I will try to keep this short. Went away on vacation for 4 weeks. Basically shut the house down. The humidity in the house went stupid high. Had a drive by job yesterday ($3) and found the left, right and condition buttons no longer worked on the keypad. Using the PC controller did. Took the right side cover off (the one with the key pad) pulled the white ribbon off the small circuit board to get the side off. Then pulled the ribbon cable that goes to the key pad, cleaned it and put it all back together. All is well and everything working just like new. No, sorry. Didn't take pic's.

I may be way off base here, but at this point I'd be willing to try anything. Win10 does automatic updates and after it updates, other software will update to match it. During these updates there are two issues. The first is that they can really drag down the computer's speed and that could be messing with your file transfer. The second is that the updates may turn certain underlying programs off and back on to implement the update. If any of these affect your USB port then data stops transmitting. I really get in to outside Christmas lights and most of the controls are run via USB. If Windows updates during a light show there is a high probability that the data flow will be interrupted. Just turning off wifi doesn't do the trick because Windows starts throwing up warnings wanting to update and those can slow or stall data flow. Run wub.exe, a free download, on WIN10 computers to prevent the automatic downloads. It can't hurt to try. I'd disconnect anything else USB also: external harddrives, speakers, printers. Anything that could be stealing time from the USB drivers.

I'm definitely going to call them now because it happened again! I wasn't that worried about the first time and figured it was a one-time thing, but wanted people to know to check their order just in case. Well, lo and behold, I got another job over the weekend with an oddball color so I ordered 5 full rolls plus 2 yards of the oddball color. The 2 yards again came in two pieces, 55 and 24 inches.

It's always amazing how often unplugging and plugging something back in fixes the problem. ha

Slice...this model has just a little room on the front and back under the hood. I had some 3/16" weather proofing tape that is 3/8" wide. I managed to get 3 pcs in the back and 2 in the front without getting in the way. It actually helped a little. It removed one higher pitched frequency that I had noticed I could change by putting my hand on the hood. After its done cutting today I'll pop open that right side and see what I've got to work with. I wonder if there is room under the cutting surface (the base) to add some foam? If I place my hand on it while it's cutting there is quite a bit of change in the sound.

Added some foam tape under the hood that covers the track and that helped a bit, but not much room in there to add anything. Dakota, I may follow your dot matrix idea and build a partial box around it with some egg crate. Darcshadow, that's what I've done when I could, start it and leave the room but it's not always possible. And today it would have been a mess! VinylMaster decided to cut each registration mark 4 times...@2 passes each for the reflective, so a total of 8 cuts for each registration mark. Needless to say the vinyl didn't stay in place and the blade holder started dragging it around.

That's sort of what I do for bigger jobs. I send the job to the cutter, make sure it gets started well, then leave the room and close the door.

with the original dot matrix printers they would have a big box that went over them with plexiglas openings to make it quieter in the office - but would take up a lot of space and cost a bit. maybe put it in a closet and close the door? remember to put a little back from each job so you can upgrade a plotter every year or two to a better model . . worked for me working up from a p-cut to copam to graphtec and rolands

Reason for such a big machine is we have big signs that MUTCD specifies. I convinced the powers that be that DIE CUTTING machine and DIES were outdated and a much cleaner, professional looking sign could be made with plotter. You are correct about weeding, although when Titan3 actually works, it's a breeze even with Diamond grade vinyl. Right now the trend is the Advanced Engineer Grade material ( as pictured above in previous post) and it even easier than 631 or 651

For VinylMaster users Titan cutters must be set to Direct USB in the Vinyl Spooler and may also need the emulation changed. Please see this guide for: How to Setup a Vinyl Cutter Please see this guide for: How to Setup Emulation (Plotter Language) Also, use the shortest possible cable you can 3' is ideal. Also, make certain the cutter is grounded so any static is discharged.
