  1. Hey y'all, It's Sarah again. Right now I'm cutting with the MH871-MK2, and it's done well for what I was doing. Now I'm getting into contour cutting (I have a designjet z6100 for printing) and need something with laser/optic eye for contouring... I found a greeeat deal for a USC LaserPoint2 that somes WITH VinylMaster.. It's 379.00. Now, I have a huge order coming due where I'm going to need contour cutting in small letters. Will that machine work and work well? I want to get a Graphtec, but until I get this order DONE, the money isn't available... so should I go for the good deal and get the LP2? I've read a little about the Titan 2 and 3 and honestly wasn't impressed... Also, is the LP2 stepper or servo?? Thanks! Sarah

    what to do??

Dakotagrafx, you are the guru of all things cut and print. I may go Titan3, then, as it's the automatic and not too pricey right now. Thank you, both of you for everything, it definitely gave me some insight on what to look for for the jobs I'm doing. And if I can get away with it, I will DEFINITELY put a shape around the letters. Thank you again, so much!!

    what to do??

lmao, okay, crying here! Poor little armless vinyl cutting machines.. they'll never make it in today's world!!! *still snickering, ignoring people looking at me in my shop, thinking I've lost my mind* So... I thought the laser, optic eye, arms things all worked the same, just maybe not as detailed??

    what to do??

((((Laughing my butt off right now because andygeekboy says a machine doesn't have arms... bahahahahah Duhhhhhh!!)))

    what to do??

Okieday, sooo... The Titan 2 has what for contouring? The 3 has arms, and LP2 has laser and the Titan 2 has??
  6. icmomoney

    what to do??

well, crud... You don't think the LP2 will work?

    what to do??

I have a solvent printer as well, that I can use if need be for the super small stuff. Do you think I should ante up and get the Titan2 or just buy the LP2(since it's on sale) and save money for the Graphtec I want?? And I know the LP2 has to use the registration marks, but does the Titan? Or does it have auto and manual contouring?

    what to do??

USC has a new SC series, also... anyone know anything about these?

    what to do??

Just found out it's stepper... I understand that servo is better for super small details (such as small lettering)?

    Need help...

Hey y'all, My name is Sarah, and I've been cutting with the MH871-MK2 for about 1.5 years now. I love it, I really do, and it's done awesome work for me. I do vinyl decals, etc., for business and personal use, and it's never let me down once I figured it out! Until recently... I added heat transfer vinyl to my business for t-shirts and things of that ilk. I did a couple large designs, and my cutter did as expected, but when I try to do smaller things, especially letters, it literally chews them up. Edges don't meet, shapes are skewed, and the letters end up looking terrible. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm using Jet Pro Soft Stretch, so I know the vinyl is not a poor or low quality... And I've tried every combination of force, overcut, velocity, everything that I can think of. I would really appreciate ANY help at all, and suggestions, anything!! I'm at a loss for what to do... Thanks in advance, Sarah

That really didn't make any sense... When I roll them with my fingers, they rotate, but they do not move other than that

They roll easily by hand, but the roller itself doesn't actually move

No, mine just just has the single holder spot. Lol, I really wish it was that though! @Dakotagrafx Where are the screws located, do you know?? I see what looks like allenheads on the actual bar itself, is that what you're referring to?

Oh, okay, I know what you're talking about now. This is why I'm so irritated, it seems to work perfectly in some areas, and then go crazy on others! I'm not the original owner, I actually bought it used on a whim a couple years ago, and now use it daily. I check those screws, though, and see if that could be it. Thank you again

I don't know what a knurled roller is... is that what holds the vinyl in place? I checked the blade holder, couldn't find any cracks there. And yes, it does fine on regular vinyl, but the HTV it just seems to go wonky. I've tried lessening the pressure ( recommended by HTV site was 50g, but no.. Definitely not) and then it just skips across the vinyl, making what looks like dotted lines. I just bought new blades and installed. Adding a pic to show you guys results.

Okay, so... I changed the overcut, I got the test printing correctly.. and still no good on the letters. On the skinny parts of the letters, especially the letter "D", it cuts the top and bottom lines into nothing...so it looks like a "l" and a backwards C... I don't know what to do, I want to hit things. Grrr.

So sorry, totally wrong vinyl mentioned there... brain frustration fart. Using Fibron heat transefer. I am making my text, not tracing it, check.. When I do my test cut on regular vinyl, it's meeting up correctly. When I do it on the Fibron, the very last edge of the design does not meet, and the edges are almost rounded (test cut is a star), so that sounds like need to add overcut??. I didn't know there was a credit card thing, lol, so haven't done that, always just keep it so the blade edge is just visible.. thaaaaaank you so much, I've been so frustrated and just venting helps

    Layering 4 layers and bubbles

Any time I do a multi-layer design, I apply with soap and water and squeegee out... My husband does window tint, and that's the big "secret" to getting no bubbles in that. When I applied it to my vinyl designs, especially the layered ones, it makes a huge difference

Strange Diagonal Cut, not shown on preview

Check that the baud rate on your machine is set the same in your computer settings... mine did this, too, a single line diagonally across a part of the design.. Baud was set different! Hope you figure it out!
