Dawn's Design 403 Posted June 6, 2014 After today I think I'm gone tell my customers that I don't do chrome. I lettered a 18 wheeler with 2 layer black and chrome. That stuff is aggravating to work with.
BCOJdecals 39 Posted June 6, 2014 Yeah, the oracal chrome I have sucks to work with...wrinkles extremely easy and is pretty dang thin. I try to steer my customers away from it when they ask and don't even offer it on my site. F that stuff...haha
Dawn's Design 403 Posted June 7, 2014 I had to cut one door three times because I kept getting a wrinkle in it.
KYSIGN 233 Posted June 7, 2014 Did you use plastic transfer tape? I hate plastic tape. I just did 6 24in x 18in coroplast signs and decided to use up some plastic tape I had laying around. I had wrinkles galore. Paper tape all the way now.
SeeJaysPlace 476 Posted June 7, 2014 i never use my clear tape now that i have a light table.. i only used clear to layer vinyl!!!
gcextreme 475 Posted June 8, 2014 Yep I hate the chrome stuff..ive only done a few with it and it sucked. Now I just tell them I have chrome but its 4x as expensive..lol
kylesmash 36 Posted June 21, 2014 Not only is the chrome difficult to work with. It turns black after a while. I tell me customers that and they change their mind.
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted June 21, 2014 I had the coburn chrome on my boat for 4 years on the windshield and still looked great when i sold the boat last month
top53 53 Posted June 21, 2014 I have had good success with Polychrome™ Polish vinyl has high polish metal look. It has been on my truck for over 18 months with no issues looks as good today as when I put it on. Says it is durable for 5 years. You will need to use a high tack app tape. To charge 4 times for chrome or telling customers it will turn black is probably not the best business practice, it may cost you business down the line. The day he puts a chrome decal on his boat and 2. The day he takes it off.
randalle 50 Posted June 26, 2014 I did a dumptruck yesterday with chrome I bought from USC and it worked like a champ. (creative films prime)
