Dawn's Design 403 Posted January 2, 2014 The sheriff in my county has come to me to make him some signs. He wants 12"x18" and 18"x24" that I can use coroplast for. The thing I need to know is what is the best thing to use for a 4'x8' sign? Will the coroplast hold up for about 6 months that big or do I need to use something different ? I need to get by as cheap as I can ( but without looking cheap ) there is a fine line. Thanks in advance .
OWJones 1,981 Posted January 2, 2014 Indoor use or outdoor use? How will they be displayed (on a chain link fence, on posts, on a wall, etc)? Typical weather conditions for where they'll be displayed (if outdoors)?
Dawn's Design 403 Posted January 2, 2014 It will be out doors. I'm thinking he will probably use 2x4s to build a frame and fasten it to post. Another question on something that big I need to charge by the sq ft right?
slice&dice 2,451 Posted January 2, 2014 If attached to a flat surface, coroplast is fine. Not so much as a post & panel sign. Use Alumacor.
Dawn's Design 403 Posted January 2, 2014 Ok thanks slice&dice . Can I get Alumacor from US Cutter ?
Dawn's Design 403 Posted January 2, 2014 Found it at grimco. Big difference in price.
Jay2703 704 Posted January 2, 2014 You could attach 1/2 or 3/4 plywood to the wood posts and attach the coroplast to that. It may be cheaper than Alumacor if it's only for 6 months.
Dawn's Design 403 Posted January 2, 2014 Ok Jay that sound good. The election will be in November so I'm guessing about 6 months . He hasn't told me a date when he wants them yet.
Dawn's Design 403 Posted January 2, 2014 Do you think something like this would hold up to the weather ( wind, rain, ect.............)?
smokeybearfan 87 Posted January 2, 2014 I use FRP[ (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) I just bought a 4x8 panel today at the local building supply house. Costs about 38 bucks a sheet. It holds up great outside.
Dawn's Design 403 Posted January 2, 2014 I might check on that also. Thanks for the info.
Jay2703 704 Posted January 2, 2014 For campaign signs in our area they set 3 T-Posts and attach 4 x 8 coroplast with zip ties. It lasts long enough for the election.

2CT Media 25 Posted January 17, 2014 I would use A minimum of 6 mm coroplast Or Better Yet ACP. I pay $28 for 4x8 of 6 mm coro or $32 for 48 ACP.
