    Pot Call Anyone

That is very cool work, for sure. Could you make a mold with a 3D printer? Is the mold a special type of material, or simply a form that has a release agent applied before pouring in the liquid - like spraying a cake pan with Pam? Cal

    Pot Call Anyone

That is very cool. My son & I were into turning pens and such several years back. It was fun, but we only needed so many pens! Cal

    A day in the park

Spent a couple days last week cleaning up and detailing my Duster. After 5 years on the road and several road trips it don't show like it used to. I still do a couple shows each year to support good causes and visit with old friends and make new one's in the old car community. Yesterday was a show in the pecan orchard at the local park in support of our local volunteer fire department. It was a "relatively" cooler (upper 80's) day, sunny with a light breeze. Pretty comfortable in the shade of those big trees. A bad place to be if a rain or windstorm blows up - you would have seen 100 cars scrambling for open ground - but yesterday was mild and beautiful. There was probably 100 cars in attendance, with the vast majority spotless specimens from years past. Some few newer models; and a few, like mine, showing a little wear on the edges - paint chips here & there, stone chip in the windshield and a little staining on the intake manifold... Trophy time came and the top 20 came and went, chief's pick, mayor's pick... and then - by unanimous vote... kids choice - Cal Hyer's '72 Plymouth Duster!!! I was very pleasantly surprised! But in retrospect, kids always seem drawn to it at all the shows I have attended. And my wife said, the kids do not go in with the preconceived notion that it has to be a Mustang, or Chevelle, or big block - they are just drawn to it because it is so bright and bold looking. It is bright - rustoleum gloss white and gloss black topped off with a clear coat... To make it somewhat vinyl related, I purchased the stripes (before I got into vinyl) from an ebay store. I will guess that they are Oracal 651 or equivalent. I know we did a wet install and did some serious lifting and repositioning them. We installed after the paint was applied and then cleared over the whole shebang. With my neighbors, I am on the right, and then a couple three pics from my travels. Last year I drove from Georgia to Toronto! Cal

    Yeti style mugs

Been gone all week... I have used the Rub n Buff on some glassware. Looked good when done, but faded quite a bit after some few washings. Joker, what did you use to get such vibrant colors? Cal

    Yeti style mugs

Yes, in retrospect I would make a couple changes & additions. with the time I had, I felt lucky to get them done. They were delivered today and the folks said they were thrilled with them. cal

  17. Stop wasting vinyl. Did your cutter not come with a pen? Use the pen and draw this stuff out until you have it all sorted out. Cal

Wow, that stuff is all so darn cool, Cal
  23. Welcome aboard Bethann. It looks like settings to me, but we need a bit more info. 1. What blade are you using, 45* or 60*? 2. How old is it, and what have you been cutting with it? 3. What material is the graphic shown made of? As for what you have pictured, it looks like offset &/or overcut could be tweaked a bit. Do a search of those terms and you will find the correct way to assess and fine tune those settings. Cal

    update on things

Like Buster, I did 17 foot pinstripes for my truck on a 3 foot table. I would not want to do it every day but I did get it done. You did not say what kind of space you had. Enough room for a larger work &/or light table? I would love those, but simply cannot claim the dining room or living room as "mine" and replace the furniture that is already there! From time to time I do cop the dr table to work on several projects. In your case, a couple suggestions for you: 1. What type of work do you want to do? Large signage or vehicle graphics needs more space than smaller signs, etc. 2. How about a removable top to overlay the dining room table? It could be a fair bit larger and overhang the edges, and removed and stored when not in use. My dr table is not smooth enough to really do good work on. I use one of those cutting mat type things about 2' x 3' on it and it really took my work up a step or two. 3. I have not gotten a light table yet, but I do have plans in my head for a smaller "light box" that I want to do "one day"... Cal
