ralais 0 Posted July 19, 2008 It has finally happened... and thanks to so many of you. I would first like to thank FiveStar who gave me the encouragement that no matter how complicated this is, I could get through it. Next I must thanks Firemalt whose humor got me through those very difficult times. Kenimes... my cutter wouldn't even be running right now if it wasn't for your amazing instructional skills. And JC... *wipes tear* You made me want to be the cutter I am today. Thank you to all those I didn't name, but you know who you are & you are great! And most off I have to thank that hepher in the decal store who couldn't make me the decal I wanted so I had to buy my own dern cutter to make it... and my mother for making me as determined as she is to have the guts to go all in on a cutter just to get one simple decal. Thank you... thank you! And the final product... A big ole' decal of me!

ralais 0 Posted July 19, 2008 Since I don't have any transfer paper yet, what should I do with it?
Guest fivestar Posted July 19, 2008 Just sit it in a drawer or something. When you do get your tape, wipe it off with a towel or something to get the dust off the vinyl so the tape will stick to it.
ralais 0 Posted July 19, 2008 I want to stick it on something sooooo badly. I feel like a little kid the night before xmas. What do I need to stick it on a shirt using an iron? I NEED to stick it somewhere. Need... Need... Need I tell you! Okay, okay... let me order this tape already.
firemalt 10 Posted July 19, 2008 Masking tape will work as an app tape... I did it when I first got my cutter, prior to ordering my app tape, but my first cut wasn't that big.
ralais 0 Posted July 19, 2008 I didn't mean for it to be that big. I didn't understand / not pay attention to the scale on the sides on SignBlazer. Trial & Error... right?!? Well I guess I can make some little cuts tonight & go run out & buy some masking tape to use for the weekend. But umm... how do I use it? What do I need to do? firemalt 10 Posted July 20, 2008 Go to YouTube and do different searches for vinyl, stickers, decals, application tape, signs, etc.
ralais 0 Posted July 20, 2008 Whoa there a lot of videos on there about vinyl. Where's your? I know you must of made a few vinyl flicks... vinyl porn. LOL... did I just say vinyl porn? I know I need sleep. I am officially losing it. I think this place is rubbing off on me.
firemalt 10 Posted July 20, 2008 There's a lot that can be learned from all those videos.
FatDad 2 Posted July 20, 2008 There's a lot that can be learned from all those videos. thats what i tell my wife too
samtheitguy 0 Posted July 20, 2008 That looks fantastic. Whilst I wouldn't recommend it as it was a nightmare, I stuck my first large hand cut decal on without app tape, I had a friend help me peel the backing off the vinyl, and soaked the car so i had as much flexibility as possible. At least the beauty of having your own cutter is if things go wrong- you can always re-cut. Looks great though, well done!
jfought 120 Posted July 20, 2008 that is awesome for your first cut (whispering: i think she's not telling the whole truth) keep up the good work
ralais 0 Posted July 20, 2008 I think I'm going to keep this one on the backing. I keep looking at it... and it's kinda big. Well, really big. Big isn't always better. @ jfought... Whuh? @ FATDAD... LOL!!! You really can learn a lot from those videos. Word of advice for newbies... do not look up the word "Vinyl" as a seach... unless you're into dominatrix (sp).
