    Hello from Washington State!

Welcome, Pat. I'm also in Spokane, WA. Nick
  2. Wow. I have a roll of static cling at home and I was wondering what to do with it. Now I know. Thanks Jay!

    My first store front sign

This was my first large cut and application. I think it turned out well. I messed up during the application and ended up having to replace one of the letters the next day. It went easier than I thought it would.

    Are you in Spokane, Jay?

    My first store front sign

Yeah I new they were going to be off centered because the ones on the left are longer than the ones on the right. He wanted it to be as similar to the previous as much as possible and the previous one the names were centered off the center of Veterinarians. Thanks for the feedback though!
  6. It looks great. You must have spent a lot of time on it! It took me a while to figure everything out and to un-hide everything. One thing that would make it more friendly for the people that you might be giving it to would be a little instruction on how to use it. Mostly just where to enter your personal numbers. I noticed a few times where you share values a lot between sheets and I didn't know where to start to enter the value in the first place. Thanks for sharing!
  7. I'm getting ready to do my first store front install. In the picture below the owner just wants me to remove the bottom Dr's name, then replace Poquette with Grace. Would you do that or would you replace the whole thing? Basically he asked for the first one but I'm thinking about doing the second because it seems easier to make sure everything is lined up and that the color hasn't faded. This is for my wife's boss and she only wants me to charge him for what he wants. What would you guys do and what would you charge for it? The window is 57" wide and it's 14" from bottom to top of vinyl. Also, do you have any tips for removing the vinyl from the glass? Tools, cleaner..?

Thanks again everyone. You've all been very helpful!

    Vinyl by the foot?

If anyone else is still looking for smaller rolls of vinyl I found this last year and it's where I bought my first few rolls before I had a cutter. I just needed lots of colors and not very much of each. It seems to be mostly Oracal 651, but I did get another brand in there too. http://www.etsy.com/shop/VinylVillage?ref=pr_shop_more

    First store front install

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll grab some stainless steel razor blades or some plastic ones before I remove the vinyl. I also read somewhere that ammonia helps with removing it. But if a razor blade and some cleaner will do the trick I will stick to that. Any other suggestions for cleaner, or will Windex do the trick? As far as pricing goes, my wife wants me to cut him a deal because she says he's really cheap. That's why he is going with me and not a professional. I told her I'd do it for $40. $20 for the vinyl and $20 for the install. She was a little concerned it was too steep. But I wanted to see what others would charge for it to see if I'd actually be cutting him a deal or not.

    name that font, please?

    Thank you!

    name that font, please?

I tried whatthefont and whatfontis and they couldn't help with the picture that I have. My friends told me Arial, but it's not quite. The R in the picture is a little curly on the right leg. It's a pretty basic font that I just can't find.
  13. I have not tried the pen, thanks for the suggestion I will try it next. Also, I haven't installed the signcut software because I didn't want to become reliant on it and have to pay for it down the road. I did notice people talking about the "over cut" feature and it sounds nice. I don't use my cutter very often as this is just a hobby and not a business so that's why I'm able to keep cutting with this issue. I maybe use it once or twice a week.
  14. Yes I did notice this. I was trying to provide any information to him that I have that could possibly help him. In return I was hoping that anything that he finds that works for him will possibly help me.
  15. I've had this same problem since I bought my cutter a couple months ago and nothing I've tried has fixed it. I have a thread for it in the MH series section here: http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/34878-cutter-not-returning-to-exact-starting-point-of-the-cut/ You can read up on that because there are a lot of suggestions to try. I only ask one thing, if you find something that works or helps in the slightest bit PLEASE reply to either thread and let me know. That's the biggest issue I've seen on these, and probably many other, forums is that once people find something that works they never reply again.
  16. I saw this in a different thread and it sounds just like what I'm experiencing. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/27292-vinyl-cutting-problem/page__hl__%2Bdifficult+%2Bweed__fromsearch__1 Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to work around it with SignBlazer?
  17. On some cuts the knife does not return to the exact starting position of the cut. This happens on most round cuts, like a D an O or a period. The size of the text is either under half an inch or up to an inch and a half. I've tried numerous things like changing the speed, the pressure and the blade offset. None of these seem to be showing any type of improvement. The issue isn't so bad that there is a big section un cut, but just enough that makes weeding very difficult. I've used up yards of vinyl trying to figure out this issue before I start producing for customers. I've attached both the SBD and the AI file. Please provide any help possible. Cutter: MH721 Purchased: 12/19/2011 Connection: serial Software: signblazer OS: Windows 7 Material: Oracal 651
  18. dakotagrafx, is there any way around this with SignBlazer? Or any other way to fix it?

    Fonts & "Hanging Chads"

Dave did you ever resolve this issue?
  20. nsackman22

ok so I am just another newbie

I'm having this issue I'm using all the same brand and type of vinyl (Oracal 651), and my cuts are going through the vinyl just fine. It's just the issue where the cut starts and where it ends. Read the thread that I had going here: http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/34878-cutter-not-returning-to-exact-starting-point-of-the-cut/ I went back last night and tried adjusting my blade offset again. I got it up to 0.30mm and all my points and angles are looking great but the start and finish of some cuts aren't coming together. Me changing the offset hasn't affected this at all. TruckCentral, what did your offset end up being?

ok so I am just another newbie

    Did this work for you?
  22. I tried the oil. I put 1 drop in the blade holder and moved the blade around to make sure the oil got everywhere. This didn't seem to help the issue any. There is no vinyl stuck to the blade. My test cuts seem fine to me. I don't know what to try next. I think I'll call uscutter. I have been cutting anyways and just bearing with the issue in the weeding process.
  23. I will try the oil, but i've got to find some first. Do you have any recommendations? I lowered the blade offset by 0.05 intervals from 0.4 to i think 0.2 and i saw no difference in the cuts. I'm entering the offset in the cutter setup in signblazer, is that correct? I haven't done test cuts but the corners are all what I expect in my design cuts. It's just this cut connection point that i'm having issues with. Thanks for responding Skeeter.
  24. So I've studied it a little bit and thought about what you guys have said to me and I think I have narrowed down what is happening. When the blade finishes a cut it is lifted and moved(or the vinyl is moved) to the start of the next cut. When it is set down it may or may not be rotated to the correct direction that it is going to be moved for that cut and it has to rotate to the new direction while the cut is started. When I look at the vinyl right after it is cut I can see a curved cut where I'm seeing this issue. This to me looks like the blade was set down and then rotated into the correct direction. Does this sound like something that might be happening? Is there any way to work around it? Is there something that I can change in signblazer to require that the next cut must be started in the same direction that the last cut ended?
  25. Thanks for the replies everyone. Skeeter, my blade offset is set at 0.40mm. I didn't see a change between 0.25 and 0.40. The offset on the box the blades came in says 0.25-1.00mm. The blade was cutting through the paper backing but then I adjusted it just a tiny bit and now it's not. So i'm assuming that the blade depth doesn't have anything to do with this. FBRsportmod68, the 60 degree blade doesn't come with the mh-721 i'm assuming?
