mabscotthandyman 1,410 Posted May 12, 2014 Regardless, if he's not breaking the law enough to cause local law enforcement to take action, what do you guys really care? The fact that it's illegal somewhere else and that you don't really like the practice has no bearing on his individual situation. Aside: The type of weapon is a red herring. The "muzzel {sic} loader" that was available at the time was the same exact state of the art weaponry that had been available to the people holding them under control. It's why militias were allowed. Since the folks in charge have the "simi [sic] auto firearms with 30 round clips" the populace should too according to the law that was created. That theroy has been challanged many times over the years. The goverments have many specialised types of wepons now including nucelar wepons should the general populace have that? There has to be some control to try and keep idiots from endangering people and even children are not safe from these people. I could care less if he puts signage on his home or builds an out house for a office I was just stating that codes and zoning are in place for a reason whether we agree with them or not.
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted May 13, 2014 Doesn't bother me either way and your concern won't be zoning it'll be the landlord because they'll contact him, not you. I won't go on a government tangent other to say that they're too big and need to be reigned in.
Go-C Graphics 856 Posted May 14, 2014 Not every city has zoning. My sister was just telling me how Houston TX doesn't have any zoning. You can have businesses mixed in with residential.
slice&dice 2,451 Posted May 14, 2014 Houston is actually unique. In fact, it's the only major U.S. city with no formal zoning code. http://www.businessweek.com/the_thread/hotproperty/archives/2007/10/how_houston_gets_along_without_zoning.html Pretty much any residential area in Houston is covered by CC&R's

towman208 38 Posted May 17, 2014 come on people, why does this or other post have to go from show your work to a mad dash of rules this and codes this. even though he lives in a rental house, he has the right to do what he wants to. if he gets fines or kicked out that is his business. not ours. he posted it to show his work not to get beat down on laws. it would been totally different if he had posted wanting to know if codes would fine him. like it or not he didn't post looking for that advice.
