SC Cutter Stopped in Middle of Cut, No Communication, USB or Motherboard Issue?
xpaperman replied to Lovely Littles's topic in SC Series Vinyl Cutter Discussions
You said you are using USB.... do you also have a Tripp Lite keyspan adapter hooked up to it? -
Howdy,
Dakota sent me your way. I have a situation I need a little help with. I am doing a 4 foot by 5 foot sign for a store front (on metal). The customers logo has a couple colors we cant match with orocal. I was thinking maybe we could just print the whole thing and just apply it to the metal like a large decal. Is that something doable that you could help with? Worst cas scenario we could print the smaller area where the colors are (its flower petals) and just layer it on to the sign where it goes.
If your interested or can do this let me know and I will get you all the info and we can check pricing and see if we want to go this route.
Thanks
Brian

I started with the SC as well. I then added a graphtec and a titan 2. The SC was a great price for me to cut my teeth. I did have to spend time with that learning curve to get the most out of the SC and get it dialed in. Once I did it was great. (especially for the price) I then (from reading these forums) learned about the servo motor machines and heard how great graphtec was. I found a good deal on craigs list for a non working graphtec at a great price. I am kind of handy so took a chance. With help from the forum I was able to get it up and running at no additional cost! Bonus! the difference is huge! I then added a Titan, it to has the servo motor but is a lot cheaper than a graphtec. Although the Titan is nice (because of the servo motor) I went back to the graphtec. It is just that much better! I recently parted was with my old trusty SC that started it all but still have the graphtec which gets most of the work but I also still have the Titan. I use it more for thicker items like glitter so I don't have to keep changing settings on one machine.

When I started, I wanted to do mostly signs and banners. I live in a small town and that didn't really take off for me. I then found out I was a heat press away from being able to do shirts. I have always wanted to be able to do shirts for myself so I bought a heat press (and some heat transfer vinyl) and started making myself shirts. Once the word got out..... I almost don't get any sleep any more. People love custom shirts. That being said, it also got my name out there and now I am doing sublimation, banners, signs, decals, etching etc....... I guess in short, adding shirts is what did it for me.

I stayed away from that laser for fear of just that. Hate to hear you had to go through all that. The ones I have been looking at that look like the right way to go are so expensive. I don't feel like I would make my money back in the end. At least not fast enough for me. I guess I will keep doing them by hand.

What Laser do you have?

I do orders like this all the time! The trick is to cut your stencils! Then you just blast them. You don't engrave each individual letter! Then, dust off and rub and buff, let set for a few minutes, peel off stencil rinse and dry! When done in larger quantities it actually goes pretty smooth!

conde told me to estimate 1 dollar for ink and paper on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet. Not sure if its accurate or not but I have been going with that.
-
on the silver ones you can use rub and buff black to make the etching Pop!

I use Conde'. The shipping is high per case because of the weight. However if your willing to buy in the neighborhood of 7 cases you get a discount on shipping via UPS. That is what I did on my last order and shipping (per case) went down over half!

I am using exclusively RTIC. You can get decent pricing buying by the case now!

Same here... I did a $*@% ton of them for last Christmas. I already have several dozen now to do for Christmas already. I might have to quit after this Christmas..... so burned out on them.

Copyright issues with this?
xpaperman replied to splash0321's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Maybe cut each word separate. Don't use the "Ford" Font..... Let him install? Might be a workaround. I have no idea but I know some folks on here know a lot about copyright. They will be along shortly. -
HEAT PRESS TEMP HELP. (I HAVE THE RED US CUTTER CLAMSHELL MODEL HP 3802)
xpaperman replied to cloading's topic in Clamshell Heat Press Discussion or Support
What is the issue? Is the vinyl not sticking? I used to have that same press and never had problems. I set mine at 290 and did a quick press for about 5 seconds, them removed backing sheet then repressed with teflon sheet for about 12 seconds. I see your new, so let me ask this just to rule it out. Are you using "Heat Transfer Vinyl"? If so, what brand? -
Mark, thanks for the info on how to do it. I will give that a try so I can do it myself in the future! skarekrow, thanks for taking the time to just do it. Both of you have been most helpful!!

Right! Also, my customers know I work from home so they assume I am available 24/7. I get emails, phone calls and texts at times your like WTF? After midnight, weekends, 4 in the morning.... it's crazy. Now, I have been known to work those weird hours..... but they don't know that.

Yes, just get the Seiser and be done with it. Your really not gonna make mistakes like you think. As long as you follow the simple directions on application. The right temp (they say 305, I use 290) the right pressure and time. Time is flexible some, if you go a few seconds long, no biggie. The only place yo can possibly make mistakes really is in your own design work, spelling error etc. Don't start with junk or you'll have a lot of junk left over you can't/won't use.

Howdy from Texas. Welcome to the forum. I have Scal, got it when it first came out, used it twice and hated it and haven't touched it since..... so, I can't help with your question but I know there are several folks here that use it and should be along soon to help you out!
