How do I get my image from the internet traced and printed?

Recommended Posts

I'm using a Vinyl Express R 31 Series 2, and my software that I'm currently using is LXi Apprentice...

Here is my question...

How do I get a picture from the internet on there to where it cuts out just the outlining of the picture?

I've been having a lot of trouble and would really appreciate anyone that could help me.

Thank you so much.

You will have to use a vector based software, like Illustrator, Corel  or even FREE inkscape.org software to trace and vector your design.   LXi Apprentice doesn't have a vector trace feature in it.

Picture from the internet?  Unless you have permission from the design owner, or a license to use it,,, or it is public domain images, you don't have the right to use it. There are copyright laws against those type of uses...

Remember, there is a high probability of the image you have from the internet being VERY poor quality, and the resulting vector will require a lot of node editing to clean it up.

For the record, VinylMasterCUT (basic) provides a built-in vector/trace function that works really well.

The cost of that software is $60.

Although your VinylExpress machine is not specifically listed as having a driver in VM, it's a-branded Redsail cutter, and as such, probably the MH (or even Roland) drivers are compatible.

In any case, you can always vectorize in VM, Export as AI. (not the newer version) and Import the result into your cutting software (Lxi)
