).
  8. So just recently I've been running into this problem. I have a contour cut around a object that is round and at the origin of the cut it cuts that area flat. you can see in the photos whats its doing. I do all my contour cuts in Sure Cuts A Lot Pro 5. This is what it is supposed to look like. This was the first truck i did. Any help would be great, thanks in advance!
  9. This cutter Titan 3, has True USB. It should be connected Direct USB. Titan 2 and Titan 3 both have TRUE USB. Restart your computer, after the driver downloaded. Possibly try a different cable.
  10. Anyone have experience changing a Titan 3 motherboard? My new board arrived today and it doesn't have 2 ribbon wire connectors that the old board had. 1st picture is the new replacement board. 2nd is the old board.

    Laserpoint 3 or Titan 2?

I have done plenty of research on both and I do realize that they are pretty different machines, but I am looking for some honest opinions if the LP3 is good enough or if it would be less of a headache in the end to just get the titan 2? My main concern is will I get fairly the same outcome with small or large decals as far as cut quality? The LP3 is a great price right now, pretty much half the price of the titan 2. Is it worth it? My last question- I have seen threads about the titan 2 from back in 2016. Do these cutters get updated year after year? Or is that 2016 titan 2 the same titan 2 in 2019? How often do these companies come out with updates or new cutters? thank you for any advice you can give.
  12. Hello, I was offered a used 28" Titan 2 for $500 but my friend knows nothing about it like how old it is, if software comes with it, if any blades are with it, when his uncle bought it or anything. My question for everyone is are there any issues I need to be concerned about or can I plug it in and get it running? Is this a durable machine that normal wear and tear won't affect it's reliability no matter the age? Is the machine easy to fix if there is a problem? Does USCutter still provide phone support for secondhand users? Also, I am a MAC user and plan to design in Illustrator. I have no problem buying new software if needed. I just want to know if I should be worried about a used machine and not knowing it's history. Is $500 even a good price? Sorry for all the questions but any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you
  13. I am trying to cut my design that I made. When I go to set up in signblazer. I have no idea what to click. I am clicking what I had on my old laptop. but the usb port is not coming up. I am not able to cut anything. Please if someone can help. I thought I had updated the driver but now I just feel lost.

    Signblazer 6 Full

Hey everyone, I'm new here and I've had a search but not found anything thats helped yet, sorry if I've missed something. I've just upgraded our PC (bought new) and its running windows 10. Our old PC we run Signblazer 6 on was Windows 7 and it worked perfectly with a USB key. I'm trying to get the new PC set up and working but I can't get Signblazer to recognise that the key is installed. I've got SB5 as well, I managed to get that working on an old PC by running a virtual PC with XP on it, after some messing around it worked, but the boss wants SB6 running on the new PC and I'm at a bit of a loss. Every time i start it up it just says no key and shuts down, no chance to change any settings or force anything else. The PC recognises that the USB key is inserted and it lights up as if its all good but still no luck. Its possible that someone installed another program to get it working on the original WIN-7 PC but he's no longer with the company so we're kind of stuck. I'm pretty clued up when it comes to PC's and tech, so I'm fairly certain that everything is how it should be, but maybe I'm missing a vital driver or something along those lines. What I'm asking is, does anyone know how to get this program up and running on the new PC running windows 10, preferably without running any virtual machine. Any help is very appreciated. Thank you. PS: I have the original discs for SB6 and SB5 along with the USB Keys and both work on other PC's (on WIN-7 and virtual WIN-XP)
  15. This is just me documenting my setup and how I got it installed to help anyone trying to cut with an MH Plotter and no Premium sign cutting software. Its not perfect at all and below all my specs I'll let you guys know what I need help with. This setup is Free other than getting the machine and the 9pin - usb converter cable ($15 on amazon) My Plotter: MH 871-MK2 Drivers & Guides http://www.uscuttersupport.com/downloads.html Grounding: http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/49840-best-way-to-ground-my-cutter/ Even with the grounding cable, I keep my hand on the vinyl just in case. Converter Cable: Sabrent USB 2.0 to Serial (9-Pin) DB-9 RS-232 Converter Cable, Prolific Chipset, Hexnuts, [Windows 10/8.1/8/7/VISTA/XP, Mac OS X 10.6 and Above] 10-Feet (CB-9PTF) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084RJWXMK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 Drivers - https://www.sabrent.com/download/cb-rs232-windows-drivers/ I heard that a different cable seems to work better with My Design & Cut Software Now I use Inkscape and SignBlazer. They are both free. I've used Flexi in the past and it was great but expensive and my old MH 721 plotter was having issued completing cuts with this setup. Maybe I didn't have it grounded. Inkscape - Design SignBlazer - Cutting Software - http://www.uscuttersupport.com/downloads/Software/SignBlazer/signblazer_setup.exe My Problems: The MH 871 USB port got jammed and now its loose and doesn't connect to a computer, which is why I use the 9Pin cable now. My main laptop had Vinyl Master, but it crashed on me and I was in the middle of an important job so I had to find a workaround with my Surface Pro. First, I tried cutting through InkScape but it wasnt cutting all the way through. I probably couldve kept troubleshooting with Inkscape and I'll see if I can do the same this I do now with SignBlazer in Inkscape. They way I got it working is with SignBlazer. Here are all of my settings. It took me many trial and errors to even get it to finish cutting a full graphic without the pause of death MH 871 Cutter Baud Rate: 2400 Serial cable Settings: SignBlazer Settings: With these settings it finally was able to cut all the way through without being too off track and without stopping. I also suspect static might be causing issues so I put in the grounding cable and I keep my hand on the vinyl as it cuts. It was moving slow and I don't know if it's because of the baud rate or if my plotter settings are slow. Regardless, it finished and I didn't want to try something new and have it pausing again. I'll just leave this here, for people to use and if you have ay tips for me let me know.

