    SignCut Support Portal

    Hello. As one of those who work with support in the company that developed and maintains SignCut I would like to encourage you all to use our support portal when in need of help. Of course we like when you customers help each other but we are also there for you when in need of help. On our support portal you usually have a response within 24 hours(normal response time =1-8hours depending on available support agents). Follow this link to get there: http://signcut.zende...om/registration When entering a ticket for support please include the following information to avoid a delay in solving your problem. 1. Type of computer operating system and version 2. Type of plotter(Manufacturer and model) 3. Type of cable connection you have between your cutting plotter and computer. 4. License number used in the program and version of the program - please open signcut and click help>about signcut and give us the license number and sub release version number you find there. 5. Click the cutter button and give us the settings for Manufacturer, Cutter, Device and Baud Rate. If using a USB cable please make sure you have installed the drivers that came with your plotter. If you are having issues with files please try test cutting a layer in the default Signcut Logo and report the results, if the logo cuts but your file does not transfer or cut properly please attach a sample file. Once we receive this information we will try to assist you promptly. While this forum is an excellent source of information our staff does not monitor it on a daily basis, we have many dealers all over the world and there are many forums available for our dealers users. Unfortunately we can not assign individual team members to monitor and reply to each of these forums. These forums are best used for member to member support and can be a valuable source of information but should you need help from our company please utilize the support@signcut.net email.     Horrible cut quality - stuttering

    Hi, The issue you have sounds as it has to do with the curve resolution setting in SignCut. If you click Cutter in the settings menu then you find an option called Curve resolution. We normally recommend to have it set to half since SignCut cut every single node when it is set to 100% so if there are a lot of them in the curves in your design then it takes longer time and the result can also be more stuttering. When setting the curve resolution lower SignCut removes nodes and makes the lines smoother. It should not effect the result of the design.     Trouble with export plugins for AI

    Glad to see sign cut back on the forum, way to go. is Kimon still around? He isn't an employee of the company anymore.     Signcut opens with a blank grey screen.

    Hi, I just want to inform you customers that when SignCut opens up as a grey window but you still can see the menues in the top of the program it is because the program configuration file has been damaged. This happens when something in the computer disrupt the program from saving the program data while you close the program or the program doesn't have administration rights to save data to the application data folder in the computer. It doesn't happend that often but when it does you solve it easily by starting the program by clicking the icon on your desktop or under the start menu, then when the program starts you click on "Reset settings" in the settings menu. That will reset the configuration file back to as it was when installing the program the first time. You might loose some personal settings and need to set them again but it will make the program work again as it should. This is something out of our hands since it is a computer related problem but we added the "Reset settings" option to solve it. Hope this information helps. Regards, Therese Löfström SignCut Sweden

    Annoying weeding frame problem.

    Hi, Thank you for your posts. We have done a lot of changes in our company during the last year. One of the things I'm doing as head of the support is to try to be active in as many places as possible. What I like with this forum is the kindness you customers show each other and your will to help each other solving problems even if you don't know each other.     Hello. This is Therese at SignCut Sweden. I would like to help you with this but I don't have a clear picture of what you mean. If you are having problem with the weeding frame in Signcut then one way to get around this is to turn of the weeding frame in Signcut by click the cutout-button and unmark "Use weeding frame". Then before you save your design in Inkscape, you simply add a rectangle around your design if you want a frame around it. That should solve the problem and you can desibe by yourself how long distance you want between your design and the rectangle around it. Regards, Therese Löfström

    Anyone use a network Print Server with Signcut?

