Vinyl widths & colors what to stock up on?

Order what you need and when you start to run a little low, order more. Outside of the occasional delay you can usually get what ever you ordered in a couple of days. If you don't have a color a customer wants, just tell them you don't have any on hand and it will be a day or two to get some. Most people are understanding. Having a color chart on hand would be a good thing though, so they can at least see exactly what the color looks like and not just a color image on a computer screen.

    Illustrator Effects

Neat effects, but yeah, a bit hard to read on a quick glance. Perhaps if the wording was a more solid color, say the chrome color of the outer oval.

    Tool box, part II

A toaster oven will work as well for small parts and if you keep your eye out on craigslist someone will be giving away a free oven at some point, then it's just a matter of the 220V line to power it.

    Photoshop/ illustrator frustration

Where's the stray line being cut?

    Photoshop/ illustrator frustration

The double cut is due to having multiple layers. Ungroup the entire image, then select the large white rectangle background and change it to some color like red and you will see all the extra shapes that are not necessary. Easiest fix would be to do a select all by color and select all the white stuff and delete them. Or in your cutting software tell it to only cut the black color.

    16" full color decal wanted

I have a buddy wanting a full color decal about 16" square. The decal will be installed on a trailer so it will see a good bit of sun. Anyone have the ability to create something for him that will last a reasonable length of time? Here is a small version of the image he's wanting. I have a better image I can send for the actual print.

    Node help in Ai

I don't have AI, but I suspect your problem is the white fills. If you put the image on a colored background you can see the fills and get a better understanding of what is going on. I use Inkscape, and if I try to merge all the objects it all goes white because it's using the white fill to color everything. If you're other images also have white fill like this, but have not had any issues when cutting, you might want to closely watch the cutter and see if it is in fact double cutting areas of the image, or as wildgoose suggest, your cutting software could be sorting it out for you.

    Solid State Hard Drive??

Go-C SSDs can be used just like normal HDs. The only difference is that SSDs have a limited life span. Data can only be written to them x number of times. Now granted that number is pretty high and unlikely a typical user will ever hit the limit, but it is a fact of all solid state devices.

    Wet Install question

So I've read up and watched who knows how many videos but I have not been able to get the wet install method to work as well as I feel it should. I'm using 651, paper tape, and Action Tac fluid and applying to glass. I spray a light misting onto the back of the decal as well as the glass, position the graphic and squeegee the hell out of it. I then let it dry, over night in some cases, but when I go to pull the application tape off I find that there is till some fluid under the graphic preventing it from sticking and it wants to peel up as I pull the tape off. I've tried pealing the tape off both dry and after rewetting but get the same results there is enough fluid under the vinyl that it prevents it from sticking to the glass. As I said, I squeegeed the hell out of it and can't imagine how I could squeegee any different to get more fluid out. Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong, or need to do different? Or is my problem a normal part of the wet application and something you just deal with and be very careful while pulling the app tape off? The thing that gets me, some parts of the design work great and the vinyl sticks well, but other sections don't and there doesn't seem to be any reason as to why.

    Taper cut...

Be sure to take you're own measurements of the glass, don't just go by the specifications. While close, the template wasn't exact using the specs of the glass. After taking my own measurements and adjusting the template things worked out a lot better.

tips for vinyl not feeding straight

Just for reference, a credit card is about 1 millimeter thick, or about 40mils. So half a credit card, 20 mils, is about 8x thicker than a typical piece of vinyl.

Cant cut this to save my life!!

Opened it with Inkscape and only thing I saw funny was a couple of double nodes, one on the top of the right bean, and the in one of the corners of the coffee/straw. Neither of which should cause problems. Here's the file back after opening and saving with Inkscape. Shouldn't matter, but you never know, can't hurt to give it a try. coffee2.eps

    Ok you clipping mask experts......

I'd duplicate the S logo, remove the red, change the black to the color you want then put it under the masked hog.

tips for vinyl not feeding straight

check your pinch rollers, sounds like one or more may be loose and allowing the vinyl to slip a little.

    Nesting?

if you have left over backing cut your stencils, then use application tape to remove it from the original backing and stick it to your scrape backing from another job.
