  1. the LP has the ability to do the test cut box without even being connected to any computer. if you're having issues with simply running that test cut from the machine, then it's an issue with the machine. unfortunately, the LP is long out of production, and I'm not sure how available parts are for it. you might want to start considering an upgrade to a newer machine.

Designs Having Lines Cut Through Them

If you have access to a PC, desktop or laptop, or have a friend with a laptop. I would download and install SignBlazer Elements. It's an good program that's a bit antiquated, but it's the 'go to' for testing when there are issues. At this point, it really won't cost you anything but some time and effort.

    Printing on Vinyl

If you try to inkjet (or laserjet) with inappropriate media, you can potentially look for some streaking and smudging on some of the rollers that can take forever to to go away (if it does at all). It's not worth "trying" this kind of thing unless you're okay with replacing your printer. This doesn't just apply to trying to print on vinyl, it goes the same for some photo papers, over head projector clear sheets (yes, some people still utilize this old 'technology', shrinky dink plastic, etc..

wet application and patience will be your best friend. you can probably search youtube, and there's probably a bunch of videos about it.
  9. quel est le message d'erreur? quel est le numéro de modèle de votre cutter? [What is the error message? what is the model number of your cutter?]
  10. keep on using the old PC for your cutter. cutters are fairly simple machines. i tend to stay away from any version of windows that will not allow me to turn off automatic updates. when using windows, i use windows 7. i have windows 10 machines that like to update automatically, and then i end up needing to see which one of my programs stops working properly after the update.
  11. If you have a good working SBE that you like, keep it. I've "installed" 7.x and when I fire up SBE, it still says it's version 6.x. I was the opposite of you, I used the 9-pin for my initial connection from my puter to the cutter, and when that finally stopped working, I cut over the the usb port on the cutter.

    printing on zippo flip lighter

MOPA Fiber Laser will get you different colors, but you'd have to go through a trial and error process to adjust the laser frequency to get the colors you want based on the type of metal being engraved. You might also look for something who has a UV Printer, they might be able to help you.

    Help vectorizing a logo...Please

It doesn't have to be an .eps, i can be any kind of vector file - .svg, .ai, even a .pdf would be more helpful to you. If you're willing to pay $10 for it, then you can hit up the Vector Magic website. There's an online edition that's $10/month, but it will allow you to upload the image and see what it would look like after their engine has vectorized it. It's a free preview. If you like what you see, then you can subscribe (for a month), but it will allow you to download the file in a few different vector formats.

    SC2 double cutting image

Is it cutting the entire graphic twice, or just some areas? You have some smaller pieces in the layout that are the same color as the larger, are they meant to be cut outs? I've recolored the smaller pieces that are embedded. If it's only going back to cut the pieces I recolored, then the cutter is doing it's job, because you have those cut line in there. If it's re-cutting the whole job, then it's probably something in the VM settings that you need to take a look at. Which version of VM are you using? If you do not mean to have those recolored area in your graphic, then remove them completely.

    Mystery cutter KI-720

So no dice so far? My original LaserPoint (I), still looks brand new, protective film and all. Since you don't know the age of it, I would suggest download SignBlazer and give that a go. There are a ton of cutters listed, and it might take time, but it might be worth it to go one by one and send a small test file. You only need one to work!

Pix Max Cutter Start Up Issues

In another forum *cough* *cough*, a user stated that, "It Is a pair of faulty motor driver chip on the motherboard. Located under the heatsink." Not quite helpful, but at least informative. It is probably time to find a replacement cutter though
  25. In a perfect world, that would be great . Unfortunately, I learned a while ago, that when it comes to my cutters, never to rely on anything auto detecting, even if it appears to be a feature in the software. I will always manually select the appropriate comport. I do wish it was more intuitive and it could just be a total plug and play thing, but the tech on the cutters is so far behind any current operating system. It is truly a fairly simple machine, just dressed up and all fancy on the new ones
