Help please: Installation of older Kingcut A630

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I purchased an older Kingcut A360 USB without any software. Now I am trying to install it under Windows XP using the files at http://www.creation.com.hk/eng/support.asp, especially http://www.creation.com.hk/eng/uploadfile/download/A_series_driver.zip. As far as I understand, these usb cutters have a built in usb to rs232 port and that needs to be installed as a com port under windows...the only thing I can do with this driver is to install it as a "usb serial bus controller" called vectorsoft cutter board". It does not show up as under com ports at all. Does anybody happen to have the proper installation disk / cd or can anybody help with the problem?

Btw, when downloading and unzipping the a_series_driver file, there is another driver called "paradriver0124.exe". When installing it, it creates a folder call commwatch, in which is another exe file, which lets me move the cutter head left to right etc. I also believe that this program creates 2 virtual com ports however my cutter is not associated with them and still listed as a "usb serial controller.

Anyway, I hope this makes sense to somebody. Please help.

Cheers,

Thomas

One of your countrymen, a guy named Jerry Bonham (now deceased, unfortunately) developed a cutting program that is kick-ass, and it contains the driver for your machine, you can probably get up and running in five minutes.

Hi guys,

thanks for the warm welcome and your ideas etc. I tried the Signblazer software. It worked well, but my problem seems to be a different one. As far as I understand these USB plotters (or at least this one) the installation has 2 steps:

1) install the USB into Windows. This is much like one of those USB to RS232 cables, as it emulates a com port for all those "modern" laptops that are usb only. I use one of those for work to program satellite receivers. Now here is my problem as my cutter's "internal usb to rs232" if you will does not register with XP. I tried their "step by step with pictures" see here http://www.creation.com.hk/download/usb232.zip with their usb drivers here http://www.creation.com.hk/download/USB_32bit.zip as well as their a-series cutter drivers here http://www.creation.com.hk/eng/uploadfile/download/A_series_driver.zip but all I can do is install the thing as a "Vectorsoft cutting board" under "universal serial bus controllers". There is nothing like "virtual COM" or something in the com ports of the device manager.

2) software install. I am guessing that this "vectorsoft cutting board" is the actual machine...that seems to work fine.

This is getting to me...I better pack it away for a while.

Cheers,

Thomas

Its says that this is a UK version, does it matter where you are? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but I am just making sure

Location doesn't matter but both versions have different cutters listed
