mrfibble 77 Posted July 27, 2015 When i type something to be cut the letters are all individual so on script type fonts there is overlap bettween letters and as such cut marks is there a way to join then together to clean up the cutting ? if I use select it selects each letter 1 at a time I cant select the nodes on two letters together ......... I use scal (regular) and very little inkscape any help anyone ? Cheers David C

pshawny 410 Posted July 27, 2015 Try... Path > Union or Path > Combine I'm not familiar with Inkscape. They seem to both do the same thing, but I'm sure there is a difference.
skarekrow 1,842 Posted July 27, 2015 Yes, Select the objects you want to join, Path > Union. (or ShiftControl +)
mrfibble 77 Posted July 27, 2015 I cant find a way of getting the nodes on two items to display at the same time example I write a A and a B AB in script and they overlap I want them to be one item but I cant join the nodes if its only letting me alter either the A or the B not both together .......... make sence ? rpmrpm 32 Posted July 27, 2015 You need to draw a selection box around all objects or letters you want joined then (as stated above) Path>Union.
skarekrow 1,842 Posted July 27, 2015 The text may still be 'Strokes' and not 'Paths/ Curves' Select the text then Path>Stroke to Path then click off the text (the text is no longer strokes but converted to paths/curves) now click on the text and Path>Union. If the individual characters are not grouped together, you may have to shift-select 2 at a time.

skarekrow 1,842 Posted July 28, 2015 Kunstler Script.... Fancy and Skinny. Weeding could be tricky unless very large.
darcshadow 1,626 Posted July 28, 2015 Type the text out, then select it and then from the menu select Path->Object to Path. Your text will now be a group of individual letter. Ungroup by hitting ctrl+shift+G or select Ungroup from the Object menu, then Union them by hitting ctrl++ or selecting Union from the Path menu. The reason for ungrouping the text after converting it to a path, is for some reason Inkscape will not let you do a Union on a objects that have been grouped.
