epson is cheapest to get into it but sawgrass virtuoso uses ricoh and gel inks - much more forgiving if you are printing every few days - I have gone 3 months without printing on a ricoh and was no problem - epson's not so forgiving - it is a lot of fun -

get a cheap older computer and dedicate it to the mh - don't connect to the internet with that computer and it will always be happy and ready to go - I design on my main computer and take my artwork on a thumb drive to my dedicated set up

Cathy - the MH is the simplest, cheapest value plotter - more used to get people hooked - then as they want more features and more accuracy they move up over time - so adding features to an mh really doesn't make sense as someone with less tact kinda was alluding to - the sc is the lowest plotter that we recommend to most new buyers - but then again many of us started at one time with a mh or p-cut (p-cut has been cut from the line up years ago) and as we got better and made a little money worked our way up to higher end plotters - if you have questions don't be afraid to ask.

David s still working on the update, not live yet. That was a glitch he wasn’t aware of till I contacted him asking about a timetable to finish. Good things come to those who wait -
MH871 New Install Not Polling in Flexi 10
Dakotagrafx replied to DaMoma's topic in MH Series Vinyl Cutters
using a $2500 software on a $300 plotter you will lose some functionality of that top shelf software graphtecs and rolands will poll - maybe even a titan2 -
never had that issue with any of my graphtecs either until the ce7000 - like skeeter said make sure to prefeed and not make the plotter pull from a roll. that plotter has been rode hard and put up wet - has it crept up on you since 2017 and gotten worse or is this a different plotter?

MH871 New Install Not Polling in Flexi 10
Dakotagrafx replied to DaMoma's topic in MH Series Vinyl Cutters
you also need to install the ftdi driver for the plotters usb emulation chipset for the plotter to communicate with the computer - - - this plotter uses a cheaper shipset and it not a regular usb set up like your printer would be - - - - -

I can't argue - I might have tried to argue before I actually owned the fc but you are 100 percent correct -
Cutting X+ Direction Uneven - CE7000-60
Dakotagrafx replied to levy4u's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Support Requests
it cost me thousands more to upgrade to the fc after I sent the ce7000 back and had already sold my beloved ce6000 -
we aren't all that familiar with the plotters sold under the mh series outside the US - they are different than the ones that uscutter sells but betting same problem exist with a regular stand (that you don't use) that the rubber feet on the plotter insulates the stand - where other plotters have metal to metal stand/ plotter connection - many people don't have trouble for months or years - until that one zap takes out the z control chip on the mainboard

personally have never tried plastic holder - thinking plastic and vinyl would hold a charge - maybe use a static tinsel to discharge. reviews on this product are not great but wonder what machines they used them on and what the problems actually were. https://uscutter.com/Anit-Static-Kit-for-Vinyl-Cutters/

Tip for others on the forum working with large format tile - covering the tile with your application tape allows you to draw on the gloss surface and precisely cut those lines - used it for outlets and the first shower tiles and worked great. you could draw on the back of the tile but when making the cuts I prefer to slowly cut from the good side to minimize any chipping. the tile by the shower valves is just temporarily setting there until I mix more mortar - just checking fit your vinyl supplies work great for so much more than decals. a while back I needed to cut a specific size hole in some aluminum and cut a circle in 651, applied it and then just followed the vinyl as a guide

Cutting X+ Direction Uneven - CE7000-60

it is painful to see one model go so wrong after a company has such a glowing reputation . . . -
Would love to hav3 an answer for you arty but I haven’t had an epson in so long I have no idea. I sold almost all of my sublimation stuff to someone starting locally. Hoping to travel more and work less , once we can. Good luck sir and enjoy. If you see janette say high from me

Nothing to do but dig in and get it done. We are not as fast as 25 years ago and this time all plumbing is moving 11”. Demo was a bit slower as we filled 3 residential dumpsters a week instead of paying $1000 for an extra big dumpster. That and everything seems heavier than last time. Oh and the 4 days of clean up after the storms, we got hit hard. My daughter and sil have removed 14 loads of brush and only scratched the surface.

Graphtec CE7000 Push Rollers
Dakotagrafx replied to ECombs's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
read the thread - you are not alone - I returned mine and bought a fc9000 because I was used to having all my other graphtecs feed with absolutely no problem - the ce7000 has issues since moving productions to another country IMHO. I also believe that is why the older ce5000 and ce6000 prices have been at an all time high for used plotters - -
Roland TrueVIS eco solvent printers and "ink smell"
Dakotagrafx replied to Anetski's topic in Printers
what slice said - OEM would be the Roland inks - there are other that make ink that works with the same printers but in my experience cause way more problems and much higher odors -
Roland TrueVIS eco solvent printers and "ink smell"
Dakotagrafx replied to Anetski's topic in Printers
I have had 3 roland eco solvents in my home - OEM inks not bad at all, aftermarket stink terribly and cause more problems. as to if it is safe I have no idea but had them for 7 years in our house running. Just keep it printing every couple of days - biggest issue is people buying them because printing is sexy and easy and not enough use they are replacing very expensive heads - and the reason we sold out last one as we started going on 3 week vacations and hope to snowbird someday - I could count on at least 1 new head after 3 weeks away, even with the printer doing it's own self cleanings 3 times a day. they don't like to sit unused and will let you know about it -
Sure Cuts Alot Pro 3 makes wonky cuts
Dakotagrafx replied to EpicDecal's topic in Sure Cuts A Lot Pro
with your work you show on your web site maybe think of moving up to a graphtec and get graphtec pro studio free - or use the plug in for AI with a graphtec - With that said if you did all the work shown on your web site and on here with a SC I am impressed. read thru the scalp part of the forum - many people have had issues with it over the years - -
stencil material slides out of place
Dakotagrafx replied to Spotted Dog's topic in GraphTec Cutting Plotter Discussion
the ce7000 won't print - only cut - if using as a cutter I would guess one of 2 things - too much blade exposure causing drag or the known issue of the vinyl bunching up between the rollers as it feeds. feed it without cutting or using a pen and see if the vinyl raises up between the rollers or stays flat -
License for flexi, VE-LXI and Graphtec pro studio tied to hardware
Dakotagrafx posted a topic in Flexi
Learned something new tonight - last week I upgraded the processor in my design computer and found out tonight that the VE_LXI-Master Plus and Graphtec Pro studio wouldn't launch due to license issue. A call to SAI Support sorted it out and found out the flexi software's take note of certain hardware configurations to make sure it isn't used on another computer. in about 15 minutes both programs are back to normal. Never even considered the processor upgrade with no other changes would have put my flexi versions out of service . . . . just for reference if someone else runs into this -
License for flexi, VE-LXI and Graphtec pro studio tied to hardware
Dakotagrafx replied to Dakotagrafx's topic in Flexi
Not cloud, all I did was swap the processor for a new ryzen7 3700x (old one was a ryzen 7 1500x). No other changes and never touched the dongles. But the configuration changed from when the software was installed so triggered a license violation. Ve Lexi master plus 12 and newest version of graphtec pro studio
