Business Cards..Not sure this is an appropriate question

Recommended Posts

OK Folks

It's gotten to the point where I need to get some Business Cards.  Thinking vista print but am open to suggestions

Here is the question I hope is not inappropriate to ask.  What do you all put on your Business Cards and where.  I was thinking 2 sides.  One side having all the contact info the other side the things I do.

I'd love to see some examples if I could.  Dye Sublimation...hmmmm how do I word that for a layman  :)

The things I'm doing now are Signs, banners Vinyl lettering and decals Dye Sublimation on shirts and blanks and I'm sure plenty of things I've not even tried yet or know about...hehehehehe.  I also struggle with things I've done but are off the wall....Drum head Logos with Cut Vinyl etc.

I'm all ears for help on my first set of Business cards ever.  I don't mind spending a bit on some pop or whatever it takes.  I have a Logo for myself but not sure on the best way to use it for cards.

Look forward to any advice you all can give.

Thanks a bunch

Joe

Sue's good people. Vista is just another conglomerate trying to swallow up our little shops. As for dye sub photo imprintables is what I've settled on after long debates.

You don't have to come up with the layout....

I can do that.

But it is nice to see what others have done.

I use the phrase "photo imprinted gifts" - they don't care about the process, just the end result.

While we are on the subject, I would like to make a few

comments/suggestions on business cards.

Your business card is one of the first points of contact you have with

your potential customer.  They may have seen your work on signs, vehicles,

shirts etc. but your business card itself is in their hand and represents

YOU and your company.

It should reflect good taste, quality and balance.

Make it impressive.

We have all seen the kits or online do-it-yourself posters/banners/yard signs.

You can tell at a glance they were not designed by an experienced pro.

Most are thrown together with either too much on them, too close to the edges,

or a bazillion different fonts......some of which are difficult to read.

  Just because you CAN make it yourself doesn’t mean you should.

Business cards are the same.  They are mini billboards representing your business.

Many I see are crowded, type close to the edges, too many fonts, type too

small or too large, on cheap paper, or have “V-Print” advertising all over the backside.

Cheap is just that, CHEAP!

Spend the extra dollars to make your card stand out....make them memorable....

You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression.

Just MY two cents.

Good question Jay, I would also like to know that Sue. I get an occasional request for business cards from clients. I have set up the premium member discount (or whatever they call it) from Vista which lets me get them their cards slightly cheaper than they could get it themselves and I still can make a little profit on the top. Do you offer wholesale pricing? If so PM me some pricing and I'll gladly send some work your way I would much rather give business to my online friends than the big corporate at Vista.

Jay & WG

Thank you for the confidence...I didn't make those comments to drum up business...

I just wanted you all to realize that your business card is representing

your company...it's not just a piece of paper with a phone # slapped on it.

As much as I would like to help you out, I am retail just like you.

I cannot offer $9.95 business cards and have $ left over to pay the rent.....

Yes, we print many cards/forms/letterhead etc. right here......

for some jobs we use trusted trade vendors to produce.

But, you need a resale license to use these vendors....

they are wholesale only.

We don't make the raised print type cards here or many of

the full color glossy.  The equipment needed to produce those

cards is expensive and should be run continually to be profitable.

I would not recommend V-Print to anyone.....they are not

really interested in quality production.

They work on a big scale and print as much as possible as

fast as possible.

I've been printing mine on some 80lb Pearl Metallic photo paper, I got a while back. Not as heavy as regular biz card stock, but sure makes a nice print.

So Sue sent me the first draft of my soon to be cards.  Gotta say, I'm impressed.  And I'm very happy with the price too.  She took my info...Did a layout...SEVERAL LAYOUTS...Yea, I'm a happy camper.

I hope to have the other info she needs by Monday and then it's a done deal.

I'm extremely Happy!!

I just did 350 of the metal sublimation business cards last week and they were incredible. Has a sparkle in the finish that really pops in the light.

Conde sent me a "already Done" business card and I have to say that sucker pops!!  I might make a few for maybe special clients or soon to be clients.  I think the corners need to be broken down a bit they are pretty sharp.

But the cards themselves are awesome.  I wonder if Sue will see me the Orig design too  ;)  I will say the way they look now they would look incredible on Metal Sublimation cards

Conde has stuff nobody else has but other than that I avoid them like the plague mainly because of condes insane shipping fees. Always check uscutter, coastal business, bestblanks, paramount (dye-sublimation-products.com) and LRI.
