Also found one in SignBlazer that is pretty close but still not quite right.

Ok, I downloaded your PDF and opened it with Inkscape and it is an actual vector file although it's all grouped. If look at it wireframe mode there is a green box around it, not exactly sure what that is. But if you ungroup it 4 times you'll get down to individual objects and the green box will disappear. At this point you should be able to save the file as a vector file of your choice, EPS would be the common one, and then import it into your cutting program. 1st floor.eps

New question, why are you trying to do this on the cutter? Do you just need it on paper bigger than normal printer paper? As Dakota said, if you can get access to the original file that would be the ideal way to go. Second option would be to manually trace/redraw it using your design program of choice, 3rd would be an auto trace but an auto trace is going to trace both sides of the line, which would be ok for cutting, as it'd cut all the lines, but for plotting it'll basically be drawing each line twice and the numbers/letters will probably not turn out well at all.

Found a post from 2011 where someone got theirs to work using a Belkin F2A036-06 Bi_Directional Printer Cable. -
My Vinyl Master Files Won't Display As A Thumbnail??
darcshadow replied to storm2313's topic in VinylMaster CUT, LTR, PRO & DSR
What exactly do you mean by backed up and reloaded? What was your process for doing that? -
And just a point of clarification, die cutting is done with custom made dies which are stamped onto the media and cut it, kind of like a cookie cutter cutting through dough.
-
That's pretty small text and even with everything set perfect your cutter may still have a hard time. Just so you know. Getting the blade depth correctly will go a long way though to getting the cut to come out clean.

Vinyl Express JII-61 Plotter cutter
darcshadow replied to DeadEnd Graphix's topic in Competitor Cutter Help
As Skeeter said, all you need is cutting software that can talk to the plotter. If it has a basic serial port then there is a good chance it uses the standard HPGL protocols and most any cutting software can talk to it through the serial port. -

What OS are you running? Did an update happen? Have you tried a different program. SignBlazer is free, others have free trials. -
Far as I know there's no manual for taking it apart like you're talking. I'm out of ideas at this point. Sorry and good luck.

I just advance the vinyl a bit and use a pair of scissors. -

It's not that your pressure is too low, it's that the holder is not dropping like it should. When the cutter is off the holder should drop and be resting on the cutting strip. Something is causing it to sit too high. In that photo it also looks like the belt is not parallel to the surface, like the carriage is sitting too high.

Problema con UsCutter MH721-MK2
darcshadow replied to Bonavich's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
If the cables are making a good connection then basically there are 3 suspects. 1. The cable is damaged 2. The LCD itself is bad 3. The mother board is bad My guess would be the LCD and you'll have to replace it to know for sure. -
In that last photo, is the cutter turned on? Ok, I think I missed that the problem started, you replaced the carriage head and it didn't solve the problem? So I think we're looking in the wrong location. The problem just about has to be the rails the head is riding on.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you need to save the PDF as a PNG first, you should be able to just trace the PDF file. You may need to ungroup it first.
-
Yes, that makes perfect sense. It is tracing what it sees. It sees a line it traces the line. For example if you draw a circle with a pencil and trace that you will get two circles so that the end result looks just like what you drew. If you want just a single circle it will need to be a solid color, so you would draw the circle with your pencil then color it in solid.

I don't know SCALP, but I would assume it has a wire frame mode. Google it, or someone on here that uses it can tell you. Adobe PDF reader does not have it. I suggested downloading Inkscape. From the above comments sounds like your version of SCALP can not vectorize images and it sounds like that is what you are needing. Inkscape is pretty good at vectoring and it is free.

I took the cover off my carriage and don't see any thing obvious that could fail and cause the blade holder not to drop all the way. If you're sure the carriage is on the rail correctly I would take the cover off and see what you see. There could be something causing the arm not to move freely like it should. For reference here is a photo of mine with the cover removed. Also, fyi, with the blade holder out, there is even more travel in the arm and it can go lower.
-
Be sure to save as the older EPS version. You can also just cut and paste from Inkscape into SB. However, when you do this, for some reason it doesn't paste at the right size. Not a big deal to resize it, just something to be aware of.
-
Another question, with the cutter turned off, if you put a bit of weight/pressure on the arm can you get the blade holder to touch the cutting strip? the 5 years you've used it, have you always had to have the blade sticking out so far, or is this a new development?
-
Thanks, yeah, missed that one. So then the question is, did something happen/change before it stopped working?
-
Is the carriage head seated on the rail correctly? Clearly there's a position problem as the blade holder should be touching the cutting strip when the cutter is turned off. I'm not near my cutter right now but when i get a chance I'll look at mine closer and see if I can see anything that you could adjust or account for the extra height you're seeing. Again though, has this cutter ever worked for you? Or is this a new problem?
-
Take the blade out and turn the machine off and post a photo of the holder. When off it should drop and sit on the cutting strip.

You have to work in vector formats. jpg and png are raster images and can not be cut directly. If you're version of Sign Master doesn't have the ability you will need a program that does, Inkscape is a really good free program.