    Hello. This is Therese at SignCut Sweden. I don't think we have tried to use that device that you are refering to but it is possible to cut with a cutting plotter connected over a shared network. Below you have the steps you should go through to set up a shared cutter. To setup a shared cutter with signcut. 1. On the computer where the cutter is connected, go to controlpanel->printer and add a new printer. 2. Choose the correct port and then choose the Manufacturer "Generic" and the Model "Generic / Text Only". 3. When the printer has been added, rename it to something you can identify then right-click on it and share it on your local network. 4. If the cutter is connected through serial-port or USB->serial port. Go to computer-management and setup the ports communication parameters. (Baud/Handshake etc) 5. On the computer that's gonna use the shared cutter, make sure it finds the shared cutter and choose it as Device in SignCut. 6. Now when you cut out the data will be sent to the shared cutter.     HELP can't cut need a work around

    Hello. This is Therese as SignCut Sweden. I would like to solve your problem so you can use Signcut again if you prefer to use it. If you want you can contact me at therese@whisqu.se and I will give you a repair-tool that we created for dongles that has problems. This hopefully will solve your problem with the dongle and Signcut crashing. Sharing your cutter through a network is possible. Here are the steps you should go through to get it to work.     Exporting from Corel

    Hello. I know this is an old topic but I write some information here anyway. The problem that makes size changing during export from Corel Draw to Signcut are solved in our latest version 1.95. This version also have new plugins for Corel Draw that will be installed when you upgrade from Signcut version 1.07. For those of you that use Corel Draw X6 new updated plugins was released about 1-2 weeks ago. Corel Draw made an update that made the plugin for X6 that was installed during the upgrade to version 1.95 unreliable. These new plugins needs to be installed manually and are available here.     not finishing lines with text

    It is hard to help you without having a file that I can look at or some pictures of your problem. But I think it will be solved if you click on the "cut-out icon" and then on the "Advanced Settings-tab" in the cut out dialog. There you have an option called "overcut".     Save your file as AI-format compatibility 8,0 instead of EPS-format. It should solve the problem. Files from Illustrator works better as AI-format 8,0 then EPS-format. Regards, Therese Löfström

    sc series cutter not listed in sign cut

    Hello. It is always important to save the patch in the same folder as Signcut. When you change where you save Signcut, you also have to change where you save the patch. Signcut only looks in it's program folder for drivers. It doesn't search the whole computer for it. So for everyone else that has the same problem and doesn't understand how this person here got it to work. You need to save the patch in the signcut folder. This is Signcut normal folder is you don't change it during the installation of Signcut: C:\Program Files (x86)\SignCut\ Hope this information helps anyone. Regards, Therese Löfström

    Hello. Please save your files as AI-format, Compability 8,0. That normally helps. I can see that you use EPS-format. Also when you have your file in Signcut, open the preview and check that everything looks like it should. If it does then this is a driver problem and we at SignCut Sweden need to take a look at it.     Hello. Here you have an article about an easy way to make sure you have the right communication port set in Signcut. It sounds as it is your problem. https://getsatisfaction.com/signcut/topics/what_output_device_port_do_i_choose_for_my_cutter Sometimes it also works if you change the handshake. I don't know what handshake your cutter uses but it is worth trying. Also make sure you have the right Baud set in Signcut. Look in your cutters display for the right Baud. Regards, Therese Löfström

    my logo wont appear in signcut using inkscape. pls help

    Hello. Your files opens up in Signcut without any problems when I try them, but I had to resave your EPS-file. What did you set the settings in the EPS-dialog to when you saved your file. It should be postscript level 3 and only convert text to path should be marked. What version of Inkscape do you use? Click About Inkscape in the help menu. I would like to know also what version of Signcut you use. You can find this by clicking on About Signcut in the help menu in Signcut. Do you use Mac or Windows? But it is very normal that customers saves as newer AI-format and SignCut can't read newer then Adobe Illustrator 8,0 so even if the files looks okay, it sometimes cuts more then it is in the image. But I'm not an advanced technican. That's why it would be better that he entered our chat so Kimon could take a look at it. His been working with SignCut for years. What I like with this forum is that all people really tries to help each other and sometimes you guys have better answers than I do. I have only worked with SignCut for about 8month. I think your problem has to do with your files. What design software do you use? What format do you save your files as? If there is any other options when you save your files, what have you set them to? You save your files in different ways in both Inkscape, Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator so I need to know this first before I can help you.
