I see you are working in Photoshop. If you have access might consider Illustrator as it is a vector based program natively. If you hold down the text button it should open up with vertical text and a few other options (at least it will in AI not sure for PS)

If you are wanting to do Text on a Path in Photoshop, it's simple...

With pen tool selected for paths (not shape layers) draw your path.
Unlike Illustrator, there's not "type on a path" tool. Just use the regular,
Horizonal type tool. Hover the tool over the path and the cursor changes.
Click once when it changes and just start typing your text.

Use the path selection tool (arrow below text tool) to manipulate the type on the path after that.

Or are you trying to achieve this in Scalp?

I can't be of any help there.

I didn't read the OP comments as close I should have. Thought he knew how to do type on a path but not vertical.

Skarekrow, You are a PS guru kinda guy. I have never used it in conjunction with Illustrator. Couldn't afford the whole suite nor justify the expense even if I had it. When working with text in PS and then bringing it over to AI do you leave it live text or trace it convert it or what?

Really depends on the situation, what I'm trying to achieve or create.

Generally speaking I try to leave my options open as long as I can.

If that entails leaving the text live, then I do so, but invariably you hit the raster wall.

Many effects and manipulations can only be achieved with rasterized text.

I often make a copy of the text I'm working with and leave the original live and rasterize the copy.
