Cuttter 1 Posted April 13, 2008 That looks Gr8! I would like to know how you did it also!, I know I could stroke the image in PS, is that how you did it?
firemalt 10 Posted April 13, 2008 I did it in Inkscape. Open Inkscape. Import image. Select/highlight image. Go to "Path"(at the top menu). Scroll down to "Trace Bitmap". Leave "Brightness cutoff" selected. Change the "Threshold" number to your liking. Click on "Update" to see the changes. Once you have the image where you like it, click on "OK". Close the "Trace Bitmap" menu box. Click on "File"(at the top menu). Scroll down to "Save As". Change the name of the image to want you want it to be. Choose a location to save the image at. Choose the format you want the image saved as(in this case, we want .eps). Click "Save". When closing Inkscape, it will ask you if you would like to save the image as a .svg as well... I always click on "Close without saving". I know it sounds/looks like a lot of steps, but it can be done in about 30 seconds!
Guest Terry Posted April 13, 2008 You got to be kidding me, I've been adding strokes and all kinds of crap to that thing.
firemalt 10 Posted April 13, 2008 That's about ONLY thing I know how to do with Inkscape, lol. Although, almost every night I'm at the fire station, I practice one of the youtube videos on Inkscape... it's an incredible for being that's free!
Cuttter 1 Posted April 13, 2008 Ok Firemalt, You made my decision. I am going to download inkscape. Is this only used as a designing software? Will I be able to use it with Signblazer?
James605 7 Posted April 13, 2008 Yes you can use it with signblazer...I do it about everyday..Inkscape will give you alot better vectors alot faster than signblazer in my opinion... i use inkscape to get the vector then all signblazer from there... Good luck
firemalt 10 Posted April 13, 2008 Inkscape is a deisgn and vectorizing program... no cutting abilities.

BannerJohn 1,324 Posted April 13, 2008 I've said it before many times..Inkscape is a geat application. Not just because it is FREE but for lots of reasons. Of course,FREE is the best reason. Inkscape has worked for me many times when nothing else would.

firemalt 10 Posted April 14, 2008 Just got to youtube and type in Inkscape... there isn't a video on what I did for Terry. If I know how to make one, I'd do one. Maybe that's something I'll look into learning how to do this week
CyberSultan 6 Posted April 14, 2008 I just downloaded and installed Inkscape. I compared the trace between Inkscape and Illustrator CS3, and the result came out much better with Inkscape on this graphic. Very nice! Thanks for the tip about Inkscape. I'm sure I will be using it regularly going forward. And you can't beat free.

Goodwin 0 Posted June 7, 2008 Terry: What size did you cut that image? I need to test my cutter on doing an image with quite thin lines, as some times the blade will lift things if the cut is really fine. Would like to cut that image at the same dimensions, if you have a SignBlazer file that is the same size could you share it?
Guest Terry Posted June 7, 2008 I use Flexi. It was cut at a few different sizes. Read this. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,6547.0.html
