Coaster36 327 Posted February 24, 2013 You have to adjust your threshold. Every picture is different and b needs a different number. You have to play with it and see what works best.
OWJones 1,981 Posted March 4, 2013 You can also check out Vector Magic - http://vectormagic.com/home You can upload your image and try it out before you buy/subscribe to make sure it will handle your image. If you register, you can do two online conversions for free. It's only $8/month to subscribe or $295 to buy it and own it forever -- if you regularly find yourself running into situations where you need to vectorize bitmap images, then it pays for itself in no time. I never even bothered to subscribe - once I uploaded a trial image and saw how well it worked, I just went ahead and bought and have never regretted it. Inkscape does a very good job, but Vector Magic pretty much nails it first time every time.
TimnAng 56 Posted March 7, 2013 I was using Inkscape to do all of my tracing, but have recently been using Make The Cut, and find that to work even better!
darcshadow 1,627 Posted March 28, 2013 You can also try editing the image to get a good crisp edge to then do a bitmap trace in inkscape. I've found http://pixlr.com/editor/ this page to be a pretty handy free online editor. The magic wand tool isn't as nice as the one from Photoshop but it usually gets the job done.
