3bbgunns 0 Posted September 5, 2018 I bought an .eps file on etsy. I am able to download it and open it in SignBlazer but when I cut its blank... is there something free to take the place of SignBlazer I should switch too? Thanks, Brandi

slice&dice 2,450 Posted September 5, 2018 I assume that dakota opened this file in Adobe Illustrator and saved it as a legacy version (v.8 and prior)? (and provided you with that Back_saved file) SignBlazer chokes on current versions of .eps files -- the program has not been updated in many years, so it doesn't have the code to import stuff created more recently. darcshadow 1,626 Posted September 5, 2018 I was able to open the file with Inkscape, which is free. For a long time I would use Inkscape to create the design then copy and paste into SB to do the cutting. Not ideal but it worked. I eventually figured out how to cut straight from Inkscape, although it does not have any of the features that a true cutting program has it will get the job done. If I ever get serious about this hobby I might buy a true cutting program, till thing Inkscape and SB have served me well.
slice&dice 2,450 Posted September 5, 2018 To directly answer Brandi's specific question --- IrfanView is free and can be used as a 'canopener' for these types of files and then transferred into SBE.
