    LaserPoint USB port

Lueman, I was considering having someone look at my cutter to try and track down the issue but it would probably end up costing me a pretty penny. I think some of the parts for the LP are still available, off the top of your head do you have any idea what might be shorted out on our cutters?

    LaserPoint USB port

Yeah I don't think that it is Sign Blazer either, I was just mentioning how when I said the name SignBlazer when asking for support I became a red headed step child. I will most likely pick up an adapter because my desktop is a dinosaur of a computer.

    LaserPoint USB port

P.S. I requested assistance through UScutter and was told they no longer support Signblazer and I need to purchase Sure Cuts Alot. I wish I had a different program to test and see if Signblazer was the issue or not.

    LaserPoint USB port

here are screen shot of the sing blazer ports. I am no longer at the my office and since there is no USB devices plugged in to my laptop no ports show up in device manager. I did the same thing! when the USB port broke I switched to the serial port which worked great. Now the problem is I do not have a serial port on my laptop that I am now using for vinyl. Like you were saying my computer does not beep when the cutter is plugged into it but it does recognize it in Sign Blazer and device manager. I did try it on an old desktop I took to my office today to test it. When I plug it in to the desktop, the USB does make the connection sound but the same issue with no cutting. I did get it to work through the serial cable though.

    LaserPoint USB port

ok, yes Mz Skeeter I went through all the steps a few times for the setup. I have triple checked the settings and even tried different com port numbers and different usb ports. Lueman, I did not solder this. I bought a replacement from a forum member. thanks for the tip, this is what I got from it. Under ports (COM &LPT) there is = USB Serial Port (COM8) The wieird thing is that if the cutter is on and connected it shows up under cutter setup in Sign Blazer as = Blazer.COM8: - USB Serial Port It just won't cut! In sign blazer it shows the cut progress as if the cutter was working and does not show any communication errors.

    LaserPoint USB port

Got the replacement USB port in the mail today (thanks mb20music) but I can't get the computer to recognize the cutter. I installed the drivers, and it's assigned to com 8 but nothing happens when I press cut in signblazer. I don't have a serial port on the computer I am using for my vinyl, FRUSTRATED!

    I LIKE this Place!!!

I agree, so far my experiences on this forum have been great and very helpful. It makes me want to share everything I have learned with others and keep the vibe going.

    Racing Stripes

The guys with more experience can chime in here but I was unsuccessful in my attempt on my friends mustang. I believe it was mostly due to the weather when I tried to apply the stirpes. I told him to come by around 8:00 am but of course he came much later in the day when it was hot. I gave it a try but the app fluid dried in seconds and the vinyl kept sticking before it was properly placed. Just keep that in mind since it's warming up.

    Windshield banners

JUst realized I don't know if we are we talking about windshields or back windows here? That graphic just looks a little tall for a windshield.

Senario for "The Professionals" or Anyone

I don't have a font that matches that, some are close but nothing with that S.

    Who offers a cleaning solution?

I didn't mean to sound negative, if I did. I love the idea of upselling especially if it is a benefit to the final product. I am not sure what type of cleaner would be best though and you would have to source some containers to ship it in.

    JPSS and 3G Opaque HELP!!!

Any tips for me on the bottom and sides of the Patrick Swayze picture on my shirt? I really don't like the straight edges. I think the edges around the hair came out good but I don't know what to do about the other areas.
  13. It's too big for me and my 35" cutter. I'm sure there is someone on the forum that can though.

    JPSS and 3G Opaque HELP!!!

I see, I have only tried the dark stuff twice because I am kinda at a loss as to how to get it to look decent. All the JPSS shirts I have done look homemade as well. I'll give the background color match a try but I don't know if I will have much luck doing that on a heather color.

    Who offers a cleaning solution?

Have you seen other companies offering this? I have had a few people mention that the vinyl didn't want to stick to the wall but never had any that didn't work. I always tell customers to wipe the area with a cloth or paper towel to remove dust.

Ever have one of those days?

WOW, sorry man. I have gotten into winning streaks just like that. Best thing you can do sometimes is just take a step back and do something else for a few minutes. I had the same idea as Kissfan76, a carrier sheet or that cutting mat. I know they are used for other applications in the cutting world but not sure what.

    LaserPoint USB port

Well I understand now. I see that the other thread on this forum bought a replacement part and soldered it himself. I am thinking about giving it a try, I just bought a soldering gun because I do a lot of phone and ipod repairs and have always been limited to component replacement only since I don't solder. Hate to test my skill on my cutter though , ha ha. I'll pm billybow and mb20music and see if those options would be easier.

Pricing help on large wood sign please

Yeah I figured, the city I live in is really strict on signs, banners, and balloons. You need a permit to do anything and the city only gives them out for special occasions. I put my bid in for the sign so now it's time to wait. I did bump up my price to $650 thanks to your recommendation. I threw in the installations though because this is being subbed to me from my new business friend. Thanks for the input guys, it is a huge help.

    I had to share ...

WOW! The best part is that you were able to save the banner. Whenever I am working on a big project I get increasingly nervous as I go.

Pricing help on large wood sign please

Yikes, I was a bit off then. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. The office I am moving into is shared with a graphic design artist and he is subbing the sign out to me. He will be printing out a large format print to go on the face of the sign. Any idea how to install a print like that onto the wood?

Do I need a contractors license?

Yeah, thats what I figured. I don't want to install the whole box signs just remove the plexy insert and redo it. I did just get a request for a large wood sign that needs to be installed though. I am going to find a contractor to sub out the install but I posted a thread asking for pricing help on the sign construction.

    Web design tool

Good news! There is a open source software package (free) available called Open Shirt and another called Open Cart. The have a website and forum all about the software. They need to be installed on a web host that allows you to control certain things though. Arvixe.com is a host that does the installation for you and for free. They have a bunch of ecomerce stuff available. Google the software to see website examples it looks great.

Do I need a contractors license?

Great, thanks guys. I figured that I did not need it but after reading the wording on my local government site I got a little worried. I am not going to install any electrical or fixed exterior signs. The only grey area would be a real estate sign on a post or pole that in put in front of a house. Around here they use 4 x 4 posts and around 5' tall.
