  1. Regarding your transfer speed. 1Kb/s is what you would expect with a 9600 baud setting. 9600 baud is about 960 bytes per second which is about one Kb/s.

    MH cutter wont cut

What software are you using, and have you tried a different program?

    651 for painted sheetrock walls?

I put up some 631 waves on a textured wall with no problems and pealed them off easily a few years later. Although I could see how a skinny design might have trouble sticking to a textured wall. Surface area plays a really big role in how well something sticks and how easy it is to remove.

    Cutting with CE 6000 plus

I suspect you still have too much blade exposure. The circles that cut all the way through are most likely a combination of too much blade and a double line in the design. With a double or more line, it looks fine in the design but the cutter will go over the line 2 or more times. That with a combination of too much blade exposure would easily cut through the backing paper. When you peal your designs off the backing paper, looks closely at the paper. Is there only a light indentation, or is the paper scored/cut?

    no, not really.

    Cutting with CE 6000 plus

Your two cuts back to back, were they over the same area of the plotter? Is it possible you've gouged your cutting strip in some areas?

    Suggested cutter for education setting?

I would suggest a 24" cutter. Aside from vinyl being easily found in that size, once people at the school realize what all can be done with a vinyl cutter I expect it'll be used quite heavily for stuff around the school.

    Switch to MAC

Kind of a side question, you always hear about running windows stuff on Macs, does anyone ever run mac stuff on windows?

    Mh721 Possible weak/intermittent carrier?

If the cutter doesn't drop when power is turned off I don't think that's an electronics problem. With power removed there should be nothing holding the cut head up and it should just fall. The only two reasons I can think of that would prevent that, would be something physically blocking the head from moving, or power is not actually being removed from the solenoid.

    signblazer

The version of EPS matters as well. Not all EPS's are the same, and not all EPS's are vectors either. If you don't mind, and it's not a copyright violation, post one of the eps files that you can't open here and we'll give it at try opening it in SB.

    Mh721 Possible weak/intermittent carrier?

depending on your soldering skills the z-chip can still be replaced, just not as easily as it use to be.

change the comm on your computer. Control Panel -> Device Manager ->find comm 7, right click select properties, Port Settings, Advanced, select a different comm number. For some reason it will usually saw 1 and 2 are used even though they are not. I believe Signblazer tops out at 4, so set the device to comm 1, 2, 3, or 4 and you should be able to get it to then work in SB.

    Sign Blazer Driver question

Ok, so to bring back a long dead thread. Does anyone know what to select in the list of Signblazer to get a cameo to work? My sister just bought one that came with the free Silhouette Studio software, which can not open or import vector files! Why the hell would you make a cutting program that can't open vector files? Uggg! She's not nearby or I would just install signblazer myself and go through it till I found something that worked. I'd like to be able to give her a simple set of instructions to get up and running.

    Oracal 651 or 631?

631 is considered removable wall vinyl. It is a matte finish and has a low tack so that it can be removed from drywall without causing damage. 651, does come in matte, but most colors are gloss. It has a higher tack, have never tried, but I don't believe it could be removed from drywall without causing damage to the drywall. The type of paint can have an impact on how well vinyl will stick. Stain resistant or easy clean paint can some times be hard to get vinyl to stick. If that turns out to be the case, scuffing the wall where the vinyl will hang can help get the vinyl to stick.

pinch roller don’t move mh 871

hard to say for sure, but looks like it's twisted, and possibly bent. I"d start with just grabbing it with your hands and try to straighten it out before getting a hammer involved.

    Is the font really free?

I found a font, House-a-rama-League-Night, and I can find it for free several different places. However, I also found creator's web page, House Industries, and they have the font priced at $75. So are all the pages that have it listed as free illegal? I want to be on the up and up for this project so if I decide to go with this font I'll probably buy it but what's everyone's take on the font being free on so many web pages?

    Image conversion Services

I suspect what you're really looking for is how to vector images. Don't know if SCALP can do that or not. If you want to stick with free, download Inkscape and give it a try. It's a vector editor and is quite powerful for a free program. You can use Inkscape to create and design image then save it as an svg or eps and import that into SCALP.

    Is the font really free?

I wondered about the free for personal use, but oddly, I couldn't find any sort of license agreement on any of the free sites. Fonts I've looked at in the past usually have something saying for personal use only or what ever. Unfortunately I can't pass the cost on to my customer, the customer is my wife. Best I could do would be to claim it as a business deduction on taxes next year.

    Does vinyl need to cure?

Don't know about an actual cure time, would stand to reason though, the "glue" will dry eventually. I do know it's much easier to remove fresh vinyl than old.

    Oramask Stencil or Cheap Vinyl?

Depends on what you're using the stencil for and what if any complains you have using greenstar as a stencil. I use scrap viny, for stencils for media blasting and powder coating. It works well in both cases and never had a need to step up to true stencil material. I would step up from green start to oracal, just the easy in weeding is worth the extra little cost.

Laser Point 2 won't always boot up and freezes

Depends on what you're wanting to do with the printer. In terms of standard paper printing, laser is better for speed and cost, inkjet is better for photo and images. What are you wanting to do with your printer?

    Roller marks on my vinyl?

You can loosen the pinch rollers, but more often then not people that do that cause more problems than they solve. The marks should work themselves out when you apply. If not, maybe hit it with a little heat to work them out after applying.
  23. Have you tried saving the svg files in different svg formats? Because SVG is an open source format, it is not as strictly controled as a proprietary format would be and different software treats different aspects of the format slightly differently. Inkscape can save as "Inkscape SVG", "Plain SVG", and "Optimized SVG". Might try a different one and see how it works. Inkscape can also save off as EPS so might just give that a go.

You mean art work you created? Just simply copy the SBD files from one computer to another.