  17. Hi all. New to the Forum and have a question regarding the new Titan 3 28" with ARMS I just received. I have it all set up, did the bar code scan, and all the other stuff to get it up and running. The issue is after doing the scan of the "contour cut test page", when I go to cut it, the cut line is to far to the left and not contour cutting evenly all the way around the designs. Am I missing something? Setting? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  18. We just setup our Titan (1) 28 inch cutter last night. I've been doing some test runs with the pen that came with it. Now I want to move on to using an actual blade to cut some of our company logos. Nothing fancy, just single color, and not too complex. What is the recommended force and speed to run it on? We have 2 types of vinyl, Oracal 651 for car decals, and another vinyl for t-shirts, (sorry, can't recall the name off hand). Currently the cutter is set at it's default settings of 600 speed and force of 110.
  19. When I send a job from Sure Cuts A Lot 5, the cutter is apparently not receiving the job. I thought there was a USB issue, as I tried different cords with no luck. So I purchased a replacement and had my husband change out the replacement USB Connector IO Board. I put it all back together and plugged it in. I tried to send the job again, and it will still not cut. I've changed out cords multiple times also. When I turn on the machine, it starts up fine. I am using a Mac. I haven't updated the mac or software since it's worked, so that isn't the issue. Any help troubleshooting would be fantastic.
  20. You only need a driver if you're using the USB connection. That is nothing more than a cheap USB-2-serial chip in the cutter and often times doesn't work well. You're best best is to get a Tripp-Lite Keyspan USB-2-Serial adapter and a null modem cable. Connect the adapter to the USB on the computer and the null modem cable to the adapter and cutter. The MH uses the HP-GL protocol, if you set your cutting software to use that you should be able to get it to work. If you can't get something newer to work, the old SignBlazer Elements should work. You can also use Inkscape to cut with, it's not ideal, but it does work.
  21. Good morning all, newb here :) Just received my Titan 2 28" cutter, and was wondering if it's possible to cut from 8.5x11" printed vinyl? I printed with registration marks, however when trying to align for the 3rd registration mark it obviously spits the page out into the bin. I was thinking that maybe I could use a 1yd x 12in piece of vinyl and apply the pages to the vinyl with painters tape or hobby tape, and then do the registrations successfully and cut the decals out of the letter-sized inkjet vinyl? I'm attempting to contour cut 6 decals on a single sheet of letter-sized medium. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Looking forward to learning the ins and outs of your trades!
  22. Ok guys, the decal business is rocking and I think it’s already time to move up from the Laserpoint 2. My problem is that we are in a rental and I don’t have much space inside and the garage is not able to be heated as is and I’m not insulating it for the owner. I need a 15” table top for the house. I only do decals, single color, in reflective and chrome. Both are on sale right now is the upgrade to the Titan 3 worth the $150 difference? What are your guys thoughts on a refurb regular Titan at $295???

    Vevor 720

Yes, Vevor was there. honestly after playing with that 2008 laptop and trying to get it to do just anything anymore(slow)it’s not worth going back to signblazer. now that I made connection and don’t have a brick here I’m satisfied. now I just need to re learn things as well as learn this SCAL basics

    Vevor 720

You're welcome. Just to go back to the VCP thing. It's a small little driver that installs a VIRTUAL COM PORT (vcp) which will then appear in the SignBlazer CutterSetup menu, and you choose it in the list. Did SCAL actually have the Vevor listed as a cutter? Nice. SCAL is sufficient for basic hobbyist things. If you want, install a FONT (wingdings) with a bunch of Christmas-y items. 'Tis the season... https://cuttingforbusiness.com/10-free-commercial-use-christmas-dingbat-fonts/

I learned signblazer on my own about 14 years ago or so. I don’t know if SCAL is the best thing to try but I see a lot of tutorials on YouTube that will help. im still not sure what VCP means, it took two tries to find the right port on the cutter setup in the software to get it to communicate i also tried to download vinylmaster and it asks for an email, we’ll I did that and it never sent the email. I’ll start with SCAL to get back into cutting. I only using this on a hobbyist level so I don’t need anything too fancy. thanks again to all who helped
